@ssd

I'd live to see the actual houses being paid for here, I'm intrigued the 4000 a month posters, how big must the house be!!
It is a 6 bed townhouse in a northern town- just a normal big Victorian semi Would sell for about £950,000 -maybe a bit more with planning and the current mortgage is about £348,000 but was about £550 when taken out
MyDcAreMarvel · 05/02/2021 21:24

£258 some of these amounts are crazy high!

MyDcAreMarvel · 05/02/2021 21:26

Obviously we overpay, at least £1000 a month.

Ok, I think it is probably worth a bit more. It is like this one but with a bigger garden but arguably not a good a rod.

Ronnii · 05/02/2021 22:23

£550, rent before buying was £1100

Waxonwaxoff0 · 05/02/2021 22:25

£300pm. My rent before was £425pm. East Midlands, 2 bed semi.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 05/02/2021 22:27

It's less than 25% of my income, should have said.

DrunkenKoala · 05/02/2021 22:27

Oly4 · 05/02/2021 22:30

2000, about 20% take home pay

Ronniesgirl · 05/02/2021 22:32

£122 with 24 years left. Borrowed £25,000 after my ex walked out to cover the debts he left behind. House was paid off before that. Was meant to be overpaying but covid has left me scrabbling to cover essentials so it will have to wait till I get back on a even keel.

noblegreenk · 05/02/2021 22:33

£510

Doublechins · 05/02/2021 22:36

The age of posters is probably relevant. Lots of younger people will have much bigger mortgages for a normal sized house. For example my parents house cost 60k now worth 1.8m, they only ever had a tiny mortgage.

Postmysecret · 05/02/2021 23:08

£465, which is about 30% of my income.

iveturnedintoachip · 05/02/2021 23:10

If you choose to live in/near the capital, then you have to suck up the expensive house prices that come with it.

Why? I live in London because it's where I was born & raised. My parents are immigrants so I don't have any other ties to other parts of the country & feel most comfortable here. Plus in the 80s & 90s many parts of London were affordable.
