Really dry inside nose - covid?

udnertheradar · 26/01/2021 19:59

Today I have the weirdest sensation inside my nose. It feels really dry and uncomfortable. Exactly like when you wake up on a plane after a long haul flight. When I googled it it comes up as an early symptom of covid. Has anyone else had this as a symptom of covid?

Could just as easily be caused by the cold air and mask wearing.

udnertheradar · 26/01/2021 20:02

Thanks Bagelsandbrie. That's a good point

Yes. Oddly enough this is how my nose felt. I tested positive on a routine test the next day. 24 hours after that my sense of smell went.

Central heating causes this

udnertheradar · 26/01/2021 20:08

Thanks Thismustbemydream. It's really noticeable. Test booked for tomorrow

This is exactly how I was too. Like I was trying to hold a sneeze in. Tested that day and returned positive.

udnertheradar · 26/01/2021 20:11
Confused

This is what I have. Been hard to put finger on it but yes it's that discomfort like when trying to hold a sneeze in.

I'm on day 7 past positive test and it's one of the ongoing symptoms for me.

udnertheradar · 26/01/2021 20:14

Thanks. Had never heard of it before

My partner has this and has just brought home a lateral flow test so we shall see

TheCanyon · 26/01/2021 20:22

My nose has been like this for months. Do you have any problems with your eyes?

Emski76 · 26/01/2021 20:26

Yes it was one of my first symptoms, still have it now two weeks later. Strangest feeling. I described it to my son as a bit like the feeling when you snort swimming pool water up your nose! It’s a horrible feeling!

thegoatwhisperer · 26/01/2021 20:29

I get this from wearing a mask all day at work. My nasal membranes are bone dry

udnertheradar · 26/01/2021 20:33

Enski76. Exactly!! Hahahahahaha

No problems with my eyes Canyons. And I don't wear a mask all day. So strange

Exactly how my nose felt when I had Covid. Felt like my nose had been stripped!

Thingywhatsit · 26/01/2021 20:59

The feeling of my sinuses being washed out with neat chlorine came about a week in, I definitely had a very dry and sore nostrils on about day 2 or 3. Thing with Covid I found was that it was like Groundhog Day every day, but always slightly different.

I also had incredibly itchy palms from day 1 until about day 18. Even got tiny water blisters on them. They were horrid. Am on day 26 now and the last one dried up only a few days ago.

udnertheradar · 26/01/2021 21:06

Well this isn't looking good is it? So weird that this isn't a commonly known symptom

OP posts:
BaronessVonCake · 26/01/2021 21:11

I had this when I had covid- as well as loads of other weird symptoms - nose was so, so dry inside.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 26/01/2021 21:12

Had this loads. Tested negative twice. Don't assume ‘this isn’t looking good’ get internet confirmation bias. Getting a test is your only option.

udnertheradar · 26/01/2021 21:17

Yes I have a test booked for tomorrow first thing

Definitely for toddler and I. He kept saying his nose was hurting. I knew what he meant because I had the same. I ordered a humidifier straight away.

Viruses can impact on the mucus producing cells.

You’ll only get confirmation once tested.

Emski76 · 26/01/2021 21:52

How strange! I really thought I had sinusitis! Two weeks in almost and still have the feeling as well as the most site, dry eyes!! Almost like conjunctivitis! Such a strange illness. Keep us updated on your results OP

udnertheradar · 26/01/2021 22:09

Will do
