@Fabpinky

I love it! I like how there is no second initial cushion just A & blank. Reminds me of when my ex took his initial cushion when he moved out
I noticed this too.

Any city that invents its own chip spice is dear to my heart

I grew up in Hull just off Beverley Road, we lived on Inglemire lane and Etherington Road. Anyone remember the 63 trolley bus, a penny one please! Oh yes and the Stevens ice cream van that used to come round. We would rush out with our bowls and dishes. I think that the van is now in the Transport Museum in the Old Town. Love going home !

EachandEveryone · 15/01/2021 15:39

It’s Pennas icecream I always remember

It's a bit overdone for me. Too much stuff I'd have to pull out to make more ordinary.

It must be wonderful to live in places with prices like that if you're on a national pay scale.

ottermadness · 15/01/2021 15:49

Don’t live in Hull now, but always wanted one of the houses on Sunny bank. Quiet hidden gem for a long time. Quite close to spring bank!

Suzi888 · 15/01/2021 16:01

Why are they so cheap? Both look lovely and move in ready.

lambtonightok · 15/01/2021 16:07

I grew up in one of the West Hull villages many years ago. The Avenues used to be quite smart, full of Academic staff from the Uni, but Spring Bank definitely wasn't.
I used to go to a lovely outdoor pool on Albert Avenue.

user1471565182 · 15/01/2021 16:07

Its completely crazy down there Suzi. For context theres a shop owner who does regular video updates of people smoking crack in the phonebox outside his shop and I can think of about 6 murders down there off the top of my head in last few years.

user1471565182 · 15/01/2021 16:08

waheeeey he made national news

I was walking through there not long ago and saw a girl about 11 years old casually walking along huffing a bag of glue. I wouldnt live down there if you paid me.

Id recommend people have a look at Hull houses in Garden Village.

chocolatespiders · 15/01/2021 16:13

@MadameButterface the chip spice is soooo good on everything!

chrispenrallt1 · 15/01/2021 16:16

Lamb tonight ok
Yes I can remember swimming there in the outdoor pool and the funny little wooden door changing cubicles with the bench and the metal basket shaped like a body for your clothes!

RaraRachael · 15/01/2021 16:24

Awful flooring in the kitchen/dining area and the bar in the garden Hmm

user1471565182 · 15/01/2021 16:25

The Albert Avenue outdoor pool is still open. Well it closed but they reopened it a couple of years back. And they call it a 'Lido' now.

EachandEveryone · 15/01/2021 16:26

When I talk about the problems it’s Soring Bank you are referring to not the Avenues where the second and third houses are which had a thriving boho community. And Newland park is posh

lambtonightok · 15/01/2021 16:27

@chrispenrallt1 I'd forgotten those metal baskets. They had showers with a chain like old fashioned loos too?

bigbluebus · 15/01/2021 16:43

I've been to Hull quite a few times over recent years as DS did his degree there and loved it so much he's returned for his Masters. We've stayed in the old town and the Avenues and love both and have admired many of the properties in the area. We've visited great pubs/bars/restaurants - we even ventured into the Polar Bear one evening which was an experience in itself. We've always found people to be very friendly and have struck up a conversation with locals in pubs - remember the days when we could go out and do that!
Yes there are rough bits but being City of Culture has meant some investment and I'm sure once Covid is a distant memory there will be more improvements.

user1471565182 · 15/01/2021 16:48

ha last time I went to Polar Bear I ended up on the floor with about 50 people jumping over me. It was a Tuesday night though.

AldiAisleofCrap · 15/01/2021 16:50

I love the back garden.

You're older than I am. The corporation buses were Atlanteans when I lived there in the 70s.
Chel098 · 15/01/2021 16:54

The house itself looks homely. Not keen on the shower area though.

BethHarmon · 15/01/2021 17:03

Nice apart from the garden and the animal cage in the bedroom , urgh. Should have been advised to move that out of shot!
