Double crowns!

Do you have one? How many people do you know with them?
What old wives tales do you know about them? Any superstitions?
Only a bit of fun, I've just noticed my baby has it! Each wurl goes in a different direction.

My son has a double crown! It's hidden now under his thick curly hair but it was beautiful as a baby. It's hard to get his hair to sit neatly! My other two kids don't have one. I believe they're quite rare?

Ozgirl75 · 28/01/2021 22:27

My husband has it, and one of my sons. Only thing I’ve noticed is that they need to leave their hair longer or have it properly short as it seems to grow upwards Smile
I think it’s cool and cute.

TrimmedMyBush · 28/01/2021 22:29

My DD and husband both have a double crown!

Swimmingiscancelled · 28/01/2021 22:30

I have 3!

JustCallMeGriffin · 28/01/2021 22:31

My eldest daughter and I have one. Reasonably certain one of my sister's and my dad has one too but can't say I know anyone else (I don't pay that much attention to other people's heads).

Didn't realise there might be old wives tales or superstitions attached to having hair that misbehaved when cut short.

Nicknamegoeshere · 28/01/2021 22:33

My baby has one but nobody else in the family does!

Harriedharriet · 28/01/2021 22:34

My dd has it.

I think and old wives tale is that they will travel?

Shelovesamystery · 28/01/2021 22:35

Me, my dsis and both of my DC's have them. I didn't realise that they are rare (obviously Grin)

Zerrin13 · 28/01/2021 22:36

My 16 year old daughter has one. She hates it!

micc · 28/01/2021 22:42

More than I thought!
Interesting to see it's a bit of a pain! Haha I cant wait for her teenage years when her hair wont lie flat! It's already sticking up!
I read online that it means you might be ambidextrous or intelligent. Or that you are stubborn or argumentative!
Also that two souls formed when you were conceived from reincarnation.
Obviously all a bit of waffle but i thought It was interesting hearing different superstitions from different cultures. One article said It means you will have two wives!!

Idratherberude · 28/01/2021 22:42

I have one, someone told me that in his culture it means I'll be married twice.
Still on my first husband so far.

ChocOrange1 · 28/01/2021 22:57

My husband does, his hair it's very thick and really sticks up at the back if it gets too long. My daughter has the same very thick hair but a single crown which is good as it would be even harder to wash and brush!

RuggeryBuggery · 28/01/2021 22:59

Me and at least one of my daughters. I don’t like mind as my (fine, annoying flat) hair sticks up funny at the top back of my head after sleeping on it so I have to wash it every day or wear it up really.

BogRollBOGOF · 28/01/2021 22:59

DS had a double when he was little but they've merged into one now.
He has a cows lick too.

He has long hair to weigh it down or the front spirals off vertically. It tends to swing round and hang in a curtain. He's not got a well-proportioned head for a short cut either, plus with sensory issues, hates hair cuts.

AfterSchoolWorry · 28/01/2021 23:05

My dd has a double crown at the back of her head. They are perfect mirror images of each other and when she was a baby the back of her head looked like an owls face!

Teaseall · 28/01/2021 23:07

My sister has a double crown with beautiful dark chestnut thick hair so no problem. I on the other hand have fair, somewhat mousey waves fine hair with a VERY pronounced widows peak and double cow licks Confused

Mamiormod · 28/01/2021 23:08

I have one!
My DM was warned that anyone with a double crown should beware water! Must have made DM wary as she was always nervous when I went swimming!

Saisong · 28/01/2021 23:15

Both my kids have double crowns - in fact the hairdresser said they are actually quadruple crowns - but I'm not sure that's actually a thing?

What I do know is that they are bloody annoying. DS actually had a Mohawk when he was born as the whorls on each side made the middle stand up, even now he has to have longish or extremely short hair - there's no middle ground.

DDs crowns are vertical - one below the other, which causes havoc with hairstyling because there is always a rouge strand that stands up. Its ponytails all the way.

Poor Kids!

RainbowMum11 · 28/01/2021 23:17

I have one as does my DD and XH

RosesAndHellebores · 28/01/2021 23:23

DH has, or should I say had, a double crown. He used to have two little bald patches but they have since merged into one. DS has one too.

Pieceofpurplesky · 28/01/2021 23:30

I have one and hair that goes in all directions. DS has one and it makes his hair swirl around his head.

KnitFastDieWarm · 28/01/2021 23:33

my little DS has a double crown of beautiful blonde hair. I adore it Smile

freezingmytoesoff · 28/01/2021 23:34

I have one and have to wash my hair every day because after a night of sleeping on it it sticks up in a big bump and cannot be tamed... nightmare!!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 28/01/2021 23:37

I have one and my DS. Nightmare. Only looks ok when it's freshly washed. Day 2 and my hair has to be tied up.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 28/01/2021 23:40

DS does. They go in opposite directions and are far enough apart that as long as it hair is about 1" long on top, it lays flat.

DD has a cows lick that is perfectly place to twist her curly hair off her face. Honestly people usually think she's got a pin in but it's natural. Lucky because she loves to wear it down so it keeps it out her way.
