At least...
It's driving me absolutely potty. I'm talking to her feet more than I am her face.
Just repetitive one after another after another handstand.
She does it so much that she's got a six pack starting. She is 6 years old.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Before anyone asks she does do gymnastic classes!
She does it in the lounge, on the bed, the sofa, in the garden, out on walks. Absolutely everywhere and it is very very irritating!

Buy her a small trampoline and some warm gloves. You can wave smiling through the window...

whyarentiskinnyet · 10/01/2021 16:42

ha, my LO used to do this, he grew out of it but spent about 6 months doing handstands all the time, also got a 6 pack, lucky thing!

jojoandgrangran · 10/01/2021 16:43

We do have a trampoline. That's a pretty good idea!!!

That was DD at 6! And cartwheels...

we'd be walking along doing the shopping, and an absent look would come over her face, and over she'd go, then carry on walking. She used to do a headstand on the sofa and watch TV upside down.

Now 13 and solidly the right way up Grin

jojoandgrangran · 10/01/2021 16:44

Oh gosh, and the cartwheels yes.
And the "watch me watch me" and "did you see that one?"

actiongirl1978 · 10/01/2021 16:45

Sounds brilliant! I could never handstand or cartwheel and neither could DD. I'm jwaoius!

actiongirl1978 · 10/01/2021 16:45

Jealous

Santaiscovidfree · 10/01/2021 16:46

Set up your phone at the window. You can watch it together.. And she can watch it endlessly!!

jojoandgrangran · 10/01/2021 16:46

It is not fantastic!
Well it's fantastic that she's pretty good at them, but she swipes her siblings in the face with her feet daily.
She spends 80% of her day upside down and she is obsessed. It's like a obsessive tick!
It must feel good to her? God knows!

I also have to video her hand standing. Sometimes in slow motion.
I have to rate handstands from 1-10 if I sit down on the sofa for more than 5 seconds over and over and over again.

Thats quite cute really.

ivykaty44 · 10/01/2021 16:48

tell her to learn to do a head stand and practice at keep still for a while... new tricks and more balance and coordination training

pisspants · 10/01/2021 16:49

mine used to be like this and then stopped when she was about 11 I think. The only time I could tell she was actually ill was when the handstands and cartwheels stopped!

bjjgirl · 10/01/2021 16:49

My girls went through this stage, get her watching you tube and find her new positions to master, pistols are good, crab walking, L sits all gymnastics but more up right

RoseMartha · 10/01/2021 16:50

No words of advice but you are not alone, I have a teen that does this. It is annoying. She even will do it through the shopping centre in town. Its been going on over two years, yet I live in hope that it is a phase.

CarrieErbag · 10/01/2021 16:50

Oh she sounds fabulous, I am however speaking as the parent of a dd with two left feet who couldn't operate a swing until she was 10 or ride a bike until even later.

Allington · 10/01/2021 16:50

Oh yes! the demands that I watch... time her... rate it out of 10 Grin

If it is any consolation, by the age of 13 you're lucky of they willingly spend 5 minutes a day in your company...

Pinkflipflop85 · 10/01/2021 16:51

Ds (also 6) is like this. Constant handstands, cartwheels and round offs. His toddler sister has learnt to steer clear!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 10/01/2021 16:51

I'm jealous too - if I could stand on my hands I'd do it all the time, and then learn to walk around the house like that, and then learn to lower myself into a graceful crab.

At least she will come out of lockdown h a new skill!

Allington · 10/01/2021 16:52

Now she does Tik Tok routines or practices pirouettes with spotting...

twoticksvix · 10/01/2021 16:52

This was me according to my mum! Always upside down Grin I joined gymnastics club age 6-14. Loved it!

Allington · 10/01/2021 16:53

Oh yes! Lowering herself backwards into a crab, then standing up again.

I was never able to do anything half as impressive

AtleastitsnotMonday · 10/01/2021 16:53

This used to be me! I did eventually grow out of it, but I’m pretty proud of the fact I can still do both a handstand and cartwheel at 35 (although I do later regret it!). To be fair, there’s worse things she could be doing!

TokyoSushi · 10/01/2021 16:53

I thought that we'd got over this when DD was 6.5 and it was constant last summer, I'm afraid to say that just as lockdown has started, the cartwheels have started again too! 🙄😂

Ikeameatballs · 10/01/2021 16:54

Been through this too!

I remember getting off the plane in Lanzarote and dd cartwheeling to from plane to airport.

It has passed now (in public) though she still goes to gymnastics, when it’s allowed. 14.8 years old!
