There is some awful behaviour on here.

It breaks down badly at 4 minutes.

They’re discussing this on R4 now!

AmandaHoldensLips · 05/02/2021 08:27

I think we all deeply pity any wives involved...

Thelikelylass · 05/02/2021 08:28

The League of badly behaved Gentlemen.

thetinselbadge · 05/02/2021 08:29

I didn't think it was funny.

I see men like this all the time as a more junior member of staff. They're everywhere.

Lurkingforawhile · 05/02/2021 08:30

I think part of the problem is there is rarely a contested election and people can stay as councillors for 20 years plus. On a more positive note one of my colleagues became a parish councillor at 18 because they were concerned about environmental issues. We need more people like that.

TheRuleofStix · 05/02/2021 08:31

No it absolutely wasn’t funny being on the receiving end of it. I left after 6 months. It was awful. They just shouted at me constantly whenever I tried to speak Hmm.

robertsradiofan · 05/02/2021 08:32

This pretty much summarises every parish councillor I've ever encountered Grin brilliant!

SlipperTripper · 05/02/2021 08:32

Is the Vice Chairman possessed? Do we need to call a priest?

TheMandalorian · 05/02/2021 08:33

I don't find that funny at all. Its deeply uncomfortable behavior and I'm appalled but not shocked that those men are in some sort of position of power.

Knitwit99 · 05/02/2021 08:34

Imagine if one of those men was your dad or your husband and you had to watch them behave like that. I'd be mortified. Or maybe they are like that all the time, who knows. Or if my sons had to watch their grandad being like that. I hope they are ashamed of themselves.

52andblue · 05/02/2021 08:34

I've been in similarly aggressive meetings. It can be very stressful. All meetings should be recorded imo with a proper system of redress when aggressive bullying occurs.

ApolloandDaphne · 05/02/2021 08:36

That was a real eye opener. All my online meetings are calm and polite.

Bluntness100 · 05/02/2021 08:38

Yes I wonder how they are all feeling this morning, now it’s gone viral ans is being discussed on main stream media like the bbc news ans radio four.

They need to act and take action against these complete fools.

thecatfromjapan · 05/02/2021 08:38

To defend Councillors: our local Councillors are amazing. They became Councillors in order to help people, they're communicative, great listeners, committed to equality.

But, yes, political culture needs a massive overhaul.

There's a MN poster who always says that we need many, many more people - specially women - to get involved in politics. That's how we change it.

So, if you watch that and find it off-putting - please also remember that you are the sort of person who could and should get involved in politics. You are way better than those men.

Be the change our children need. 😁

And there's also a group, Compassion in Politics which is trying to work to change the culture of politics.

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 05/02/2021 08:41

That vice chair is a nasty piece of work...

ComDummings · 05/02/2021 08:41

“Please refer to me as Britney Spears from now on” 🤣

callmeadoctor · 05/02/2021 08:43

We need to get Jackie Weaver trending....................

Hoiking · 05/02/2021 08:44

But......did they have a point?? Can a clerk remove councillors from a meeting??

Happytentoes · 05/02/2021 08:46

Just to add my voice to those who are appalled at the bullying misogynistic tone of this meeting. Our community council ( Scotland) is delightful in comparison

Halsall · 05/02/2021 08:46

Seriously though, those men were utterly disgusting. The overall level of malevolence was frightening. If that's their basic attitude towards women, how depressing is that Sad

Go Jackie Weaver.

larrythelizard · 05/02/2021 08:46

There's a second video. No Jackie Weaver but Sue is a legend:

callmeadoctor · 05/02/2021 08:47

Ah, she's trending already!!!!

RaspberryCoulis · 05/02/2021 08:47

Not my current ones, but I have most definitely worked/volunteered in the past with people who think sitting on a small committee is just the same as being Chair of the UN.

Chocolino · 05/02/2021 08:48

See, I don't even think this is funny. I live in a village, surrounded by a number of other villages attached to a small town. These are the type of people running our councils. They argue back and forth in the local newspaper, waste money and people actually end up with life-long injuries having ridden over potholes and broke their backs.

It looks funny on youtube but these inept, socially stunted, jobsworth misogynists actually get to make decisions on our behalf and they are more often than not, wrong ones.

Embarrasedaf · 05/02/2021 08:49

I’m so annoyed that this went viral. I was hoping there would be a future one I could tune in to, but now they know that the entire world is watching them they’re obviously going to be more professional next time
