I hop on my exercise bike.

Orangedaisy · 06/02/2021 20:32

Popsugar workouts on YouTube. Or in reality this few days I’m just going to relax. I’ve done a run, walk (6k each) or YouTube workout 6 days a week since lockdown started and I’m exhausted. A few days off will do no harm.

tatutata · 06/02/2021 20:33

Weights, rowing machine or random workout video. Love Jane fonda, it's harder than it looks.

Magicbabywaves · 06/02/2021 20:35

Joe wicks fat burner. Or a core yoga on YouTube.

sunshineandshowers40 · 06/02/2021 20:42

I need ideas. When it snowed the other week I went for a couple of short slow runs but really need to find something else I enjoy.

Dreeno · 06/02/2021 20:44

I ended up saving up for ages and getting a treadmill! But before that I'd do exercise videos or just running on the spot while watching Netflix.

My mum did Jane Fonda when I was a kid and boy I took the piss out of it. She suggested I join her one day.

Christ it was tough. I discovered DOMS age 12! Music was pretty good too, I think the warm up was to Can you Feel it by Jackson 5, awesome tune.

Xiaoxiong · 06/02/2021 20:50

We bought an elliptical a couple of years ago when DH started to work evenings and weekends so I was home alone with the kids most evenings. It's come into its own during lockdown.

YouTube exercise videos - I like barre and HIIT ones.

Stair cardio - here's a routine or there are videos online: www.self.com/story/stair-workout

lastqueenofscotland · 06/02/2021 20:51

I still run, just slow down ans am super careful

Nohomemadecandles · 06/02/2021 20:51

@KeflavikAirport

I hop on my exercise bike.
Gosh, wouldn't it be easier to pedal on it? 😂
bucketofcoffee · 06/02/2021 20:52

Run on grass, less slippy than the pavement.

cluecu · 06/02/2021 20:53

Hiit workout, mixture of running on the spot, burpees, star jumps, tuck jumps, jump lunges /squats.. all as fast as I can. And sometimes weights. Think it's good to mix it up Smile

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 06/02/2021 20:53

Step machine, or long walks on farmland where the frozen ground is a bonus as it means you’re not wading through mud.

FusionChefGeoff · 06/02/2021 20:55

Can you stick to gritted pavements? Nothing has quite the same effect as a run!

OverByYer · 06/02/2021 20:58

I’ve got the Les Mills app so do a workout off that instead. Not the same though

MrsDThomas · 06/02/2021 21:19

HIIT or weights. I love my weights

Toorapid · 06/02/2021 21:21

Hill repeats in the multi storey carpark, no not kidding.

Depending on conditions, trail runs are often still ok.

HIIT if I really have to.

ZuluWarrior · 06/02/2021 21:22

I put on my yaktrax and run anyway.

www.yaktrax.co.uk/

Get the "run" ones - I think they are sold out on the official site but you can get them on amazon.

user85963842 · 06/02/2021 21:26

Ive not enjoyed running in the winter so I've gone back to HIIT sessions, burn the same amount of calories in 16 mins of that than I do a 30 min run (I'm not a very fast runner though it has to be said!)

ReceptacleForTheRespectable · 06/02/2021 21:26

I run anyway. With microspikes if needed. All my running tends to be on trails/fell, and the snow can linger a long time on the high ground, so I just get on with it.

FellRunner94 · 06/02/2021 21:35

Still run Grin

got bruises on my arm to prove it

museumum · 06/02/2021 21:39

I run on grass. If there’s enough snow/ice the golf courses close and I run there.

MotherForker · 06/02/2021 21:44

I still run. If the paths aren't gritted I run on the road (make sure I'm visible) or off road and embrace the mud.

dameofdilemma · 06/02/2021 21:50

Thanks all.
Think it will be HIIT sessions. Have done a few TAbita style ones before that are fast but intense. Just prefer the run.
Will try to get out for a short walk with dd too.

Neither pavements nor roads are gritted very well around here, too much slippy tarmac, ice not always visible. No grass easily accessible in 30 mins either.
Having nearly slipped a few times the last time it snowed I won’t risk it this time.

Les Mills work outs, weight training and the exercise bike. Must admit I didn't miss running that much.....
