How oh how, can Tesco slots be gone in 60 seconds...

I am CEV, and make a point of waiting for the date to click over at midnight to try and get a spot, with only one exception Tesco have been outstanding since all of this started ( and I was a Sainsburys shopper all my life, but now converted)

But how oh how can all the priority slots begone before you have time to click on home delivery ?

Not moaning, just musing.

I don't know about CEV slots, perhaps everyone is sitting there, just like you.

Lots of normal slots appear on Tesco at about 10am, and between 2-4pm. And randomly in the evening as people cancel, and their slots are released.

QuantumQuality · 27/01/2021 00:15

Do you have a delivery saver pass? They’ve probably all been booked by pass holders.

GooodMythicalMorning · 27/01/2021 00:22

pass holder here, still can't get a slot!

FinallyFluid · 27/01/2021 00:24

Thank you both, it may make sense to get DH to register for a saver pass, it would be cheaper, but I have been stuck in my "comfort zone" of priority slots and rarely being disappointed. I am shielding, can you tell this is the biggest thing I have to think about these days. Grin

I'm a Morrisons pass holder and honestly, I've only ever gone one week without being able to get a slot and that was early last March.

FinallyFluid · 27/01/2021 09:49

I am pretty much the same, I was just boggled at how they were all gone at 12.01

IhateBoswell · 27/01/2021 09:58

I can never get a Tesco delivery slot, Asda however always have them (NW England).

FinallyFluid · 27/01/2021 10:01

If you are reading this Mr Tesco, I am not complaining just boggled. Grin

I've found that the only way I can get slots is to book them 4 weeks in advance.

DancingQueen85 · 27/01/2021 10:02

Lots of slots available if you get a delivery pass. It is only something like £3.50 a month

Spongebobsquarefringe · 27/01/2021 10:05

I registered my nan via the government website with her NHS number and Jen Sainsbury’s emailed me and Tesco, when I log in I see a priority slot along side the others, the slot is 6-2 or 10-4 for example but it’s been fantastic

User27aw · 27/01/2021 10:06

I dont think they are letting anyone else take out the delivery saver, though maybe they might if you are CEV, not sure.

Sanch1 · 27/01/2021 10:07

I'm a tesco delivery saver customer and have had a delivery each week. I go on each Monday and book for 4 weeks time as those are the free slots, and I'm always sorted for the following 4 weeks. The only week I've missed is when I was in labour on the Monday 😂 so had to get a collect slot instead!

Teenangels · 27/01/2021 10:07

Pass holder here, all slots gone for a month! None are ever released.
I have started using Sainsbury's again, brilliant selection of slots and do not have the stupid max of 95 items.

CokeAndPepsi · 27/01/2021 10:28

I’m an ocado smart pass holder and I can always get slots but I have to book 3 weeks in advance. But I can change the order until the night before so it doesn’t reality matter. There is some expensive stuff on Ocado but lots of decent basics as well.

Therealone · 27/01/2021 10:31

It must be area dependant as I'm a delivery pass holder and I have no trouble getting a normal slot.

PeterPandemic · 27/01/2021 10:36

I am a delivery pass holder and I have slots booked 4 weeks in advance, I go on at some point in the morning (before 10) after they are released and there's always loads. It might be worth noting the bullet.

PeterPandemic · 27/01/2021 10:36

And I think you can use clubcard points to pay for a delivery saver pass

HattieMid2 · 27/01/2021 10:40

Yep - Morrison’s pass holder here and can always get slots, often can get one for the next day if needed! Highly recommend

That is interesting, I automatically see the priority slot tab on Tesco, but not on Sainsburys. I am holding for JS now to see if this was a mistake, it possibly is as I had to actively pursue them and point out that they had been told I was CEV, and I can never get a slot.

I am always several weeks ahead of myself, so I will have time to order extra and balance it out.

Either way when this is over, despite having left the equivalent of a deposit for a small house over the years, I will be sticking with Tesco as their website is a joy to navigate by comparison to JS.

I think it just depends where you are. Tesco slots are a problem but fortunately here Iceland is no problem for delivery (not as much choice).

Kpo58 · 27/01/2021 10:58

I wonder if there is a supermarket slot sniper program like you can get on eBay.

Brogues · 27/01/2021 11:03

I have just been on mind and I could get a few slots tomorrow evening 7-11pm or next Wednesday if you can be flexible with your days. Also check the flex saver times (there’s a toggle box at the top of the page on the app) which is sometimes different from the hour slots. Book your slot with a pint of milk or a favourites order ie go through the checkout process then go back and do your proper order at your leisure.

FinallyFluid · 27/01/2021 11:05

Rang JS and held and held and held..... then got kicked off the call and asked to take part in a survey, I was polite, but you can imagine the sarcasm of being asked to comment on a phone call I hadn't had. Grin

The call handler insisted that by virtue of the fact that I could see two weeks in advance made me priority. Hmm
