How do you bath when you are on your period?

My family home had a separate shower unit, and my whole life I used that. I moved out a few years ago and we put a shower unit in because I hate baths.

My shower has broke, and the time has come 🤣

Is there a method? I bleed so heavily there seems no logical way of doing this. (There is no shower attachment in the bath)

Just after any obvious (or not so obvious) advice please!

Bath with a tampon in?

I don't though and it never seems to have been a problem that I can recall.

QuestionableMouse · 07/01/2021 17:38

Like you would at any other time?

If your shower is broken, you might want to take a jug in to wash your hair with water from the tap (no bubbles or other products in it) and you can use it to rinse off too.

You might find your flow slows down in the bath.

I bleed heavy and just bathe as normal. In my 30+ years of menstruating I've never yet bled into the bath (and I'm someone who has to fashion extra sanitary protection out of cloths because my flow is so heavy)

Just have a bath as you would any other time of the month...use a jug to get clean water to rinse hair off

StiffyByng1 · 07/01/2021 17:42

I bathe as normal. Might have the odd bit escaping if I’m very heavy, but it’s no problem.

jojoandgrangran · 07/01/2021 17:45

You don't really bleed in the bath. Something to do with the pressure?

NerrSnerr · 07/01/2021 17:46

Just as normal. I don't bath any differently when on my period.

hopeishere · 07/01/2021 17:58

Yeah. I've very heavy periods but don't bleed in the bath. Helps with the pain too

UpShutTheFuck · 07/01/2021 18:03

Fill bath with water to your preferred depth/temperature.
Get in bath.

RavingAnnie · 07/01/2021 18:06

I get in the bath as normal. If I am heavy I generally wear a tampon, but sometimes not.

Standrewsschool · 07/01/2021 18:06

Never had any problems with baths. The water seemed to ‘pause’ the period. Just carry on as normal.

TillyTopper · 07/01/2021 18:06

Just bath... or if you really think you'll bleed use a tampon.

JustAnotherUserinParadise · 07/01/2021 18:07

I have bled in the bath so just wear a tampon :)
How do you go swimming?

SarahAndQuack · 07/01/2021 18:08

Tampon, because while you may not notice the bleeding when lying down, once you get up you can ruin towels quite fast.

RoganJosh · 07/01/2021 18:09

Dark towel and pad and pants ready for when you get out?

Floralnomad · 07/01/2021 18:09

@UpShutTheFuck

Fill bath with water to your preferred depth/temperature. Get in bath.
This exactly .
Grooticle · 07/01/2021 18:10

I’ve never bled in the bath for some reason, and I have very heavy days. Be prepared to gush when you stand up though.

xHeartinacagex · 07/01/2021 18:10

Tampon.

SendHelp30 · 07/01/2021 18:10

As normal. I just don’t wash my hair in it.

MermaidDreams83 · 07/01/2021 18:11

I bathe during period and don't bleed in the bath 🛀

milkysmum · 07/01/2021 18:12

Put the plug in. Turn the tap. Fill bath. Check temp. Get in.

twistedsistersocks · 07/01/2021 18:14

I put the plug in, run the bath and get in, just like normal. It's never been an issue for me when I did still have periods.

Chloemol · 07/01/2021 18:15

Bath, no issues

oakleaffy · 07/01/2021 18:19

We didn't have a shower for years...It was never a problem. Only had a bath, with a ''Cow milker attachment thing for the taps for rinsing hair.

Only have a shower now, and it's much better though.
You'll be fine.

Scbchl · 07/01/2021 18:21

With a tampon in.
