Rats and Stick insects I suppose. The rats have been known to attempt to join us in bed. The stick insects are usually more well behaved - except for the time I missed one during cleaning out and DH found it in the dining room on the wall at head height having climbed out of the bag.

@ShirleyPhallus it's electric Grin

SillyBub · 28/01/2021 19:24

@WomenAreBornNotWorn

Will have to look for one of her in her nappy.
I have those pyjamas. I do not however have a house hen but I think I'd quite like one.

@WomenAreBornNotWorn

You win the internet for me today.

Fantastic Grin

We've no microwave which DC's friends find amusing, how do we cope? Also no gas central heating, we've a wood pellet stove that does the central heating and hot water and also a wood burner in another room.

Not that odd, but it always provokes a conversation.

UntamedWisteria · 28/01/2021 19:26

Lot's of things on this thread are normal to me:

Bread in freezer
Two staircases
Cheese drawer in fridge
No locks on the bathrooms
Encourage people to keep shoes on in the house
Wildflower garden
Armchair exclusively for the dog

UntamedWisteria · 28/01/2021 19:26

Also have a wood pellet boiler!

SarahAndQuack · 28/01/2021 19:26

@addicted2spaniels

We've got a massive old church pew in our hallway.
I remember this being a big trend. I used to wonder if all the people in magazines would keep them afterwards. Quite nice, though.
KilljoysDutch · 28/01/2021 19:26

Also the bedroom is basically my "getaway" room it has 2 desks, a large TV and PS4 and is full to the brim of my art and craft supplies.
DH has the living room downstairs with various games consoles attached to the main TV and a computer at a desk in the corner. I suffer badly with various MH issues and need a getaway room. DS7 spends his time in whichever room has the activities he wants to do (TV with DH, Crafts with me, or alone in his room) DD is 18 and never leaves her bedroom anyway Grin. My rats are also in the bedroom with me. The rabbit and hamster occupy the dining room.

Full on outed myself as a complete weirdo now and to the very very few visitors we ever have Grin

When they aren’t in lockdown, we often have rogue hens in the kitchen perched on dining chairs. The little buggers are always sneaking in.

Andante57 · 28/01/2021 19:30

Upstairs in our house has no hearing so during cold weather dh and I and dd (when she’s home) have log fires in our bedrooms.
Dh gets up early and lets the dogs out and lights the fire.
Getting dressed in front of a log fire is the greatest luxury I know.

NeverRTFT · 28/01/2021 19:34

Has anyone said penis beaker yet?

soundofsilence1 · 28/01/2021 19:34

I have a breakfast cupboard with a coffee machine and toaster, shelves above with jams and cereals and drawers below with bread, pastries and cakes.

It has recently been installed as part of our new kitchen but has been one of the main causes of my lockdown weight gain.

MusicalTrifleMonkey · 28/01/2021 19:36

@PandemicAtTheDisco

I have a wildflower garden. None of the neighbours listen when I tell them about the birds and bees. They really object to it (the garden not the environmental lectures).

I don't want help weeding my garden, I don't want weed killer sprayed over it. It was fantastic a few years ago and several environmentalists visited to examine the species diversity.

Me too. Most of it is native and wild. We have a pond and big bug house.

Shame this is considered weird when it should be common! ☹️

marriednotdead · 28/01/2021 19:37

I must've mentioned needing a draught excluder at some point so my mate bought me one as a token Christmas gift a few years ago. It's my idea of hideous- tapestry style with small yappy dogs printed on it- but it does the job so it remains, mocking me with its ugly self.

Since DGS was little, his job was to put it back when someone left the house so the phrase 'quick, put the dogs in the door!' has stuck.

emmetgirl · 28/01/2021 19:37

A full size skeleton on a stand. He's called Sid.

Oreservoir · 28/01/2021 19:38

We have two staircases also.
I have a treadle sewing machine which still works.
We don't have central heating and rely on woodburners.

Utilityroomenvy · 28/01/2021 19:38

We sing a Good Morning song to the dog every day when we let him out of his crate. If the kids get downstairs first they will sing it to him Grin

ComeONBridget · 28/01/2021 19:38

Bleach the toilets everyday...

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 28/01/2021 19:41

I have a life-sized cardboard cut out of my favourite TV character in my bedroom. Freaks everyone out, he has a very intense stare. 😂

ColourHex · 28/01/2021 19:41

We have 4 desktop pcs - very useful with home schooling

Hesma · 28/01/2021 19:41

@EarringsandLipstick lots of people have a rabbit in the bedroom 🤣🤣🤣

Merename · 28/01/2021 19:42

We believe in kindness and respect to all living things and take it to levels some may find extreme. Tonight me and DD found a dying fly and have been nursing it back to life with some grapes, scooshy cream and a lidful of apple juice! He’s called Flo the Fly. DD has gone to be totally delighted with herself!

Bilgepumper · 28/01/2021 19:42

@FineWhiteBread

I have two staircases. People always comment on it, but I hadn’t thought that was unusual?
Growing up we had two staircases. When my granny came to stay, she would announce that she was heading upstairs, for the toilet. My brother always used to nip upstairs, using the second staircase and beat her to it. She didn't know about the second staircase and remained baffled for years as to how he did it. We probably should have told her but it was far too funny.
Pickles89 · 28/01/2021 19:43

@MadameTuffington Awww that is adorable! One of my buns would wee on the bed. Something about the texture of the duvet I think. Both the rabbits were far too busy chewing my skirting boards and digging the carpet into shreds to be fussed about sleeping at night anyway! Grin
