Best ground coffee

Can any one recommend a good, but not too pricey, ground coffee that can go in a cafetiere please.

I usually buy one in Aldi but am avoiding shops. So something preferably available on Amazon or similar.

I like a strong cup, I buy level 4 or 5 dowue egberts instant. I just want something slightly nicer as a 'lockdown treat'

Cafedirect Machu Pichu or a Grumpy Mule coffee are nice. Some supermarkets stock better brands. E.g. Booths may have Revelation which is nice but pricey.

I’ve had several bags off this company and they’ve all been good.

I also love Taylor’s Lazy Sunday

Taylor’s Decaff. Love it.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I've got a list to work though Grin
I've ordered some from Marley Coffee after a friend recommended it. I usually shop with Morrisons, but haven't got a shop due for a couple of weeks but I'll be seeing what they have in future. :)

I'll be taking a look at recommendations, too.

I drink decaff and I like a grind suitable for my aeropress, but what's available on supermarkets shelves is pretty poor. I did manage to get some Lavazza decaff, which is nice. I'm the only one that drinks coffee in our house, and not so often so I like to get a decent one as a treat.

I bought my aeropress from Redber Coffee during lockdown 1, as it came with a decent sample of decaff (same price aeropress as other places but with added sample, a nice bargain), and I'm looking around for other decaff to try.

I'd love a bean to cup machine, but I don't feel I can justify the purchase right now, as the only coffee drinker, and not everyday.

I buy from a local place in Glasgow - Gordon Street Coffee. They ship too.

I bought my dad a bag of their ground decaf for his birthday last year and it was such a hit I got more for his Christmas Grin

Just made my first cup of it. Its slightly bitter on the first sip, but has a lovely almost woody aftertaste.

We like Cafe Direct Intense (5) for a supermarket coffee. We get “the good stuff” ground to order at a local deli (Grain and Grind, Glasgow). They post free nationwide for orders over £25. We just ordered 1kg (4 bags) for £25 and that will last us a while. I’m sure there will be similar local to you.

Atkinson's decafs are good - we usually get the Columbian I think. As with their other coffees, lots of different grind options - though imo it's worth getting a grinder and whole beans.

I would definitely say that Naked Roaster Coffee is the best coffee I've ever had. They have lots of different types and flavours nakedroaster.com

Another vote for Taylor’s Lazy Sunday. Full-flavoured with no bitterness.

I buy all my beans from coffee direct website. Lots of different beans for every strength, flavour etc. Super quick delivery as well

Cafe Direct Machu Picchu ready ground coffee is what I have every morning (cafetiere). Excellent, and Fair Trade. Strong, full flavour.

welcometo2021 · 11/04/2021 15:36

@Enidblyton1

Do you have a roasters local to you that delivers? Google it. My local roasters make the most delicious coffee and it’s barely more expensive than buying it from the supermarket. And you would be supporting a local business.
Yep, this is what I do. I buy whole beans as have a bean to cup machine but the beans from my local roastery are amazing. Superb quality, good range without being overwhelming, all ethically sourced small batch coffees freshly roasted for the best flavour. Cant beat it.
PickAChew · 11/04/2021 15:43

Pret have some of theirs on amazon. It's not bad.

I've ended up with a lot of waitrose Ethiopian sidamo, though. It's pretty delicious.

actiongirl1978 · 11/04/2021 15:44

Pact. Awesome coffee.

I drink the decaf, DH drinks full fat.

Frownette · 11/04/2021 16:43

Morrison's french ground coffee is lovely, they used to do a 2 for £5 offer
