Best ground coffee

Can any one recommend a good, but not too pricey, ground coffee that can go in a cafetiere please.

I usually buy one in Aldi but am avoiding shops. So something preferably available on Amazon or similar.

I like a strong cup, I buy level 4 or 5 dowue egberts instant. I just want something slightly nicer as a 'lockdown treat'

Have a look at the Henry Higgins website.

I like Brazilian Bourbon (it's very smooth) but your tastes might not be mine. 🙂

And you'll be given 10% off all your following orders as a returning customer.

You can get Lavazza on amazon - I like it.

www.whittard.co.uk is like a treasure chest of good coffee.

Tesco Finest are good too if you’re doing an online order.

We drink lavazza Oro which is lovely ☺️

We ususally buy from a local deli, who roast and blend their own, but DS recommends Taylors of Harrogate Lazy Sunday.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 04/01/2021 22:48

Thanks everyone. I'll have a look and maybe try a few (not all at the same time).
I was bought up drinking instant (Nescafe) and only recently realised how much nicer cafetiere coffee is Grin

We get ours from Atkinson's, they have lots of lovely coffees (and also teas) available as whole bean or half a dozen grind types - we mostly get Prototype.

(We know we like it so we buy by the kilo which is a bit cheaper)

Oh, I forgot to add a link for Henry higgins.

If you like a strong coffee then you could try Skull Crusher.

I quite fancy a ‘death by decaf’ mug. Grin

Lavazza Crema, although not sure if it comes ground, we have a bean to cup machine.

Do you have a roasters local to you that delivers? Google it.
My local roasters make the most delicious coffee and it’s barely more expensive than buying it from the supermarket. And you would be supporting a local business.

I have no idea. I'll have to Google and see. I hadn't even considered that tbh so thank you. :)

The one I linked to is my local (ish) roaster.

We like the Machu Pichu range, but surprisingly the Sainsbury omniground own brand of code is really nice too. Our window cleaner asked where we got it as it's his favourite now!

Taylor’s Lazy Sunday is our favourite

spongedog · 05/01/2021 00:20

i like taylors italian (grade 4) - ground- works well in a cafetiere and a filter machine. I ordered a posh coffee for me for Xmas and it has been ground too finely. Really annoyed as it was a lot more than the taylors, and is a bit bland as well.

MaizeBlouse · 05/01/2021 14:55

My DP works in an independent coffee roastery sp we have coffee for every occasion ha but yes deffo have a look if there's an indie place near you. You can request that they grind it for the way you brew coffee I.e cafetiere, areopress, stove top etc

Anordinarymum · 05/01/2021 14:57

I am currently enjoying illy Espresso ground coffee. It's bloody good. Lavazzo is also a fave.
