Random 'extras' in grocery deliveries - have you had this??

thecountdownfinal · 16/01/2021 11:36

Not substitutions. I've had (separate occasions) -

6 bags of cat litter when I ordered 1.

2 blocks of cheese when ordered 1, and a random multipack of crisps I never ordered.

A massive finest pizza (on the day I was starting a diet!!), didn't order any pizza.

36 (!!) Muller Rice pots and a pack of Clementines. Neither ordered, although there were a lot of items missing from that order so maybe it was a 'sorry' Grin Grin.

Never been charged for any of these nor do they appear in the order summary.

Anyone else??

Yes regularly but they usually belong to a different shopper and have fallen through the racks into mine.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 16/01/2021 11:56

At Christmas I got 3 20m rolls of foil and a bottle of Tattinger, I did let them know but was told to keep it.

Ginkypig · 16/01/2021 12:01

Yes sometimes but not often, it’s normally a small cost item latest one was Last week I got two premade ready to put in the oven baked potatoes with cheese and bacon. (Like a ready meal) I don’t eat meat but dp had them. Not great but edible was the result but better with beans apparently.

Its always too late to say to driver as dp takes delivery and doesnt think I if I haven’t ordered them.

furrabootswisye · 16/01/2021 12:04

As a poor student I got a bag full of finest food (think it was all ready meals) and posh alcohol .

Customer services phoned 20 minutes later and told me they knew it had been delivered to me and I had to give the lot back or I’d be taken up for theft .

I was devastated, I’d already stuck it in the freezer !!

Ginkypig · 16/01/2021 12:05

I did used to call but they always say keep it and eventually the guy on the phone just said don’t call unless it’s a really expensive thing as it’s not worth coming for it.

Shelby30 · 16/01/2021 12:12

Ha happened occasionally but never anything exciting. Kitchen roll one time and maybe multi pack of crisps, oh ah a mega box of own brand ice lolly's one time. I've also had things not show up though and not realise for a while so swings and roundabouts.

Rockbird · 16/01/2021 12:15

Big tray of chicken thighs a couple of weeks back. I'd only ordered one and got two. Thanks very much Tesco, feel free to do it again! Grin

BoogleMcGroogle · 16/01/2021 12:15

I once had two extra bags of groceries delivered by Waitrose. They were obviously from someone else's order. The most extraordinary combination of stull from salad cream to umamu paste. I was on maternity leave, bored and tired at the time and I can honestly say it made my week!

Spied · 16/01/2021 12:22

-A bottle of sauvignon blanc ( I don't drink but gave it to a friend.

  • A chilled Hunters chicken meal.
  • A jar of Jim jams chocolate spread.
-A frozen pizza. -10 cartons of long-life milk.
RB68 · 16/01/2021 12:46

I have had extras but all appeared on the bills - I thought I was going mad. But I think the sainsburies website has been a bit glitchy for the last couple of months. It wasn't anything that was a problem and as I repack into bags to transfer to kitchen I am pretty good at picking them up and returning them to the driver for refunds if needed

rosetylersbiggun · 16/01/2021 14:10

I once got an entire bag of mint Vienettas.

35andThriving · 17/01/2021 20:21

No, I have had stuff missing from orders several times though. The driver nearly drove off with my birthday cake the other day!!

DDiva · 17/01/2021 21:02

One time I got 10 fajita kits rather than the 1 I wanted but that was my mistake when ordering.

Freebies I've had 2 sachets to make jelly, 3 large onions and a bottle of maple syrup! The best one was an enormous roll of their loose veg bags which lasted for ages and were very handy......

I have phoned to tell them but they always say just keep it, so I dont bother anymore .....

ireallyamthewalrus · 17/01/2021 21:05

I’ve been online shopping weekly for many years and have never had something I didn’t order

WhyIsMyKitchenSoCold · 17/01/2021 21:08

Last week there were lots of doubled up items - four bags of flour, not two, two jars of peanut butter, not one, six small bottles of wine, not three. I called and they could not have been less interested. There was probably around £25 extra in the order.

Sainsburys added 2 beef tomatoes, not on my receipt or ordered by me. I said it to the driver who insisted I must have ordered them.

ThatDamnKrampus · 17/01/2021 21:31

2 x steak
2 x Posh cheese cakes
Potato gratin
2xpremade salads
2 x ready meals

Didn't order and wasn't charged. Felt bad for whoever didn't get their shopping.

ThatDamnKrampus · 17/01/2021 21:32

Just read that back and sounds sarcastic. It really wasn't meant to. I did call but told to keep.

Begonias · 17/01/2021 21:39

6 bottles of prosecco and a meat pizza. Handed them back to the driver, I don't drink and I don't eat meat so no use to me. Plus my conscience wouldn't let me win on keeping shopping I haven't paid for

SpaceRaiders · 17/01/2021 21:39

3 loaves of ciabatta.
Avocado.
4 bags of spinach, only ordered one.
2 packets of flat breads
A packet of croissants.
A packet of pain au chocolat.
2 sets of petit filous, only ordered one.

I only realised once I got home. I called Waitrose to say my order must have been mixed with someone else’s. I was told to keep it.

This evening, two packs of Bird’s Eye chicken quarter pounders.

Previously I once received half my order and when I rang up got sent the full order again, the next day, with a couple of random extras. We didn’t shop again for a fortnight.

BlueGreenMeadow · 17/01/2021 22:00

I once went to the cupboard, and there was random cat food, and tins of dog food, but nothing like the kind I usually buy, which is all dry stuff.

Then I opened the food cupboard, and there was so many packs of biscuits and chocolate bars, and boxes of cakes!
Just so many things I never buy, and just so many of them

I’d been out, and my husband had put the shopping away, so I asked where it all had come from, genuinely mystified.

You bought it all he said, well of course I hadn’t bought any of the sweet stuff, or that dog and cat food, but we did seem to have all my shopping.

I checked what I’d bought, listed all the extra stuff, and rang the supermarket

They said to keep it. I must have asked a few times if they were sure.

My children were really pleased, as was my husband because there was so much chocolate.

I felt awful, as there was obviously someone out there, with a really sweet tooth, whose animals wouldn’t be fed either.

I assumed it belonged to an old lady, as there were old fashioned cakes and chocolate bars, lots of mr kiplings, and picnic and penguin biscuits, but they could have been anyone’s I guess.

In my husband’s defence, he said he thought I’d gone mad, buying so much cake and sweet stuff, but he assumed it was ours.

I got a lovely Victoria sponge this week. I was worried they had subbed my dads fruit cake with it, but then realised we had both and it wasn't on the receipt and I cheered to myself. Got to love free cake.
