Random 'extras' in grocery deliveries - have you had this??

Not substitutions. I've had (separate occasions) -

6 bags of cat litter when I ordered 1.

2 blocks of cheese when ordered 1, and a random multipack of crisps I never ordered.

A massive finest pizza (on the day I was starting a diet!!), didn't order any pizza.

36 (!!) Muller Rice pots and a pack of Clementines. Neither ordered, although there were a lot of items missing from that order so maybe it was a 'sorry' Grin Grin.

Never been charged for any of these nor do they appear in the order summary.

Anyone else??

@rosetylersbiggun

I once got an entire bag of mint Vienettas.
Oh I'd love that mistake!! Grin

Had some extra blocks of cheese , and a bottle of washing liquid last week plus a few things I had taken out of my basket online ...they turned up anyway and I didn't get charged . I didn't realise till the guy had gone . Nice to have a few surprise items !

Itsagrandoldteam · 17/01/2021 23:04

I have only ever had an extra box of Magnums for free. Makes up for the gravy missing from the week before.

My sister got 24 toilet rolls for free a few months ago.

I was just about to say that we've never had random extras, but then remembered the time when we had an extra carrier bag full of meat. Didn't realise until we were unpacking and the delivery guy had gone. We eat mostly vegetarian meals.

When I first started online shopping with Morrisons I got a free smiley Gingerbread Man with a Morries green waistcoatSmile

Happynow001 · 18/01/2021 03:30

Twice received a bottle of champagne a couple years ago
A really delicious lasagne for two a few months ago.
I wish they'd make that mistake more often! 😂

CarrieMoonbeams · 18/01/2021 03:48

A large pack of pork chops and an even larger packet of chicken breasts once, from Tesco.

I'm vegetarian and DH eats very little meat (because he'd feel obliged to cook it himself, even though cooking it doesn't bother me) - we were unpacking it all and he said "wow, cheers for all the meat"! Tesco didn't want it back so DH was happy with his free barbecues over the summer!

Morrison’s often seem to put something extra in (like a bag of carrots or biscuits from the bakery for example, usually fresh things). I thought maybe because they had a surplus that had to be used before it went off but never considered that it could have been a mistake.

A few weeks before Christmas Asda text me to say driver was on the way, but that all the items I ordered were unavailable (£90 worth of food!). I called and they said there was a glitch and that in fact everything was being delivered. I got a complete refund the following day for the whole order!

BashfulClam · 18/01/2021 09:43

On our first online shop we got done iced donuts. I asked DH who placed the order why he ordered them as he normally buys chocolate ones if he’s getting donuts. He said ‘I didn’t order them!’ We checked the paperwork and no donuts..they were really nice too!

mdh2020 · 18/01/2021 09:47

Our very first order last year we received a set of pillowcases. The deliverer said he couldn’t take them back as they weren’t on our bill.

Happynow001 · 19/01/2021 22:47

I received some free kefir in my shopping today - looking forward to trying it for breakfast.

TalesTheCat · 20/01/2021 01:49

Last week my delivery driver told me he was so busy that to fit my whole order on his van he had to put a some of my shopping into someone else's tray. If all packers do this I guess this is how some people get items free,

grassisjeweled · 20/01/2021 02:40

Blood pressure monitor and some small Mason jars from Walmart Hmm

Stressful, is jam making

VanillaSheHer · 20/01/2021 02:52

Just before Xmas we had four different toes of flour, glacé cherries: ground & whole almonds, marmalade, some rolls and some sugar free mints.

Then in Twixtmas we got four dozen eggs.

mantlepiece · 20/01/2021 02:59

I thought it was just met his happened to!

I got a litre bottle of whisky and then a couple of weeks later a £46 bottle of Moët.

I am expecting a new grandson in May so the champagne is in the cupboard to celebrate the arrival 😂

DiscustinHunAmFummin · 20/01/2021 08:23

Usually little extras are marked as ambient sample on the list.

I did also get a free 24 pack of toilet roll last month which I was assured was part of my order. Felt like I'd won the pandemic lottery.

Tumbleweed101 · 20/01/2021 08:29

Have had odd bits now and then but nothing notable. I did get a random body spray once, one I wouldn’t have picked, and the smell was lovely - I’ve bought it for myself since!

girlofthenorth · 28/01/2021 10:10

I'm wondering who got my vileda super mop that went missing last week......

Bert2020 · 28/01/2021 10:15

During lockdown one a Charlie Bigham’s meal but that was handed over by the driver with compliments. Several times now we’ve had entire bags of shopping missing, bakery, freezer etc so annoying and we’ve stopped using a particular chain because they are persistent at doing this.

BearSoFair · 28/01/2021 11:29

Cat litter, we definitely hadn't ordered any (we had ordered cat food though) as next door neighbour had given us 2 bags after sadly losing his cat. Driver insisted it was ours as no other delivery on the van had pet products.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 28/01/2021 11:38

One time I got a whole tote of stuff that wasn't mine. I did hand that back.
Got a free bag of sweet potatoes once.
Another time I thing a whole tote of mine got forgotten. It was full of stuff DH had put on the order so I didn't notice at first.
