I recently found out the name of something which was discontinued years ago and I still mourn.

Terrys Moments - Hexagonal chocolate with a caramel filling inside

Orange Chewits I swear are gone too.

Anything else missed?

@haliborange0verdose if you look upthread you'll see I've posted a link for the Schweppes Russchian, which you can still buy in Sainsbury's. And the dessert you're thinking of is, I think, Birds Lemon Crunch?

We used to have Tropical Quash when I was younger - it was bright green, like Fairy Liquid. The only squash I actually used to like.

BIWI · 27/01/2021 12:29

lots of old favourites here!

20viona · 27/01/2021 12:36

Toast toppers

SEE123 · 27/01/2021 12:37

Snow flakes

haliborange0verdose · 27/01/2021 12:43

The summer that we bought our first house (1997!) Tesco did this range of flavoured fizzy water that was like sweets. I think there was pear drop, rhubarb and custard, maybe one or two others. It was gorgeous and I still miss it!
Also chicken kievs filled with curry sauce instead of garlic butter 🤤

haliborange0verdose · 27/01/2021 12:46

I've just googled the chocolate orange alternative... Terry's made a Chocolate Lemon from 1979 to 1982! I knew I hadn't imagined it 🤣

bettybigballs · 27/01/2021 13:02

I can't remember the name of this, i think Bird's Eye made it, late eighties, was creamy mushroom in a shredded potato filling, they were amazing and i think about them most weeks

Torvean · 27/01/2021 13:08

@LandGirlJudy

St Ivel Gold Birds Hot Banana Crunch
Yes. Hot banana crunch. My friend reminisces how when she came for dinner after school my mum would make it.

I wish it would come back Sad

starfishmummy · 27/01/2021 13:10

Sainsburys hsed to do little pots of a stir through mushroom pasta sauce. It was delicious as it was on pasta, rice ir even toast for a quick meal and a great base for adding things to.

You definitely hadn't. Missed by us too.

Matinee Selection/ Carousel (both were boxed chocolates with other things like marzipan fruits or hard fondants etc)

Ipso's (like tic tacs but the box was like a big lego brick)

Cabanas

Vesta chicken supreme

As for non-food items I had a sudden urge last year to buy one of those yellow plastic hedgehog pen holders from the 1980s where you'd stick your pens and pencils in its spines. After a year of looking I finally managed to find one on Ebay and ended up paying over £30 for it Shock It was worth every penny as it makes me smile every time I see it.

LaMarschallin · 27/01/2021 13:24

This is a fairly recent one: M&S used to do freeze-dried strawberries coated in Belgian white chocolate.
I swear I got genuinely addicted to them.
They also did freeze-dried raspberries in white chocolate and nuts in milk chocolate.

They always mentioned it was "Belgian" chocolate on the packets.

I'd pay good money for a new supplier of those.

TrimmedMyBush · 27/01/2021 13:34

Sara Lee Pecan Pie....it wasn’t like the ones you see in restaurants, more like a cinnamon bun but was AMAZING.

cardoon · 27/01/2021 13:43

@EmmanuelleMakro

Potato puffs (yes I am old) Aztec bars (ditto) Aqua Libra (best ever non-alcoholic non-sweet drink)
Oh, how I loved Aqua Libra, can't believe they discontinued it

@haliborange0verdose

Have not read any responses yet so don't know if these have already been mentioned, but....
  • Lamb & Mint sensations crisps.
  • Peanut Cracknell Quality Street and also the one that was a little jelly in chocolate, don't recall what it was called.
  • Spira chocolate bars
  • Toast toppers
  • Vesta chicken chow mein with the crispy noodles
  • Pyramint
  • I am the only person that remembers this, but one Christmas when I was little (about 1980?) I remember my mum buying Terry's chocolate orange but also they made another variety, either lemon or apple. Literally nobody I know can recall this, not even my brothers, who I remember her buying them for! I thought they were so exotic!
  • Matchmakers when they were in a long thin box and the size of actual matches.
  • This dessert in a sachet that my mum used to get, you added boiling water to the custardy bit that was lemon flavoured, then there was another sachet of crunchy topping that went on top of the custard. Don't remember what it was called but I loved it.
  • Heinz tomato and chilli soup
  • Quosh squash, especially the strawberry flavour one which you could either dilute with water or add milk for a milkshake!
  • Club biscuits with plain chocolate, that had a "club" off a pack of cards on the pack.... for some reason the milk choc ones were called Golf Club?
  • United biscuits, especially the orange variety
  • M&S chicken in a basket flavour crisps
  • Wheelz crisps
  • Schweppe's "Russsschian" tonic water - my mum used to get this at Christmas and I thought it was so sophisticated!

I'm sure more will come back to me if I have a think!

I recall the old style Matchmakers and also Club Biscuits - I think these and some others were the only ones my DM would buy for mine and DB's packed lunches when we were kids.

Does anyone recall an ice-cream - I think it was around late 80s/90s but with an Italian name (not Gino Ginelli) but was in a round tube and was swirly and had chocolate bits/fake cream on top? It was lush. Of course Safeways or whoever sold it discontinued it.

Also in 1986/87/88 does anyone recall a conditioner for hair which was in a mousse? My bubble permed hair of that time loved that!

Mushroom feast! DH mourns it, he’d have it every Sunday!
JesusInTheCabbageVan · 27/01/2021 20:03

@icecreamgirl94

Cadbury Snaps. Anyone remember them?
Yes! The first thing I recognise. They were amazing.
JesusInTheCabbageVan · 27/01/2021 20:04

Tab. Though I think I'm the only one who feels that way.

hilariousnamehere · 27/01/2021 20:06

Spira
Secret bars - almost no one remembers them but they were amazing!
Polo holes 😂

Livpool · 27/01/2021 20:07

My DM and me talk about Secret bars and how lovely they were.

Spiras too!

Help77 · 27/01/2021 20:08

Does anyone remember Chocolate Lovelies? A chocolate mousse/dessert in individual pots with a circle of cream blobs on the top.
Loved them. Seem to remember Wendy Craig in the advert (or maybe I've imagined this bit!)

Hmmm our choc is a Belgian base and there's raspberry in one of our bars - I shall do some experimenting after lockdown! Never had the M&S ones but they sound amazing 😍

winterchills · 27/01/2021 20:13

I agree with marble bars!
