The saga continues to continue with more sequels than a trilogy of trilogies...

Today there are police everywhere in our bit of Wales, folk walking dogs this morning registrations checked, they are parked up in the supermarket, in lay bys along the road into town. How long can they keep this up, even the police need time off. This is a sleepy part of Wales not London. To be fair they check your registration if you are local you are not bothered by them. We had 17 deaths in Wales in our County 27 positive tests which (cough) we know are nosocomial infections in our hospital care homes in the main.

rosettesforjill · 11/01/2021 14:34

@Mrsfrumble so so sorry to hear about your FIL Thanks

Taswama · 11/01/2021 14:52

Flowers @Mrsfrumble . Sorry for your loss.

For you too @justasking111 and @CoffeeWithCheese .

DP pointed out the police must be a bit bored with no burgularies (sp?) or pissed people on a Friday night. I pointed out its now 3 women per week dying at the hands of their partners/ ex partners so maybe they could occupy themselves with that rather than harassing black women, black men, white women (in that order) who are on their way to work / exercising, whatever.

justasking111 · 11/01/2021 14:57

Three women dying is just awful. Beyond my ken to be honest. Suspect many more women are being beaten badly that do not form part of statistics.

Wonder what the statistics are for children being abused.

Mrsfrumble · 11/01/2021 15:01

Thank you for all the condolences. FIL and I didn’t always see eye to eye, but I loved him dearly anyway. And I’m so sad that the children have lost both of their grandfathers when they are so young.

DH has gone up north to be with lovely MIL. He wanted to do the right thing and get a Covid test before travelling, but the person on the NHS helpline told him he wasn’t eligible as he didn’t have symptoms, and would have to pay for a private one. Luckily I’d seen a post on the local Nextdoor about new testing centre in Hackney where anyone can have a free test with same day results, so he was able to get sorted before he set off. It’s a minor thing to be annoyed about in the grand scheme of things, but the NHS not even knowing about their own bloody testing centres just seemed like the cherry on top of a very shitty cake.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 11/01/2021 15:14

I am so sorry to all of you who are having difficult times at the moment, there are so many of you. @Mrsfrumble I am so sorry for the loss of your father in law. @mightbealittlebitmad it is so hard for you right now but others are right (and I know you know this too) your DH has no right to insist on sexual activity with you without your consent. Sex should always be consensual otherwise it's assault/rape. I feel for you as you are so trapped at the moment. Flowers to all struggling, I am sorry.

MercyBooth · 11/01/2021 15:48

@Mrsfrumble So sorry to hear about your FIL Flowers For all of you having difficult times Flowers @mightbealittlebitmad he has no right to touch you without your consent @justasking111 has he always been financially controlling?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 11/01/2021 16:16

Hi everyone, just say catching up with the thread. Honestly, so sad so that many are struggling in relationships, with bereavement, within their family and with this whole situation.

I wish I could do something practical to help Thanks

BogRollBOGOF · 11/01/2021 17:19

Survived the first day of live teaching. About 5+ hours of the DCs tag teaming eachother, plus a bit in the middle which was English, their nemisis which they did not get on with (I felt DS1's criticism was fair) and I did not oppose him turning it off youtube. He also needed a breather part-way through maths.
Gosh our dining chairs are so wooden. I'd fight DS1 for the wobble cushion but he'd fight to win! Wink

You know what I have just noticed? Throughout everyone's worries and distress, every post in response is empathetic and wishing to help and trying to reassure and sympathising. You are all a wonderful bunch and when we all feel hopeless, we ought to remember that there are women all over who are on our side. Here's to you, ADs, you are all bloody amazing Wine!

smallandimperfectlyformed · 11/01/2021 17:39

We had a homeschooling disaster today - the website that my children's school uses for its EYFS children has been crashing almost all day! I called the office at 9.20 approx, the receptionist said she would speak to the nursery teacher as there were some issues last week and at around 10.30 there was an email from the deputy head advising that the website was down! Every so often it would let me on but I only managed to see one task properly and upload that. Reception child's teacher called and I said I had had difficulty, basically everyone has! So we are a day behind already but thankfully my year 6 child's work is through Google classrooms and seems fine. It's hard to teach but otherwise am feeling ok and wishing everyone some peace and comfort for the moment xxx

Sorry for your loss @Mrsfrumble Flowers hope you're okay.

Just got home and neighbours daughter has just come out to say how much her mum thought of us Sad I will miss our doorstep chats. The daughter is only my age and they've 3 young kids. I'm so sad for them. I just wanted to give the poor lass a cuddle. I need to buy a card for her and her dad. Poor bloke. They don't know what happened, not covid. I only saw her the other day. She was totally fine. Sad

flower11 · 11/01/2021 17:54

Isaysteadyon lovely post. This is an oasis of niceness in amongst all the bad stuff.
Sorry for all those going through tough times.

My brain is completely frazzled after a day of school. The youngest only has twinkle work sheets and links to phonics apps.
Eldest has video tasks uploaded each day, maths, literacy, a comprehension and a topic activity.

Iheartmysmart · 11/01/2021 18:06

Isaysteadyon that’s a really lovely thing to say. It’s so nice to be part of such a supportive and knowledgeable group of people.

Also suffering from brain frazzle today. My excel incompetence has bamboozled me so I’m having a beer!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 11/01/2021 18:06

Just watching tonights presser, DH just laughed when powys just said to the sky news guy "When we were at Epsom earlier and you were there too....."
So where did they travel to Epsom from.....I mean a PR photoshoot isn't really an essential trip is it?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 11/01/2021 18:07

Also, Morrisons refusing non mask wearers unless they are "clearly exempt"
Well, fuck you Morrisons.

NeedWineNow · 11/01/2021 18:13

Just catching up today. Some many sad posts to read. Sending Flowers, hugs and strength to all those bereaved and/or struggling.

Orangeblossom77777 · 11/01/2021 18:23

Out for a walk yesterday as a family and saw a police car, then a police bike...car had "Coronavirus Enforcement Team" on the back Hmm

Felt paranoid with them watching people walking in the park. I have MH condition and on antipsychotics even before this. It really doesn't help does it.

Reedwarbler · 11/01/2021 18:38

Fucking police state we are turning into.

Recycledblonde · 11/01/2021 18:40

💐💐to all those who are struggling at the moment. We have so many cases at work, despite all the mask wearing and screens. One of the women is in ICU, she is ECV due to her BMI and was offered home working but didn’t want it. I think workplaces are the main sources of infection at the moment.
FIL is going for his vaccine tomorrow, DH is playing taxi and is taking a folding chair and a rug as there are apparently queues despite the strict appointments. A 93 year old nine stone chap is going to struggle if he’s waiting outside for long.
I’m actually rather glad I had it back at the start now.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 11/01/2021 18:43

Now bojo been caught riding his bike in Hammersmith Park, 7 miles from his home wonder if the Ds will change their definition of "local"

DrDiva · 11/01/2021 18:50

So sorry to all those having such a hard time Flowers I think of you all often during the day even when I can’t read!

smallandimperfectlyformed · 11/01/2021 18:53

I don't cycle but it is my understanding that you can go quite fast on a bike so wouldn't it be quite easy to cycle 7 miles? When I saw the headlines about him not staying local I thought it might be a bit more shocking than that! I am no fan of his but to me this is a non issue, same as him travelling to a vaccination centre- as PM I do believe it is right that he publicly states his support for these things. @Recycledblonde sorry about your colleague, I hope she makes a full recovery. Best of luck to your FIL for tomorrow!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 11/01/2021 19:10

Just saw a petition on Facebook to make nhs wages tax free.....

Yeah that's what we need heading into a massive financial crisis and the NHS in pieces....millions of people not paying any tax.
