Orange/bronze or white car?

PringlesForBreakfast · 05/01/2021 13:01

Hi,

Just that really.

Have finally narrowed down what car we want, but we're buying used and can only seem to get the make and model we want in these two colours.

Never liked white really, although this car has a lot of dark trim to dial it down a bit. Orange/bronze, I always thought was a bit....old man Confused (sorry)

I know it's completely subjective, but still would appreciate your thoughts Smile

I really love the car overall, so don't want to be put off by colour alone!

TIA

Get it in either colour then get it wrapped in the colour you want. Not only do you get the exact shade you want but you'll protect your paintwork as well.

adawong · 05/01/2021 20:36

That other pic is a 308. This is a 3008, not a great colour but it's a pig ugly car anyway.

Orange/bronze or white car?
Tavannach · 05/01/2021 20:49

Orange/bronze definitely.

PringlesForBreakfast · 05/01/2021 21:16

@LadyFlumpalot, I was thinking this actually, but isn't it really expensive?

@adawong, well obviously I disagree 👍

I have a ‘Monarch Orange” Nissan Kicks and love the colour.

Melange99 · 05/01/2021 22:10

Orange for sure.

However, I heard the results of a survey on the radio a while ago counting down which cars were the hardest to sell on. Orange was no 1 for being difficult to sell. Wouldn't put me off though.

aesher · 05/01/2021 22:42

Forget the colour!! Why would you buy a pergeot

PringlesForBreakfast · 06/01/2021 09:02

@aesher, erm, what do you have against Peugeot? Confused The 3008 is really good car and has very good reviews.

@spiderlight

We have a hideous, hideous orange Skoda. It was an emergency purchase and our DS cried when he saw it, but we are extremely visible on the road and we never lose the car in big car-parks!
This gave me a giggle!
EssentiallyDelighted · 06/01/2021 09:26

I'd go for the orange, I had years of driving round in white, silver or grey cars (hard to spot in car parks, invisible in even slightly drizzly or misty weather) and would always go for an actual colour now.

LadyFlumpalot · 06/01/2021 10:22

@PringlesForBreakfast - it varies. I'm getting mine wrapped when lockdown and Tiers allow and I've been quoted £2400. But I'm going to the best of the best for the work and I've picked an expensive wrap.

If you're feeling brave and don't mind waving scalpels around near your cars paintwork there are even DIY kits (would never do this in a million years GrinConfused)

EssentiallyDelighted · 06/01/2021 11:10

I can't get a screen protector on a phone without bubbles, wouldn't fancy my chances with wrapping a car!

toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 · 06/01/2021 11:17

I agree the 3008 is a fantastic car, and motor industry experts agree. I am a motor trader. In fact I have just driven one of these this morning. Lovely car to drive and I think it looks great, I would probably go for orange. I think white may go out of fashion soon.

One thing I would say, have you actually driven one? I find the visibility over the bonnet and out of the rear windscreen are pretty bad. The windows are quite high up so you can't see very well to manoeuvre or park. However, this wouldn't be an issue if you have a 360 camera (the camera on the 3008 is fantastic in my opinion) and sensors front and back. Also, if it's an option (I'm no expert on this make) I would go for a front heated screen. It's a big windscreen and this morning took a while for me to get it cleared to go out.

Hope that helps, and just to clarify, these are just my opinions.

darksideofthemooncup · 06/01/2021 11:39

Having worked in car sales I would say white if you plan to resell it.

CormoranStrike · 06/01/2021 11:40

I love a funky orange car

CormoranStrike · 06/01/2021 11:41

Oh, and I hired a 3008 at one pint and loved it.

SedentaryCat · 06/01/2021 11:44

I have a white car and, yes, it's a bugger to keep clean but the only other option was what was referred to by the dealer as 'doom blue' (it was a bit of a gloomy colour TBH!).

For the 3008 I think I'd go for the orange - not a bad colour and seems to suit the car better IMO. I had a pug 206 for years - from new until it became uneconomical to get through the MOT - and it has been one of the more reliable cars I've owned. Only ongoing problem was with one rear light cluster where the bulb would blow every couple of months (electrics are a known issue).

marriednotdead · 06/01/2021 11:56

As soon as you mentioned the colours, I knew what you were looking at because I have been doing the same! Definitely not the white for all the reasons other posters have stated.

Shortly after I met DP he had a run of bad luck and managed to buy and write off 2 dark coloured cars in just 6 weeks.
When he replaced it, he came to pick me up from somewhere and told me to guess which car when we got back to the car park. A lime green monstrosity awaited me Grin

TheNemesisOfLame · 06/01/2021 11:59

Orange. I've had silver cars for the last 10 years along with the rest of the country. Now desperate for colour!

Iwantmychairback · 06/01/2021 12:02

I had a white car. Hard to keep clean.
Car colours are fashionable believe it or not. When I came to px my white car, I was told that I should have done it 12 months earlier when everyone was looking to buy white cars. They had gone out of fashion again when I was ready to sell mine.
Of this two colours, I’d go for the orange.

PringlesForBreakfast · 06/01/2021 14:32

Haha @ladyflumpalot Grin I am 99% certain I would make a complete hash of that! I think I'd leave it to the experts.

@toomanydicksonthedancefloor1, ooo a professional! I have a question, if that's ok - Is there a big difference between the GT and Allure? I can find the colour I want in the Allure and the only differences I can see if lack of chrome trim and slightly less edgy looking headlights.

@marriednotdead, really?! Grin Which colour were you originally after? And wow. Lime green is quite a statement 😬

PringlesForBreakfast · 06/01/2021 17:56

Hmm they now have it in black, but not sure about that one either tbh 🤔 It looks so much more classy in grey.

Black can look a bit meh, can't it?

@PringlesForBreakfast
I'm currently hunting for a budget replacement for my ancient Megane so it will be a case of affordability, hopefully I can find something not too hideous but price/running costs and ULEZ compliance have to be my deciders.
The green monster has now been replaced with a dark blue one, much to his DCs relief Grin
