Can anyone give me some ideas for tea, I’m sick of eating the same things week in and week out

Off the top of my head this week we're having:

chilli con carne and nachos
fishcakes and salad
bacon and chicken pasta bake
spanish omelette and salad

What are you eating now?

Daal is a favourite here.
I’ve done a lot of Wagamama wok from home through lockdown. They’ve got lots of great ideas there. Once you’ve done them a couple of times they can be very quick.

This is a really good idea. We’ve had hello fresh occasionally and recreated the recipes.

I've got a craving for pan fried white fish with rice and pickles this evening!

If you eat chicken you can coat it in harissa paste, then natural yoghurt, leave to marinate then roast.

Lentil curry with dessicated coconut

ElizaLaLa · 04/01/2021 11:22

Chicken pot pie, can vary it by putting it in filo parcels.m, or with different lids, filo or pastry or yoghurt dough.

Tomato soup ( saute onion, 2 red peppers, stick of celery. Add can of toms and veg/chicken stock. Blend when cooked) with flatbread

Lentil dhal and chapattis/roti/flatbread.

Chicken with orange ( chick thighs, onions, garlic, red pepper, sundried toms, can of toms, black olives , chick stock, juice of one orange). Serve with baguette or other crusty bread to mop up sauce.

Frownette · 04/01/2021 11:32

Chickpea, spinach and lemon casserole is really nice and easy.

BaronessVonCake · 04/01/2021 11:33

I always recommend Fay Ripley's Fay's Family Food - I must have made every recipe in there and the kids have eaten them all! The chicken pie and tandoori chicken are their favourites.

Also the Rukmini Iyer Roasting Tin recipes are great as you just hung everything in a tin so there's minimum prep and washing up!

I think you can Google some of the recipes online to see if it's your thing?

Xiaoxiong · 04/01/2021 11:38

Successful weeknight meals recently:

Traybake of honey mustard chicken thighs, sprouts and potatoes
Traybake of chicken thighs, chorizo, potatoes
One-pot meal of chicken thighs cooked over cardamom rice pilaf
Sausage and red cabbage alongside polenta triangles and a green salad
Chicken schnitzel and a green salad
Skillet of kale, red onion, sausages with fennel seed, eaten with garlic bread
Roast cauliflower with tahini sauce, meatballs, tabbouleh
Leftover turkey/pepper/onion fajitas

Your menu's quite meat-heavy, maybe chuck in some veggie meals to switch things up? This week we're having:

  • Baked sweet potato, cheesy refried beans, avocado salad
  • Coconut aubergine and peanut curry
  • Jacket spuds stuffed with mushroom and spinach, baked beans
  • Veggie sausage casserole
  • Fish cakes with minted peas or salad

I usually double up for leftovers/freezer meals. Bit carb-heavy this week but it's January and we're hibernating!

NotSoJollyChristmas · 04/01/2021 11:53

My partner won’t eat vegetables lol

Something which is really nice is roasted shrimp and broccoli, I found it on a blog called the Wednesday chef. She has some really good recipes.

@AtLeastThreeDrinks I like the sound of your aubergine curry.

I love ratatouille as well, it goes so silky after it's been cooked for ages

Is he a toddler?

So basically, the reason you've run out of inspiration for meals is because you've landed yourself with a man who has the palate of a 3 year old?

NotSoJollyChristmas · 04/01/2021 11:57

@RaspberryCoulis bit harsh?

Plus we do have vegetables with our food he just doesn’t eat them and I have a fussy 18 month old (she will eat veg tho)

We waffle on a bit but if you just scroll through looking for hyperlinks there's quite a few.

steppemum · 04/01/2021 12:18

Oh there a was thread like this a whiel ago and I got a few fab recipes that I now use

tagliatelle with salmon.
(cook taglitelle, in a bowl mix creme fraiche, tins of salmon or crab, or prawns, chilli flakes, lemon juice, olive oil. Stir into cooked taglietelle)

chicken pasta bake with pesto. - pesto, chicken, cream/sour cream/creme fraiche, can make it into a bake with brocolli and pasta

risotto - chorizo, chicken, mushroom, then near the end add cherry tomatoes and green beans.

steppemum · 04/01/2021 12:19

Purple Daisies,
Can you share your dahl recipe?
Thanks
