I would say washing up for myself.

My job. Bleurgh.

Getting small children out of a tantrum.

dun1urkin · 14/01/2021 21:25

Doing gel nails. I do my own and am getting really good at ‘staying in the lines’.
9 out of 10 people (family, friends, colleagues), upon finding I do them myself say ‘oooooh can you do mine?’ No. No I fucking can’t. I hate doing it and only do them myself because I like how it looks and it’s cheaper than paying someone else.
I’ve done my mum’s, once, as a treat. I am ashamed to say I did not do them with grace.

Facilitating other people's lives.

Frokni · 14/01/2021 21:28

Catching spiders without freaking out and putting them outside.

Dealing with difficult or angry people

I always get given the most awful clients at work (in all my jobs) as apparently I am good at listening and calming people down Hmm

The annoying thing is I just pretend, almost like acting a role, anyone can learn to do it.

Am fed up with dealing with angry men Grin

DIY. I taught myself to tile, grout, plasterboard, silicone, plaster, electrics, drilling ( masonry and plasterboard) , use of appropriate fixings, water and replacing taps. A new button board for my extractor fan, basic electrics. Replacing switch covers, laying wood floor and replacing flush button on closed couple toilet. Reconnecting integrated washing machines and dishwashers. Painting and glossing. Hanging trellis, replacing cracked patio slabs.

Got fed up of waiting for now , ex DH , to attempt these things and being ripped off by tradesmen. Trial and error and YouTube tutorials!

Don't like doing it, but i can when needed . Over last 9 yrs i calculate i have saved over £10k in trades "labour fees" all by doing it myself!

I’m in awe of this
Time40 · 14/01/2021 21:53

Cooking. I'm good at it, but I absolutely loathe it.

Making curtains.

Giving helpful feedback on writing. I'm very, very good at it, but it bores me to death - probably because I've done far too much of it.

Dont want to burst your bubble but I think that any woman who is prepared to get her chops around a knob is classed as "fantastic" :o

As the joke goes "Describe the worst blow job you ever had" Man- "Amazing!!" :o

Threelionsandalioness · 14/01/2021 22:00

Upcycling repurposing old furniture decoupage and wallpapering,i enjoyed it so much as well such a sense of achievement, especially as a single mum of three boys working full time ...well i thought so at least, but then my friends kept pushing "projects" my way and now its so mind numbing and hard work to me its just .....blurgh Grin

PyongyangKipperbang · 14/01/2021 22:01

Baking.

Its not that I dont enjoy doing it, but I really dont like sweet things so I dont eat cake!

I make some epic cakes, I think my (MASSIVE) golden snitch cake for DD3's birthday was my favourite, but didnt eat a bit of it! I follow WI recipes and am assured that my cake is lovely. I mean, I only have my families word for it but when I made a Paris Brest for a party once I had to get out the second one I had made for lunch at my parents the next day as the first one went in minutes so I assume I am ok at it!

Taking charge.Im.a but if a control freak but I don't enjoy it just can't help it.
Ah this is me. At school I always got “excellent leadership skills” or along the lines of in my reports. I actually really don’t like to be I charge but like you, can’t seem to help it.
Lesina · 15/01/2021 06:31

The important parts of my job. The less important part I’m actually fairly average but I love it. The important part I excel at and it bores me rigid.

sashh · 15/01/2021 06:44

How can you be good or bad at washing up? Methinks someone has got that into your head to make you do it all the time!

Oh you can be bad, my carer is improving but isn't great, and he's using a dishwasher!

Bad dishwashing - when you pick a 'clean' mug out of the cupboard and it has dried on stain.

The there is the 'leave until it grows mould' variety which I suppose is not actually washing up.

And having attended a girls' school run by nuns, I was taught how to wash up correctly. Yes we had an actual lesson and homework on washing up.

noodlezoodle · 15/01/2021 06:48

Being a manager. Hopefully, never again.

Small talk. I might be bored as anything on the inside, but I can keep pretty much any conversation going and make sure everyone's involved.

Mrscutesmummy · 15/01/2021 06:54

Sales I really am good at flogging stuff but I always feel guilty when I do it.

Gliblet · 15/01/2021 06:57

Reading reams and reams of something dry and dull, extracting the bits that are key/essential, and presenting them to others in a way that they immediately understand.

Thesagacontinues · 15/01/2021 06:58

I get the washing up one... my dishwasher broke last week so I had about 4 days of washing by hand. Getting the right balance of hot water/ cold water/ washing up liquid, then getting them washed, rinsed properly (so no washing up liquid after taste) and all stacked in the draining board was harder than I remembered!

For me I'd say its work also. I was pushed into a promotion last year and had the most glowing year end review from managers, along with really positive reviews from clients who are known to be difficult. For the most part, I hate my job and think Im only winging it.

margaritasbythesea · 15/01/2021 07:00

Sewing. I was very neat and precise but hated every second passionately. Gave it up 25 years ago. Rather curious about it now but can't bring myself to lay out on a machine in case I hate it again.

You can be bad at washing up. You can be bad at it and love doing it too (eyes DH).

Threelionsandalioness - I hear you. I took up knitting a year ago and have a bit of a knack. I loathe it when people tell me I 'should ' make something for a relative or a baby or something. It's my bloody hobby for my enjoyment. There's no should about it and feeling there is makes me truly unhappy. I spend the rest of my life caring for people. Knitting is for me. If running were my hobby, I wouldn't be told where or how fast I should go.

Snapsnapcrocodile · 15/01/2021 07:07

Organising all the billion things we need to do/bring before setting off to see the grandparents. They all live at the other end of the country and DC are small, so we generally stay a few weeks and need to stop overnight on the way.

Snapsnapcrocodile · 15/01/2021 07:07

Oh, and playing golf.
