Want to come? I think start off with a lovely coffee and just watch the people rushing by....then what next?

I'm going to take a train to London, and then the tube to Oxford Circus. I'll wander through Libertys, then go to Cos and Arket, and try on a few items, ending up with a couple of tops that I never would have considered if I'd just seen them online. I'll then drift through Soho, people-watching and buying coffee beans at the Algerian Coffee House. Then to Covent Garden, where I'll swerve the crowds in the piazza, but enjoy still more window-shopping. I will dither over some funky boots in Fly or Office. I'll then walk over Waterloo Bridge - my favourite view in the world - and meet my friend outside the National. Because its warm, we'll have a quick lunch outside from one of the food vans, before going in to a packed matinee. She'll then go home, and I'll walk down to the Cut, where I'll meet another friend for a couple of drinks in some new bar which she's found. I'll then rush back to the station in time for a train home.

I need to take back some tights and want to smell all the candles and hand wash in TKMaxx. Would love to flick through the early readers section in Waterstones as I can't tell online if DD will manage them.

Then a new swishy dress would be nice and a potter around the charity shops for jumpers and some picture frames.

Coffee and a cake sounds amazing and I've just gone GF to try to improve how I feel and you can get amazing GF stuff in one of our local places

HeronLanyon · 31/01/2021 08:58

witchesbegat was lovely is that we all entered into the spirit. I was my usual slightly impatient to order persona. Friend A then was her usual self in a stylist complicated order for her drink (including how the limes were to be cut). Friend B then asked for tweaks to the menu item (as SO often). Felt like old familiar times. None of us had dessert but we did check the menu just in case etc. We did have some normal non fantasy chat too obvs. Good times.

Flatcokeisnojoke · 31/01/2021 08:59

I’m going to play tennis with friends, then wander over to the pub afterwards for a few GTs

DeciduousPerennial · 31/01/2021 08:59

I’ll come. I need to pop in to M&S for new knickers and trying on works trousers, and I quite fancy a piece of cake in the coffee shop while I’m there, then I’ll wander over to Boots for a poke around the counters. The only thing is, I can’t stand the multi-storey. While I’m out I wouldn’t mind getting some tulips.

HeronLanyon · 31/01/2021 09:00

Shout out to maudesmum some of that is my home patch. Might bump into you.

BestOption · 31/01/2021 09:00

@MaudesMum

No, don't go home!

Meet us for cocktails snd one of the nights out (I'm going to the theatre- my clubbing/dancing days are done). Then back to the hotel that we've booked out. Lots of groups for drinks/dancing/karaoke/coffee... or a huge comfy bed!

Babamamananarama · 31/01/2021 09:01

Sorry can't come, I'm going to a festival with a big gang of my mates to spend the weekend gloriously out of my tree and listening to amazing music in large crowds of people.

Fairydustrust · 31/01/2021 09:02

@FusionChefGeoff

What an absolutely beautiful thread.

Lovely bit of source material for historians in the past - all this normal activity that became the stuff of fantasy.

I was thinking that. Anybody looking back at this will wonder what is going on .Confused

I am going to my local coffee shop to have a coffee and cake breakfast whilst I crochet in peace. Then I'm meeting mum and dad for lunch and a trip to the allotment. The DC and DH will be joining us late afternoon and we are heading to the cinema. On the way home, we are going to McDonald's.

There appears to be a lot of eating going on Blush

I'm really glad you had such a great time. I hope you enjoy the next one just as much!!

@Clevererthanyou

Ooh can we try the new (to me) Turkish restaurant in Cardiff? And check out the kitchen accessories in Tyger. I'd love to see if the quaint little independent cafe is s hiding away in the Bay. Maybe we could take a trip across the park on the waterbus and finish the day with marshmallows from Hotel Chocolat?
That sounds good! Also maybe go to Wally's and stock up on some tasty treats?
pinkearedcow · 31/01/2021 09:07

I am also going to hug every person I see.

CarrieMoonbeams · 31/01/2021 09:08

There's a fabulous antiques centre about an hour away from where I live - you know the type with loads of little 'rooms' and cabinets belonging to different dealers?

So we could go there first and have a good rummage - extra bonus points for spotting things that we remember from when we were kids - then a hot chocolate in their cafe, and then on up to the most fabulous Indian buffet place. It's about another 20 minute's drive up the road, so just enough time to be absolutely starving!

After that, let's pop in to the winery, get some bottles of locally produced fruit wines, then back home to crash out.

I have a big car, so plenty of space for anyone who wants a lift.

Labobo · 31/01/2021 09:10

South Bank and West End for me. I want to wander around an exhibition at Tate Modern or Hayward gallery, then over the bridge to sample some scents in the new perfumeries that have opened up in Covent Garden. Into Soho to buy fresh ground coffee at The Algerian Coffee shop and maybe a rose sculpted raspberry and mango sorbet from the ice cream shop opposite or stop for lunch at a Bao bun cafe in Chinatown. Then walk over the river to a matinee at the National or The Bridge, into the West End for cocktails or champagne and then... in my dreams it is a summer evening and the lindyhopper dancers are out under the white awning by Spitalfields market. I would happily dance there until the sun went down then walk back through the City and over Waterloo Bridge again to catch the train home. I love walking for miles and miles trough Central London.

WellJuhnelle · 31/01/2021 09:11

I’ll come! Breakfast at a cafe first though with a good coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. Then after the shops we’ll have cocktails at my friend’s bar - I’ll save us all a bar stool so we can be especially sociable Wine

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 31/01/2021 09:15

I'm heading to a local cafe with my family for breakfast. Then I will meet up with a friend for a spa day, massages, facials and nails as well as the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi of course. Meet up with some more friends for dinner and drinks in a pub. Then tomorrow I will take DS swimming and to the local farm park with his best friend.

ClinkyMonkey · 31/01/2021 09:15

Just leave me in the wool shop, lifting balls of yarn, holding them up to the light compare colours, then buying far more than I need. Then a wee trip to Waterstones to inhale the books. I'll see you later for a latte and big slice of overpriced cakeGrin

Janus · 31/01/2021 09:19

@Labobo
My day would be VERY similar to yours but a teleporter has been invented so just before my afternoon in soho I will teleport to Devon. I will have breakfast with my mum and dad and brother who I haven’t seen since July (and only for 3 hours then). We will have a glass of champagne with our breakfast and sit outside on their terrace and look out over the sea. We will laugh so much and randomly hug eachother every time someone gets up! It will be hard to leave for my afternoon in soho but I’ll say, don’t worry, I’ll be back for breakfast tomorrow!

Love2cycle · 31/01/2021 09:20

SAT:Breakfast and a lingering coffee with free newspapers in Sainsburys with my DH and 4 year old. A leasurly mooch round the clothes, books, kitchen stuff section before the main food shop. Freely discussing our meal plans for the week with no masks on!!
SUN: something fun, like the zoo or swimming.

Topseyt · 31/01/2021 09:28

I'll join you for a coffee. I just can't decide yet whether I will be heading to London or Cambridge.

Then I will head off to get myself some new bras in M & S as my trusty old ones have sadly seen better days and are sporting a few holes.

Then I will be off to browse Waterstones.

I want to go for one of those hot stone massages, then I’m going to poke around the running shop and look at trainers and things. I’ll probably get myself some socks. Then I think I’ll go to Waterstones, get myself a book, and sit in the cafe there with a decaf latte and an almond croissant, half reading and half people watching. Then perhaps I’ll meet up with DH and DS and we’ll go to Pizza Express for lunch. DH can drive and I’ll have a glass of Pinot Grigio. The sun will be shining and we’ll watch the people walking by while we eat, then we’ll wander home. We’ll take the park and ride bus and sit at the top so DS can pretend to drive.

It will be lovely.

Positivevibesonlyplease · 31/01/2021 09:40

We’ll drive to our nearest city, park near the university, walk through the gardens and pick up coffee and a croissant. It’s sunny, so everything is glistening. Bit of a window shop, then straight to Urban Outfitters, where I’ll park myself on the squishy sofa and read, as DD tries on a few trendy bits. Leisurely lunch with a small glass of wine - as I’m not driving home for at least four hours. Off to l’Occitane and John Lewis to try some sprays and hand creams next. Think I’ll treat us both. DD’s meeting her friends and I’m meeting mine now, so we have lovely catch ups over lattes and hot chocs.

Positivevibesonlyplease · 31/01/2021 09:42

Waterstones - forgot Waterstones - we’ll pick up a few books and turn the pages, reading a bit of each before we eventually choose the one.
