Do you use your dishwasher for anything other than the usual?

I've unloaded the dishwasher and I thought I'm sure I can use this for other things. I know some have used it for vodka, what do you put in your dishwasher that's not the norm?

I like to slam my husband’s knob in the door when he’s not behaving. Trouble is I think he likes it.

Seeingadistance · 21/01/2021 09:08

I washed my wellies in the dishwasher last month. Worked very well!

Newchances · 21/01/2021 09:09

Apparently there's a dishwasher chicken recipe...haven't tried it though

My sister has cooked a whole salmon in hers. I don't eat meat, but DH and DS liked it a lot! It just seems grim to me, like cooking in a grubby pan! Hmm

ShirleyPhallus · 21/01/2021 09:20

I tried the dishwasher salmon recipe once and it did not go well

😷

bluubear · 21/01/2021 09:28

I'v washed DC toys in there and other random bits of plastic etc. Wouldn't cook in there though.

TeaAndStrumpets · 21/01/2021 09:32

Brabantia bin lid. Not supposed to, but it's a pain scrubbing by hand! I put it in by itself on a quick wash.

Sarahlou63 · 21/01/2021 09:35

Brings my Crocs up a treat!

Ellieboolou33 · 21/01/2021 09:35

No! I find it grim to use it for anything other than what it's intended for.

Wellies in the dishwasher is vile 🤢

gamerchick · 21/01/2021 09:37

Don't some people put their toilet brushes in?

I suppose they get hot enough but it's a bit gross in my head.

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 21/01/2021 09:39

Kitchen bin lid
Kids bath toys
I think that's about it

Wash the dish drainer from beside the sink on occasion when I am doing a "clean the dishwasher itself" cycle.

I tried the wire racks from the oven in it recently thanks to a tip on here, and was amazed how much dirt came off them!! (Now I just need to clean the rest of the oven...).

I know a DAunt has poached a salmon in hers - wrapped in 3 layers of tin foil, and having done the "clean the machine" cycle the day before.

rogueantimatter · 21/01/2021 09:47

Lego and similar.

TroysMammy · 21/01/2021 09:50

Sterilizing jam jars.

Coniferhedge · 21/01/2021 09:51

I read recently about someone putting the metal trivets from the top of their gas stove into the dishwasher because they were a pain to scrub and get clean. I tried it and I am converted - it works a treat! No more scrubbing for ages with Brillo pads!

🤮 I really hope people don't do this!
BlingLoving · 21/01/2021 10:08

Yup - the metal trivets from my gas stove. I also remove the filter things from above and put those in.

I hadn't thought of putting the oven racks in - will give that a go.

Am planning to put the drawer from the washing machine in this week. I soaked it, scrubbed it etc but it's still not completely clean so thought the dishwasher could work.

When kids were younger I routinely put plastic toys, especially ones used in the bath, in there.

DaphneBridgerton · 21/01/2021 10:12

Surely people are joking about cooking salmon in the dishwasher?!

huggzy · 21/01/2021 10:13

The scrubbing brush I use to clean potatoes and the toothbrush I use for cleaning around the taps.

Tweezers, after I'd used them to hook something out of the plug hole.

ElizaLaLa · 21/01/2021 10:13

🤮🤮🤮

MaidofKent78 · 21/01/2021 10:14

Biothane horse tack (plastic bridle and breastplate). I hose off the worst of the dirt first. Works a treat.

EspressoExpresso · 21/01/2021 10:15

Kids bath toys

ClangingChimesofDoom · 21/01/2021 10:16

To make vodka? Interesting! How does it work? Not that my lockdown drinking is out of control or anything Grin

Sheleg · 21/01/2021 10:18

Ughhh why would you cook in the dishwasher?? Just use the stove or microwave like a normal person.
