Special meals & cocktails delivered

It's my 10 year anniversary this month, it's been a very difficult year for us (covid aside and included) so want to do something special at home.

We've agreed we are each going to plan a date night and I want to do something lovely.

Any ideas for special meals I could have delivered? I was looking at Hawksmoor steak meal kit with cocktails but I'd love some other ideas.

I'm going to get one of the Rick Stein boxes later this month. I'm not keen on pre-mixed cocktails but an espresso martini is very easy to make Smile

You can have alcohol delivered, but not collect it - from the guidance “All food and drink (including alcohol) can continue to be provided by delivery.”

WingBingo · 08/01/2021 18:19

Yeah Hawksmoor are still posting alcohol with their meals.

OllyBJolly · 08/01/2021 18:25

We've been regularly treating ourselves to fabulous meals.

Second the Chateau-X. We had that on Hogmanay and it was sumptuous. Think it was the surf and turf that we had.

Nico is doing a different cuisine every month. We had the Thai home-x.com/products/home-by-nico-bangkok-thai-street-food-menu Delicious!

We've also had a couple of meals from Haar haarathome.co.uk/collections/all-of-our-luxury-boxes/products/best-of-land-sea-box-1 All excellent

Fresh lobster from the Oyster Shed www.theoysterman.co.uk/

Looking forward to a Rick Stein delivery next week - shop.rickstein.com/collections/steins-at-home-food-boxes/products/steins-at-home-the-sea-bass-menu

And I love the Funkin Passion Fruit Martini. Comes in a special can that gives it a bit of fizz. www.funkincocktails.co.uk/. But a quick google will give you lots of options

Hope you find something special - Happy Anniversary!

JorisBonson · 08/01/2021 18:27

@OllyBJolly thank you for posting the Oyster Man 🤤

Ihatenicknames · 08/01/2021 18:33

We've had the Smokestak one a couple of times. Awesome food and lovely cocktails. smokestak.co.uk

Clymene · 08/01/2021 18:35

I've had cocktails from here and they're amazing: www.hoxton-grey.co.uk/

badpuma · 08/01/2021 18:40

We've done Stein at home a couple of times which is lovely and not very expensive. NIO (needs ice only) does cocktails by post which are ace!

catinthelap · 08/01/2021 18:49

Another vote for Hawksmoor but if you want something super special I'd recommend &Home by James Knappett. The food was amazing and it was surprisingly easy to follow the instructions

We've ordered from Northcote manor - they have some January boxes. Fantastic.

rosettesforjill · 08/01/2021 19:40

I can recommend Made In Oldstead boxes by Tommy Banks. Extremely easy to make - barely more cooking than an M&S ready meal - and delicious. You can order with a bottle of wine and/or cocktails, I think.

doadeer · 08/01/2021 19:44

Agh I'm so conflicted now!

We are in Scotland and have had a few boxes from Haarathome.co.uk (master chef finalist) they are brilliant and think they deliver everywhere. Had a delivery of langoustine and steak box and pudding which we ate over two nights it was a real treat would absolutely recommend

MotherWol · 08/01/2021 20:10

For cocktails, the Hawksmoor full fat old fashioned is lovely, and we also had some cocktails from here over Christmas and they were gorgeous: myattsfieldscocktails.london/

spagbog5 · 08/01/2021 20:22

We have had dispatch and Cote @ home and enjoyed both .

Grobagsforever · 08/01/2021 23:23

@CraftyGin

You can’t have alcohol delivered.
@CraftyGin

You're incorrect. I had a beer delivered with my takeaway a few hours ago. England

mocktail · 08/01/2021 23:27

You're allowed to have alcohol delivered, just not allowed to so click and collect or buy it in person to takeaway, which were leading to people congregating around pubs.

doadeer · 09/01/2021 08:30

You can have alcohol delivered as it's in the cook at home kit I just ordered.

I went with special x. We've been to hawksmore a few times so this is a change, I'll get that one next!

Thanks for all the tips on this thread everyone - I will be sharing this with DH for my own birthday in early Feb!

Friendsoneuptown · 09/01/2021 11:43

Great thread. Thank you.

Mumstaxifirm · 11/01/2021 04:24

Had our 10 year wedding anniversary the other day. We went for a lovely walk and then when we got home we watched our wedding video with the kids (popcorn and treats) and relaxed to that. We got Cocktails delivered in from The Jolly Trailer and had an Indian delivered. Turned out to be a relaxing lovely day and night

PurpleHoodie · 11/01/2021 04:33

This is my favourite thread of the year so far.

Have a birthday and anniversary coming up so will have a look into these suggestions.

JorisBonson · 11/01/2021 06:31

My Cahoots cocktail kits arrived and they are CUTE. Saving for Friday when we'll attempt an indoor date night.

We had one from Lyle's this weekend - one Michelin star restaurant in shoreditch and it was to die for. They ship nationwide as well.

Whattodowithaminute · 11/01/2021 07:00

There are quite a few doing them now and I’d really recommend. I found the HAME one a bit of a faff, Simon rogan exceptional.
