I enjoyed Tullulah. Watched it last night...what would you recommend for me tonight?

The foreigner

Balaur · 24/01/2021 20:25

Destroyer. It's brutal but Nicole Kidman is amazing in it.

Bloodybridget · 24/01/2021 20:26

I've never heard of Tullulah, so that doesn't give me a clue to your taste in films, but we watched an Italian film on Netflix a few weeks ago called The Life Ahead, it was excellent, very moving.

Overseasmom100 · 24/01/2021 20:30

BloodyBridget is Sofia Loren in that? I think I read a review may give that ago

Bloodybridget · 25/01/2021 05:38

@Overseasmom100 yes that's right.

Milomonster · 25/01/2021 08:00

Three Billboards was amazing! Strong female lead character.

Sober4Summer20 · 25/01/2021 15:06

Ready or Not

Needhelp101 · 25/01/2021 15:08

The Hunt. Watched it again the other day and 'enjoyed' it even more. Makes you think!

SmidgenofaPigeon · 25/01/2021 15:24

Nightcrawler, it’s not an easy watch due to the graphic nature/uncomfortable subject matter but I thought it was brilliant and a great performance by Jake Gyllenhall, quite joker-esque. It’s not a true story but it is about the lengths TV channels might go to to secure exclusive news footage.

I actually watched it by accident because I meant to click on something about Ted Bundy, but I’m really glad I ended up seeing it.

SomethingWycked · 25/01/2021 15:28

The Upside on Amazon prime. I found it surprisingly good. Bryan Cranston, Kevin Hart, Nicole Kidman star.

skippy67 · 25/01/2021 16:01

The Hunt!

sandgrown · 25/01/2021 16:05

I agree with 3 billboards . Great film

Chickenkatsu · 25/01/2021 16:06

White Tiger and Dolomite

For pure ridiculous escapism, Battleship. Excellent nonsense. If this is the kind of film you're after anything with Mark Wahlberg is also worth a watch. It won't be award winning by any stretch of the imagination but good old silly escapism.

For something a bit more thought provoking, I watched Peanut Butter Falcon recently. I had goose bumps at the end, a really lovely film.

Oooh, yes, Three Billboards was also very good, saw that at the weekend. Quite darkly comical in places. The ending is very frustrating open too.

KeepOnKeepingOnKeepingOn · 25/01/2021 16:14

Loved Three Billboards too.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople is great, as is Green Book - both entertaining and thought provoking

CleverCatty · 25/01/2021 16:15

I've recently seen two films on Channel 4 website, by Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda, one called Our Little Sister and the other called Shoplifters.

Both have child actors in them and you will be blown away by their acting. Totally different in filming and plot, dialogue etc to Western films.

Have also seen South Korean film Parasite too and that's in a similar vein.

AprilThe8th · 25/01/2021 16:16

Run.Sarah Paulson stars in it.Brilliant film.

CleverCatty · 25/01/2021 16:16

if you want a vintage film, The Nun's Story with Audrey Hepburn and Peggy Ashcroft is on IPlayer now - watched that the other afternoon - amazing acting by all actors/actresses, Hepburn is brilliant and Ben Hur pipped it to the Oscars!

Factor in memories of me attending a convent (as a non RC) and a bit chilling but fascinating!

CleverCatty · 25/01/2021 16:21

other good films (foreign) are Swimming Pool (French) (Charlotte Rampling), The Return (2003) Russian film about two brothers.

both very good.

larrythelizard · 25/01/2021 16:23

I watched Tag on Netflix the other night. Utterly ridiculous but surprisingly entertaining!

kennelmaid · 25/01/2021 16:27

I watched Parasite at the weekend to see for myself what made it a Best Picture Oscar winner. Loved it.

InglouriousBasterd · 25/01/2021 16:40

I Give it a Year. So, so funny!
