I want that bannister from the second house, it’s lovely!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/01/2021 19:33

Ghastly decor IMO (each to their own) but certainly very cheap - compared with anywhere around here, anyway.

dancinfeet · 14/01/2021 19:35

It's hardly swanland or kirkella, not a great area and during rush hour the lower end of spring bank west near where it meets chanterlands ave down towards spring bank gets gridlocked. I wouldn't want to live round there simply because of how crazy the traffic can be going in/out of the town centre.

My cats would love this garden. I love the little balcony www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/88075315#/

Ah we lived in Hull and still have friends in the city (in the Avenues, not far from the 2nd house you posted). We had a great time there!

dancinfeet · 14/01/2021 19:36

And Hull fair week is an utter traffic nightmare for the entire district around the fairground!

claireb7rg · 14/01/2021 19:42

Springbank West is a hole. Its main artery into Hull and a nightmare in rush hour.

We've moved out to Hedon now and we've got much more house and land for the money.

claireb7rg · 14/01/2021 19:45

Beercocks are a bunch of wa*@£rs though

CressidaTheHeathen · 14/01/2021 19:56

That’s gorgeous. Really arty and you can tell the owners put a lot into it.

I don’t think Hull is the nicest place to live though (I live in the same county).

Fairydustrust · 14/01/2021 20:01

Are you missing your home town, op? I come from Hull..can you hear the accent? 😂😂

MissDollyMix · 14/01/2021 20:08

There are some lovely parts of Hull, however this isn’t really one of them. It’s a house that’s very much dressed to sell abs that always makes me feel a bit suspicious.I’d rather buy a fixer upper in a better neighbourhood.

EachandEveryone · 14/01/2021 20:17

Yes the road is horrible and I forgot about fair week. I do have a soft spot for the sprawling victorians on the avenue and there is a sense of community in that area. I also like the conversations they are doing by the marina which is a lovely area they are really bloody trying to bring it up. It was such a good year of culture, it seemed so promising.

I guess im missing it because I cant be there. When aim there Im bored after three days 😃😃😃

It's in bloody spring Bank. I'm surprised it costs so much.

OnlyBejoking · 14/01/2021 20:30

The second one is in a great area. The Avenues are lovely

Curlybrunette · 14/01/2021 20:36

I love how all us Hull folks have popped up!

Chicchicchicchiclana · 14/01/2021 20:43

Nothing about it does it for me unfortunately. Wtf with that panelling? It's a semi in Hull not the county Manor House! Kitchen flooring is hellish.

MrsAvocet · 14/01/2021 20:47

I've never been to Hull but interested in this thread because last year I was doing some family history research and discovered that I have ancestors from the area, though they left for Manchester in the 1840s. They were from Hessle - agricultural workers, which surprised me as I wouldn't have thought of it as an agricultural area. I guess everywhere was agricultural before the industrial revolution though. I'd quite like to visit some time - is Hessle a nice place? Anything to see or do in and around Hull that the locals would recommend?

WhyIsMyKitchenSoCold · 14/01/2021 20:50

I love Hull. I grew up in Anlaby and went to school in Kirkella. I think fondly of moving back there sometimes but my life is south now.

Crankley · 14/01/2021 20:54

Sorry, not for me - I loathe the plastic topiary 'plants' including those in the front garden which look utterly ridiculous. I especially loathe the square of plastic lawn. I don't like the 'feature walls' in the bedrooms, dislike the flooring in the dining room and kitchen, which is small. Bottom line: I wouldn't buy it, especially now I've read it's a dodgy area. What's to like?

EmmaStone · 14/01/2021 21:27

Aw, my grandma lived not far from your houses, and this has brought a smile to me this evening, thinking of staying with her, long evenings playing with local kids in the University playing fields behind her house, catching the bus to the Newland Ave shops, and gatherings with my enormous family who were still based nearing. We lived nowhere near, and when we did go to visit, there'd be parties, and get togethers, sleepovers with cousins. Ah, lovely memories.

TreesoftheField · 14/01/2021 21:35

Can't believe prices have increased even in Hull. 20 years ago houses were so cheap our friend's dad bought a student house for him rather than rent one - £42k!!

travailtotravel · 14/01/2021 21:37

Born in Newlands Avenue, moved to Greatfield when I was 3, then moved away all together at 12. Popped back to do my masters at the Uni. Having memories at all this!

SwedishEdith · 14/01/2021 21:43

I had a boyfriend who lived in The Avenues. Long time ago but I recognise the layout of that 2nd house. Got a soft spot for Hull.

raskolnikova · 14/01/2021 21:44

It has a nice cat

I like Humber Bridge Country Park, I think it's in Hessle.
