Those beds where the TV magically appears as if from nowhere...

Who has one? Are they good? Should I get one?

Currently have a wooden frame which is good because of our cats and their bloody claws, but nothing appears from it and I just want to watch trash TV in bed on a Saturday morning.

They're very very expensive.
Instead I have an £80 projector on my bedside table that has great picture and sound quality, but means I don't have to have an ugly TV in my room.

LittleGoose000 · 05/02/2021 11:40

I love mine. I got it from Bensons for Beds. Smile

Sparklingbrook · 05/02/2021 11:41

OMG are you mad OP? Shock Watching TV in bed? Shock In your actual bedroom? Shock

TVs in bedrooms re very frowned upon by posters on MN. Sleep hygiene or something. Grin

I think those beds are ok but I couldn't cope with a bed with an 'end' and always assumed they were £££££s.

I always think they'd feel claustrophobic. I like to hang my feet off the bottom of the bed and don't think you could do that with those. I'd feel too close to the TV too. I don't sir that close to my TV in the living room so wouldn't want to do it in bed.

Yes, same here, and I also sit on the end of the bed. Would feel like lying in a box a bit.

I just have a huge TV on the chest of drawers at the end of the bedroom.

BarbaraofSeville · 05/02/2021 11:46

I agree that you're probably asking the wrong people on here.

I've seen what looked like a four poster bed with a roll down screen somewhere recently. I think it might have been on the 'weird houses' thread, although it wasn't the point of the link.

It's probably something that will significantly limit your choice of beds and add needless expense. You could just watch TV on a laptop or tablet on your lap or somewhere else on the bed?

iveturnedintoachip · 05/02/2021 11:47

I love a bedroom tv but hate tvs in the bed. My bed faces wardrobes & I have a shelf in there with a tv on.

iveturnedintoachip · 05/02/2021 11:47

so it's "hidden" if I want.

This made me laugh! I'll immediately go and cleanse myself by only eating a small lunch all day.

Next thing you'll be saying you have your phone in the bedroom all night too OP.

TheSpottedZebra · 05/02/2021 11:50

I think they're ridiculous for the sensible, practical reason that the tv will be kaput/obsolete long before the bed will. So you'll have an expensive bed with a broken tv and likely no replacement tv for it.

JorisBonson · 05/02/2021 11:50

We can't fit anything at the end of our bed and the room is too awkward for one on the wall. DH works a lot of weekends and I just dream of watching 90 Day Fiance without having to get our of bed 😂

Maybe I'll get a teasmaid and a bedpan too and train the cats to bring me snacks so I never have to leave!

Having googled out of curiosity, I see that you can also buy TV beds for dogs Shock.

You will need a bedside fridge too. Grin
JorisBonson · 05/02/2021 11:52

@Sparklingbrook yes! Or maybe a sophisticated system of levers and pulleys.

The flaw in that plan being that the cats won't be happy with you lounging in bed and not getting up to attend to their needs.

Careful, you might find yourself being posted about on this thread.

JorisBonson · 05/02/2021 11:54

@BarbaraofSeville they could have written that whole thread themselves! 😂

Well nobody has been on to say how terrible you are for having a tv in the bedroom. Shock Where are the sleep hygiene people today?

Could you start a thread about cat poo in the garden just to check MN isn't broken?

HadEnoughOfBears · 05/02/2021 12:52

I always wonder what happens if the TV breaks?

I just watch stuff in bed on the iPad with Sky Go / BBC Iplayer etc

ineedtogooutlater · 05/02/2021 12:55

Shit I just bought a new bed. Completely forgot about beds with magic tv's. Rookie error.

JorisBonson · 05/02/2021 12:57

This could be me! With a bottle of wine and what could be a pavlova??

My ex mil had one, it was from Dreams and cost about £1000 and included a DVD player too - she proudly showed us (when I was still married) which horrified my exh who (dirty mind) assumed it was to watch porn onGrin

Whatever takes your fancy, but can't you walk mount a cheap tv instead, or do what I did, put INSIDE the fitted wardrobes so exh couldn't complain about me having a tv in bed (which I wouldn't have had to if he didn't use the downstairs tv for the gaming machines!
