Want to come? I think start off with a lovely coffee and just watch the people rushing by....then what next?

Anyone for a kebab first before we head out separate ways? I'll have a chicken shish with all the salad and lots of garlic mayo in pitta bread, with chips and chilli sauce on the side and extra jalapeños with a bottle of Coca Cola (the kind with real sugar in). What about The rest of you?

Latenightreader · 30/01/2021 21:59

Will you wait while I get my watch battery replaced? It died last March the day after the first lockdown was called. Feels symbolic. I also want to squeeze my way through the crowds to the stall with the really good cheese. Hopefully they’ll have yfenni with mustard seeds, Cornish yarg, and I’ll try all the samples before I decide what else.

MorvaanReed · 30/01/2021 22:01

Eggs benedict and good coffee; wander round the lanes where the independent shops and pop up art galleries are; tonic water and olives in my favourite pub; round the market especially the handmade soap/shampoo/conditioner bars stall and the cheese stall; finish with coffee with my friend I haven't seen for a year, somewhere comfy we can watch the world go by.

I think about this a lot.

purplecorkheart · 30/01/2021 22:01

@ballstothis148 can we pick a spa that gives us a yummy fruit and chocolate platter and Processo in the relaxation room after our fab treatments

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 30/01/2021 22:01

Can we pop by the travel agent? I need to book a 5* holiday abroad, going in July, planning to visit several countries, and for some reason the prospect of booking it online has lost all its appeal. I quite fancy leafing through some brochures, chatting to some human beings...
@FellowFlipFlop. Think there's going to be a few of us. Can you drive a coach?
oh please, can we go by train instead? I saw a tv advert the other day, and part of it was a person rushing down a platform against the flow of people getting off the train and after spending many hours on train platforms travelling for work over the years and grumbling accordingly it looked so brilliantly ordinary but so alien at the same time. Not sure what the feeling was but it gave me a right pang!

mogloveseggs · 30/01/2021 22:03

Sounds blissful! I think I'm going for afternoon tea at harvey nicks with dm, but then I will definitely meet for book shop browsing Grin

ineedaholidaynow · 30/01/2021 22:03

Anyone else got a warm and fuzzy feeling reading this. One day!

peak2021 · 30/01/2021 22:03

OP has your tongue come out of your cheek yet!!

@piglet81

Oh, I miss swimming. Haven’t been since March - all our leisure centres closed down, then one pool reopened in December for about five days but I couldn’t get the flipping booking app to work so didn’t manage to go before they closed again!
When our pools were allowed to open during that narrow window last year our pools decided that that was the best time to close for annual maintenance!

@Lifeinaonesie

Sorry, can't. I'm going to soft play to let my toddler run and slide and spin and twirl and run some more, while I get to sit and just breathe for a moment.
Can I come with you? Last time we managed soft play they could only just crawl. Now they can cruise but MAN can they climb. Up anything. They even know to climb fr one thing to the other to get higher. Can't bloody walk tho. They'd love soft play

@newbie987

This is my most favourite post on MN so far. I think I want to do everything!! Bookshops, craft shops, coffee shops and people watching, feeling the fabric in fabric shops...shoes...definitely shoe shopping too! Theatre and cinema sound so good!! As do spa days / jacuzzis too, so much to fit in, I think I'd have to do it over a few days!!
I think we are going to have to make a long weekend of it. With extra rooms for all the shopping.

I normally don't feel bothered about shopping but you've all made it sound very appealing!
One day eh!

Inkpaperstars · 30/01/2021 22:06

I am heading to the baby department at John Lewis on Oxford Street to have a good look round, then up the Marylebone high street for a browse and a drink.

Chalkcheese · 30/01/2021 22:06

I do love a train journey! With a pesto chicken, mozzarella and tomato panini, a decent crossword to do and something hot to drink

Goodbye2020Hello2021 · 30/01/2021 22:06

Can I come? There's a food market on and I want to try all the little food samples on cocktail sticks at each stall and have a thimbleful of all the drinks before I buy...

negrilbaby · 30/01/2021 22:06

This post has made me cry a little 😢.
I”m going to catch the train into London. Spend the morning mooching around the shops. Somewhere small, crowded and busy for lunch. Meeting a few friends for a drink in the afternoon, then ......aaargh too much to do, I can’t decide what.
Need lots of hugs, lots of laughs.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 30/01/2021 22:07

Great! I’ll join the gang browsing in bookshops. It’ll be a bit crowded with all of us there together, but we’re pretty good-natured so we’ll smile and let each other pass before we stick our noses back in whatever book has grabbed us.

Lucky they have cafes in bookshops these days. I’ll see you at the counter, choosing the right brew or blend to enjoy with the new purchases we’ll be reading.

No, but what if I hire one of those disco limos?

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 30/01/2021 22:07

Ooh guys, I just decided I'm not going straight home and instead am going for a wagamama followed by a movie. Anyone in?

Ethelfromnumber73 · 30/01/2021 22:07

Brunch in a nice cafe with my three best girlfriends. We were on a weekend away this time last year doing just that...

Fairydustrust · 30/01/2021 22:08

@kingdomcapers. 22 vouchers?. Wow. But you may need more Smile

Sounds amazing!
A wee coffee in Starbucks, a look round different shops see if I see anything for myself or the kids, into the nespresso shop to look at coffees for my new machine, a lovely lunch and generally just to people watch for a while

I love wagamama. Definitely.

I'm going out for cocktails and drunken dancing with a group of friends! We're going to be hugging and talking right into each others ears, laughing and we may even sing!
