Special meals & cocktails delivered

It's my 10 year anniversary this month, it's been a very difficult year for us (covid aside and included) so want to do something special at home.

We've agreed we are each going to plan a date night and I want to do something lovely.

Any ideas for special meals I could have delivered? I was looking at Hawksmoor steak meal kit with cocktails but I'd love some other ideas.

We've done the Hawksmoor several times and haven't been disappointed. Would recommend it.

doadeer · 08/01/2021 17:26

Which one did you get? Thanks

You can’t have alcohol delivered.

TheLifeAndDeathBrigade · 08/01/2021 17:29

We did one last month called chateau-x. It was fab, definitely recommend!

We also had a cake made by a local cake maker, which was really lovely.

CeibaTree · 08/01/2021 17:30

I’d go with the hawksmoor one, it’s so good there’s no point wasting your time with anything else!
Congratulations on your anniversary, it’s our 10th wedding anniversary this summer too so I’m really hoping we are able to go out and celebrate. But if not we’ll do what you are doing and get a special meal delivered. :)

What?! Loads of companies do exactly this...?
JorisBonson · 08/01/2021 17:31

I've got food from Dirty Bones and cocktail kits from Cahoots being delivered for next weekend, beyond excited.

doadeer · 08/01/2021 17:31

Oh yeah, you can't get cocktails etc delivered even alongside food?

That's fine I can just buy him some nice whisky ☺️

I'll check out suggestions

This was linked on another thread and has some great ideas

You can't have cocktails delivered with food/takeaway- that was part of the new rules- no takeaway alcohol. Our local gastro pub has had to stop.

Physically go in and takeaway, yes. You can still have deliveries. Just put in an order from our local micropub.

Not with food- all the deliveroo restaurants, those delivering themselves and the being pubs have all said no. They are very pissed off.

A micro pub may argue that they are a brewery and serving directly to the customer?

You can't order a meal with cocktails legally from anywhere.

I've ordered a bottle of wine and some beers with a curry delivery in the past week 🤷🏻‍♀️
doadeer · 08/01/2021 17:42

Any other suggestions?

The booze bit isn't important we have a 2 year old so hangovers are a no! 🤣

Yes you can.

The Hawksmoor at home is fab.

startedearlytookmycats · 08/01/2021 18:03

Simon Rogan does amazing fine dining menus delivered to your home anywhere in London, it's pricey but hands down the best 'make away' type meal we've had during lockdown. It was a bit fiddly to do the plating up so depends how much time you want to spend preparing dishes during the meal itself, but a perfect special occasion meal. We've also tried Townsend at the Whitechapel Gallery who deliver and a couple of options from a website called dispatch dishpatch.co.uk/, but Simon Rogan far surpassed all of these to be honest!

startedearlytookmycats · 08/01/2021 18:05

These guys are good for cocktails too www.thecocktaildeliverycompany.co.uk/

OcelotPanda · 08/01/2021 18:08

Hawksmoor at Home really is good, and their new one has macaroni cheese in. Their macaroni cheese is too die for.

These are cook at home meals being discussed, not a take away.
Scbchl · 08/01/2021 18:13

I got a batch of cocktails delivered as a present to a family member from small batch cocktails. She said they were great.

BookShark · 08/01/2021 18:13

Jason Atherton is doing menus for two that you cook at home jasonatherton.co.uk/news/jason-at-home-home-delivery-boxes/. Haven't tried it, but I'm tempted - just need DH to get his taste back post-Covid.

Some other options here as well:. www.bighospitality.co.uk/Article/2020/11/11/New-restaurants-offering-nationwide-meal-kits-delivery-michelin-star-chefs-simon-rogan-jason-atherton-michel-roux-jr
