Orange/bronze or white car?

Hi,

Just that really.

Have finally narrowed down what car we want, but we're buying used and can only seem to get the make and model we want in these two colours.

Never liked white really, although this car has a lot of dark trim to dial it down a bit. Orange/bronze, I always thought was a bit....old man Confused (sorry)

I know it's completely subjective, but still would appreciate your thoughts Smile

I really love the car overall, so don't want to be put off by colour alone!

TIA

White cars are naff.

Mysa74 · 05/01/2021 13:14

I hate white cars, they blend into the background and really show the dirt, so I have anything else...
How bright is the orange/bronze?
I love cars that are easy to spot in a car park Grin

Skippii · 05/01/2021 13:14

It depends on the make/model, and the tone of the orange

BarbaraofSeville · 05/01/2021 13:22

This.

Certain cars look better in certain colours. Plus, a bright funky orange is a very different prospect to other shades of bronze which might look a lot more 'old man'.

White is also very subjective and for a long time was considered very inappropriate for larger cars, which popular opinion stated they should have been silver or black (or somewhere in between).

Now you see a lot of large, white cars, but these appear to be, rightly or wrongly, a bit drug dealerish.

Orange

White cars are a nightmares to keep clean and bright

BarbaraofSeville · 05/01/2021 13:24

The other thing to consider is that orangey/bronze might be a bit marmite, which could hinder resale, if this might be a factor for you.

Although if you are the type of person who doesn't care what their car looks like and you plan to keep it a long time, that might not be an issue, especially if the orange one is cheaper to start with.

Chewbecca · 05/01/2021 13:25

White! (But does depend on the car so please tell us)

murbblurb · 05/01/2021 13:59

the orange/bronze look horrible but they are good and conspicuous which is all that matters.

I drove an old brown car for a while. All lights on when needed - might as well have been invisible. Next one was silver and suddenly I lost the invisibility cloak!

safariboot · 05/01/2021 14:03

Don't care, judge on other factors.

I prefer an uncommon colour, easier for people I'm giving a lift to recognise. But it's a minor factor, if the car I wanted was grey I'd still buy it.

Thanks all.

It's a Peugeot 3008

Definately orange, especially on a sunny day Grin

Purplethrow · 05/01/2021 15:17

I had a bright orange car, fantastic for finding in car parks !

spiderlight · 05/01/2021 15:19

We have a hideous, hideous orange Skoda. It was an emergency purchase and our DS cried when he saw it, but we are extremely visible on the road and we never lose the car in big car-parks!

NastyBlouse · 05/01/2021 15:22

My choice would be bronze. It suits that car IMO, and metallics tend to hold their value better.

AlwaysLatte · 05/01/2021 15:44

I had an orangey bronze car once, I hated it and it stuck out like a sore thumb outside our house!

ErrolTheDragon · 05/01/2021 15:51

I think I'd rather walk....

That's the sort of car which in white, especially if it's got dark windows, has the aesthetics of a stormtrooper's helmet.

The bronze doesn't look too orangey so not too awful.

Babyyodasmacarons · 05/01/2021 15:53

I personally love white cars, I always think newer models with the bluey white LED headlights look really futuristic.

But.... I really love brown shades for cars, think it looks really retro.

Just realised my post is contradictory and not helpful at all but I guess I like really modern or really retro nothing meh in between ConfusedBlush

Not as much as a black car. Bought one to hide the dirt it looks worse!

SixStringFanjo · 05/01/2021 15:57

90% of cars in UK are either black, white or silver/grey. I'd go for any other colour just for a bit of character.

VenusClapTrap · 05/01/2021 16:25

Anything but white.

Soutiner · 05/01/2021 18:03

Definitely NOT the white.

StillMedusa · 05/01/2021 19:12

I've had cars in pretty much every colour now... my current one is white Grin and so is DH's (just changing now from a peugeot..the pug has been a brilliant car btw, totally recommend them!)

I like white but boy does it show the dirt!!

LtJudyHopps · 05/01/2021 19:39

I hate funky coloured cars, but I actually don’t mind the orange that just came up on google for the Peugeot 3008! Better than the white.

Chewbecca · 05/01/2021 20:26

Ok, for that car, I prefer the orange.

randomsabreuse · 05/01/2021 20:31

Not white unless you like washing cars often (we don't). Had one in the past, it went cream from the constant mud with his job. DH's work has paid the extra £££ for a not white van (rural job)
