How’s Your Monday Going?

Grr just lost my whole post! Been to Pets At Home to get hay for the bunnies & popped into Aldi. DD12 is having an extremely moany day but is knuckling down to her schoolwork. If she put her energy into the work instead of trying to get out of it, she would fly! Frustrates me because she’s a really bright kid. If I homeschooled her permanently, we would kill each other! I have huge respect for friends of mine that have chosen that route & more respect than ever for teachers! It’s a beautiful crisp cold sunny day here in Cornwall so I’m going out for a walk after lunch. Tea is sorted - defrosting chicken breast fillets to serve with potatoes dauphinois & asparagus tips ( reduced to less than half price at Tesco Express last night). DH has made another superb whole meal loaf so probably going to have cheese on toast for lunch. Trying to sort out an ongoing parking dispute. I am at the legal intervention stage but absolutely determined not to pay up because I did nothing wrong! This is going back to April last year so pretty stressful. Luckily I found a lady who deals with cases like mine all the time & really knows her stuff 🙂

My work lap top has the screen of death, so I'm having to share laptops with the DC, around their schooling until IT can fix it. Means I can't do much work wise this morning, so I'm not complaining.

Powerplant · 25/01/2021 12:55

Packing, cleaning and sorting for our house move this weekend. Tea tonight is left overs from yesterday and now going to have coffee and a piece of chocolate cake before I tackle the kitchen cupboards.

EternalOptimist7 · 25/01/2021 13:41

Anyone else?

We’re off for a covid test soon, my son has a cough and a fairly high temperature so he is pretty miserable. He is having a danger nap at the minute, hopefully when we have had it done his results will be back quickly.

AnyFucker · 25/01/2021 13:48

Bored. Bored to all fuck.

LeroyJenkinssss · 25/01/2021 13:49

We are currently snowed in in our admitttedly lovely temporary accommodation after our house was flooded. We’ve abandoned homeschooling as internet is rubbish and kids are quite sensitive at the moment.

kennelmaid · 25/01/2021 13:49

Excitedly planning our new house build!

Jellysplat · 25/01/2021 13:50

Went to the park with toddler this morning and now Reading on the sofa while they nap. It’s the anniversary of my mums passing today so always feels like a strange day, no one else seems to have remembered though

CelieandNettie · 25/01/2021 13:50

Went out for a walk. Fell over on the ice not once but twice. Now nursing sore knee and enjoying last day in my 40s before the big birthday tomorrow

pumpkinpie01 · 25/01/2021 13:52

@LeroyJenkinssss oh god that sounds tough, did you manage to get much stuff out ? I'm just at work very bored, roll on 4pm.

CleverCatty · 25/01/2021 13:55

at home, WFH. Work emails and Skype were down intermittently and other packages which meant those of us who had a work Whatsapp account were messaging each other for updates.

Trying to work out if it was ok to go out (got sun but where I live in a vale (between two hills) for a walk - e.g. if too icy decided against it.

Online Amazon order delivered, surprised. Facetime call to DBro found out that the family shop for the week (expected yesterday) from Sainsburys wasn't delivered, no texts or anything so was speaking to him about this.

CleverCatty · 25/01/2021 13:56

This was my fear! Hope your knee is better soon! Do you have arnica?
CleverCatty · 25/01/2021 13:58

@AnyFucker

Bored. Bored to all fuck.
I concur.

Cannot muster any incentives to do any of the naice trendy cross-stitch kit I've got, have read/watched things to death.

The immense joy I got yesterday was finding Lindt bars in Sainsburys and scoffing a whole pack (tube?) of Fruit Pastilles.

Whatwouldscullydo · 25/01/2021 14:00

Bored out my brain...

I could chew an arm off just for something to do

JoanneCofton · 25/01/2021 14:02

It’s going ok, the sun is shining and the snow is melting so that’s good! DS is at school, I’ve been on nights so just woken up. That’s the end of that clinical placement though and I passed! Back
To online lectures next week.

I ordered some prints of our holidays which have been delivered, just had a quick flick through and have a serious case of holiday blues and still in disbelief at how we’re all living. On the plus side I’m having a maccies for tea and have the last episode of It’s A Sin to watch (HIGHLY recommend it)

wildthingsinthenight · 25/01/2021 14:03

OP I love your post and threads like this!

My 12 yr old has live teaching 9 til 3 and I realise we are SO LUCKY! We nearly killed each other last year in the first lockdown!!

Been for a snowy walk this morning listening to a podcast then came back and did a cooked breakfast for me and DH (WFH)
Bit of tidying up and been bingeing It's A Sin which is so good and so sad.
Tacos for tea

MackenCheese · 25/01/2021 14:11

DD12 has live lessons until 3.30 but we did have sausage baguette and salad for lunch together. Ds13 has basically quit school to just spend his life staring at rockets and bloggers... and I'm trying to be calm about it. No engagement with lessons, homework, nothing. Even though he has an ehcp for asd and school offered him a place (wouldn't go in) and now a shiny new laptop. I'm trying not to get angry. Just went for a walk in the brilliant sunshine to get milk- as the milkman didn't turn up- and ended up with £20 in groceries 😂. Now having an after lunch glass of wine and doing a jigsaw puzzle. 1000 pieces. Happy day overall..!!

LeroyJenkinssss · 25/01/2021 14:22

@pumpkinpie01 precious things and paperwork but furniture still there. Must admit insurance are being great (even though I have cried at the claims handler!)

H1978 · 25/01/2021 14:26

Very productive Monday today.

Cleaned and sorted out kitchen cupboards while homeschooling 10 year old dd. We did two lots of math sheets, an extensive writing piece and a ptse sheet answering questions but goals and dreams.

Cooked lunch and prepped dinner. White load in the dryer. Made a chocolate trifle I found when sorting cupboards.

Been for a walk and now relaxing with a cup of well earned coffee. Will tackle the ironing once the clothes have dried.

SingingSands · 25/01/2021 14:28

Well...

I walked to Tesco for lunch supplies. Decided not to grab a basket, did the “shopping Jenga” then dropped it all at the till. Carton of soup splattered everywhere. So embarrassing.

Bless the two young guys working who took it very well and said "we'll clean it up, we need something to do, it's been too quiet today".

Melange99 · 25/01/2021 14:29

Not too bad. I am wfh today but managed to get a walk over lunch in the sun. Washing all done. A few things on my To Do list have been checked off too. My deliveries have arrived. My DH is decorating the bathroom so out of my way.

EileenGC · 25/01/2021 14:29

Not really going to plan but not a disaster either. I was at work 9.30-1.30pm, had to do a PCR this morning and I'm pretty sure I did it wrong and there won't be much of a sample on the swab. I do these 3 times a week and always get paranoid though. Results will come in tonight so we'll see... rest of the morning was fine, not too productive but my section leader and I did some very thorough prep for tomorrow's rehearsal (sorry if this sounds like Chinese).

I walked back which took an hour so that's my steps done today, have just had lunch whilst watching TV and mumsnetting. I was meant to re-start work half an hour ago but there is still washing up to do and the kitchen to tidy Blush I will do 1.5h more of work, then I need to do a load of laundry and catch up with my language coursework. Then this evening I have 2.5h of said language on zoom... it's an intensive course and I really want to skip it this week because work is going to be mentally draining, but I'll miss like 4 teaching units if I do (and a crazy amount of money Sad).

CalamitiesRus · 25/01/2021 14:34

Beautiful, snowy bright day here. Kids (teen and pre teen) home educated so we fed the sheep, chickens, geese and horses and then all went out sledging on the farm hills. I think I've taken about a million photos and now have a headache from the sun but the kids are knackered and happy!

ladyvimes · 25/01/2021 14:44

Sat at home trying to work in a shit tip of a house. Bored and stressed out of my mind. Have opened a box of after eights that were stuffed at the back of the cupboard left over from Christmas. Now feel fat too.

sunflowersandbuttercups · 25/01/2021 14:48

I'm a dog walker so went to work this morning. Took my first group to the beach (which was partly frozen much to their confusion) and the second through the muddy fields.

Came home, had lunch, and now I'm watching trashy reality TV on YouTube and I'm about to feed the dog/cats.
