How often do you eat fish?

We only eat it once a week, if that. Salmon, mackrel or cod. No-one really loves it but as it's so good for you, I try and serve it up weekly.

Just wondering if a marketing campaign to eat more fish might be coming, to make use of all the extra fish we can catch. Most coastal countries seem to eat loads of fish - I get the impression, UK not so much.

As an island nation, we should be eating more than we do, shouldn't we? I'm wondering if I could make 2 fishy meals a week - probably have to heavily disguise one Grin

Could you eat more fish?

No. It's cruel and barbaric. They die gasping. It's hugely environmentally damaging. Plus its the most disingenuous industry there is.

2-3 times a week. I love salmon, prawns and lemon sole.

I'd eat more but it isn't cheap and the red meat eaters in my house would get upset.

Bouledeneige · 27/01/2021 21:03

Once or twice a week. Salmon or sea bass or tuna. We also eat prawns once every 2 weeks. The rest of the time we mostly eat veggie.

We all like fish. But its how you cook it - we don't really eat it plain, its often got a marinade or herb dressing.

SpeckledyHen · 27/01/2021 21:04

3 times a week at least . Always salmon , smoked haddock and fresh tuna . Sometimes a white fish and tinned something at lunchtime on the days we have a veggie evening meal . No meat .

nancy75 · 27/01/2021 21:04

I love fish & would eat it every day, DH tolerates salmon once every couple of weeks & Dd will only eat it if it comes from a fish & chip shop.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/01/2021 21:05

Twice a week. I do a lot of different dishes - teriyaki salmon, fish pie, home made fish cakes, oven baked stuffed with cheese and spinach, stir fry.

claracluck1978 · 27/01/2021 21:05

This week we have had it twice (ratatouille with baked cod and breaded lemon sole with veggies) and possibly will have sea bass at the weekend.

We usually only have it once a week though - it's just I picked up some bargains in the shops on Sunday.

cato75 · 27/01/2021 21:05

We always have tinned tuna in the cupboard and have tuna mayo sandwiches through the week.

I also like salmon and cod but would like to be more adventurous with fresh fish.

NovemberR · 27/01/2021 21:05

I love fish - we all do - and would eat it much more frequently if it were cheaper.

It is too expensive to have regularly, compared to chicken or mince.

Kottbullar · 27/01/2021 21:05

Very rarely, I enjoy eating it but find fishing horrific which puts me off.

TeddyBeans · 27/01/2021 21:05

Had salmon quiche yesterday 🤤

Love fish. We have it once a week with a few extras thrown in over the course of the month

NotCornflakes · 27/01/2021 21:06

Hardly ever, it's not something I would cook. Unless you count dumping a can of tuna on top of some pasta!

Hoppinggreen · 27/01/2021 21:07

Me and DD don’t like fish really, I sometimes eat it abroad if I know it’s fresh
DH and DS love it but as I’m the main cook they don’t have it very often
I doubt we could be encouraged to eat more

Yellredder · 27/01/2021 21:09

I love fish. I should eat it more often but OH and DD aren’t keen on it.

user1493413286 · 27/01/2021 21:09

We eat it at least once a week; I really like salmon and toddler DD can be convinced to eat it. I’d probably eat more if it was cheaper

00100001 · 27/01/2021 21:13

2-3 times a week. Various forms.

CherryBlossomTree7 · 27/01/2021 21:16

I don't have fresh fish often. I have fish goujons (frozen) in a sandwich, usually once a week. I sometimes have tinned tuna or salmon sandwiches. I love fish but I'm the only one in the house who would eat it so seems a faff to do some just for me.

Smiledwiththerisingsun · 27/01/2021 21:16

Most days.
Love it!

misslomi · 27/01/2021 21:22

What's everyones favourite fish recipes? I'd like to eat more but never sure on what to do with it!

Not keen on salmon or other oily fish.

waltzingparrot · 27/01/2021 21:25

My mum doesn't like fish so consequently I didn't eat it that often as a child. I just don't think my palette is attuned to it.

Once or twice a week. I absolutely love seafood like prawns, mussels and scallops, alas, my budget doesn’t allow for daily.

dudsville · 27/01/2021 21:25

It's the only "meat" I eat regularly. Occasionally I have chicken but that's only a few times a year. I eat fish maybe 4 or 5 days of the week, sometimes for both lunch and dinner.
