Sudden sense of impending doom

It's really weirded me out. Just randomly got hit by this feeling of impending doom. Like a really anxious sinking feeling in my stomach and my brain just feeling, well, doomy? Never suddenly felt like this before!

So glad to see people are telling you to get checked out, please speak to/see a doctor.

GalOopNorth · 21/01/2021 08:31

Doctor.

I posted before - the shoulder tip pain was another of my symptoms. Please get checked out today.

ladymuck111 · 21/01/2021 12:49

I suffer with Anxiety and that is exactly how I feel when I'm anxious. It is a horrible feeling and if I distract myself enough it tends to go away.

But after reading your last post I would say get checked out just to rule out ectopic.

Oh lordy, sounds like ectopic to me, when you take all your symptoms into account.
Hope you are getting seen somewhere.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 21/01/2021 15:22

I think as other people are suggesting an ectopic pregnancy is possible it is worth getting that checked out.

But just to add I had weird anxiety symptoms when I was in my first trimester of pregnancy - prob the hormonal changes.

RosesforMama · 21/01/2021 15:30

My "possible covid" started with a sense of doom, then diarrhea, palpitations, sore throat, cough, back pain and weeks of indigestion.

However if you are ttc and have shoulder pain then I think a check up for ectopic would be sensible.

I thought that it was more a case of 'feeling as though you might die' with Sepsis rather than a 'sense of impending doom' being common/an indication of sepsis? I understand that it can accompany a sudden drop in low blood pressure though, by this point it would it should be obvious that you are very unwell. My husband was in a coma with sepsis for weeks and I raise awareness of Sepsis for The Sepsis Trust and we have never been told/asked to convey a sense of impending doom as a symptom. That's not to say that it doesn't happen of course, just that it's not considered as an important early indicator, given that other symptoms are more prevalent/obvious first. My understanding is that with other conditions, such as a heart attack/blood clots is that it can be an early indicator/first sign in the absence of other major symptoms.[/quote]
I had atypical sepsis as I was pregnant at the time, which can change symptoms.

I had that sense of doom, the sense that I had two to three more days absolute max to live. Mind you the abdominal pain was dreadful, so it wasn't like there were no other symptoms!

kamalasshaman · 21/01/2021 17:19

Hi OP really think you should get checked. If you're TTC it's a good idea and the midwives will be absolutely happy that you've been in touch.

mylovelydd · 21/01/2021 17:35

I am in surgical menopause and have HRT and when my HRT is running out (I have implants) I get that doomy feeling. For me it means my oestrogen is dropping

IntoTheRoses · 21/01/2021 20:32

I just want to say thank you to those who suggested I get help, my husband was insisting I sleep it off but 20 hours in hospital later it appears lots of you were right about an ectopic. I had no idea that I was even pregnant. I'm feeling a bit in shock. I just wanted to update incase anyone stumbles across this thread in future as it could help someone else as it has helped me.

IHateCoronavirus · 21/01/2021 20:39

Thank goodness you are in hospital op, but I’m sorry what you are going through. Did you get there in time? Flowers

StealthPolarBear · 21/01/2021 20:40

Glad you got help in time op. Get well soon Flowers

Bellie99 · 21/01/2021 20:42

Glad you got checked out. How are you now?

addicted2spaniels · 21/01/2021 20:43

It's amazing how our bodies try to warn us we're in trouble.

Hope you're on the mend soon, OP Flowers

bonzo77 · 21/01/2021 20:46

Gosh. So glad you got help. I only just read the thread tonight, but as soon as you mentioned shoulder pain, your age and the unusual period, my first thought was ectopic pregnancy. Hope they are looking after you, and sorry for your loss.

HandsFaceSpaceHopper · 21/01/2021 20:49

Thank goodness you didn't ignore it like some on this thread suggested I'm looking at you @Supersimkin2.

Hope you're feeling better soonThanks

Vinosaurus · 21/01/2021 21:04

Crikey - sorry OP. So glad you didn't ignore it.

For those who said "gah, it's just anxiety, stop scaremongering". I had suffered from anxiety/panic disorder for years preceding my pulmonary embolism, but the sinking feeling of doom when I woke up in the night (not too far away from carking it, as it turned out) was very different. I knew something was wrong - difficult to describe - even before the physical symptoms appeared.

Borisjohnsonshairbrush · 21/01/2021 21:13

Wow OP. Been there 2x with ectopics. 1st (age 18) one was treated with methotrexate and 2nd ( age28) was tube removal. Please drop me a line of you need to talk. I have gone on to have a healthy pregnancy in between though xxx

Moonflower12 · 21/01/2021 21:17

@Vinosaurus I had it too. Just before my PE. That's what made my DP realise how ill I was.

OP, glad you're getting sorted. The shoulder pain gave it away as ectopic to me.

SwanShaped · 21/01/2021 21:35

Wow glad you’re ok.

ladymuck111 · 21/01/2021 21:36

I kept checking back here to see if you updated. So glad you got seen to and sorted out!!

Lucieintheskye · 21/01/2021 21:41

I'm so sorry OP, what a shock it must be for you. I hope you're okay now and you've received treatment and support. We're here for you Flowers

manybirdsnests · 21/01/2021 22:01

Thank you for coming back and updating OP; what a horrible experience for you! So glad you sought treatment and you're being cared for.

Hope you soon feel better Flowers

GalOopNorth · 21/01/2021 22:15

Ah I am so glad you got help - yes I had exactly the same symptoms with my ectopic, which later ruptured and was nearly the end of me!

I am so sorry though, what a horrible shock. All best wishes for a speedy recovery.

KeeefBurtain · 21/01/2021 22:25

So glad you’re safe. Instinct is a powerful thing.
