How much Christmas food do you have left?

I've got a roasted turkey breast in the freezer. Half a packet of pate and half a brie. Frozen sausage rolls. A box of Guylian chocs, a box of Heroes and Lindt truffles. Two mince pies and 4 Tescos yule log bites. One piece of christmas pud and a splash of brandy sauce. A smoked cheese and salami platter. A jar of cranberry sauce. A pack of cashew nuts that need roasting. Countless crackers. DP went home today (support bubble) with six plastic pots of cheese and leftovers, plus a whole Christmas pud that feeds 8.
I'm so ready for salad. Anyone else still bursting at the seams with Christmas fare?

4 Christmas Puddings.
I bought one. exH brought one with him (support bubble)
He arranged for our two ASD kids to 'give me one each for Xmas'.
I'm on a medically supported diet.
(I bought one smallish family one for the kids to share)

4 portions of leftovers 'xmas dinner' in the freezer for a rainy Sunday.

Our Food Bank is full of donations of excess Christmas food - mince pies, cakes, chocolates etc Grin - all unopened of course. Even some bottles of Mulled Wine ... we don't accept alcohol so I gave them back to the supermarket where the donation box was, hopefully they can give them to staff.

We have lots of cheese left, that's not a problem as we eat a lot of cheese, my DM bought be a massive 'reduced' cheese cake tower thing yesterday - wonderful but so much cheese !

Tumbleweed101 · 04/01/2021 10:32

All the christmas dinner food! Frozen Turkey, pigs in blankets etc. We had covid so no visitors xmas day, therefore we have had loads of buffet type foods to get through as they would go off.

A tin of chocolates
A box of chocolate mints and one of Brazil nut chocs
Two other boxes of chocolates
Pannetone
Mince pies
Two sausage rolls
A tin of biscuits
Shortbread

Most were gifts.

spagbog5 · 04/01/2021 10:33

We have absolutely loads left as we were gifted two lovely hampers and a huge cheese hamper then all 5 of us went down with covid and are still barely eating.
We have eaten light meals but the freezer is bulging and the food bank is due a huge drop of chocolates etc when I'm well enough to sort it and take it all.
We have been ill for nearly three weeks and dh and I are still struggling .

Fifthtimelucky · 04/01/2021 10:38

It was very late in the day when we decided that there would only be 4 of us for Christmas and I had already bought a lot of stuff, so I have quite a lot left:

A small amount of Christmas cake, which should be gone by the end of the day,
2 or 3 servings of Christmas pudding,
One packet of 6 mince pies,
Enough brandy butter to eat with the above,
Half a Yule Log (will have gone by the end of the day)
Enough cream to accompany the log,
2 large stollens
I pack of Stollen bites
I pack of Lebkuchen
I large box of shortbread
Lots of boxes of chocolates, including a couple of unopened ones which I will hide away until Easter.

I'm doing much better on the savoury front as there is nothing left now except for some turkey and ham in the freezer, which will stay there for a while and get gradually used up over the next couple of months.

Yukay · 04/01/2021 10:42

Just some apple sauce and cranberry sauce that got put in thr freezer for future pancakes. Everything else got finished off on boxing day.

LaVitaPuoEsserePiuBella · 04/01/2021 10:42

I don't understand why people buy so much. Leftover mince pies and a bit of Xmas cake have been given to the birds 😁

HeronLanyon · 04/01/2021 10:55

I’m supposing quite a few were expecting guests who didn’t arrive for Covid related tier related reasons.
Additionally many of us will have given food presents due to reduced shipping and then increased tier 4 areas.
I got chocolate from neighbours and a sibling and each time wished I hadn’t. I also gave some chocolate things and panettones and other food things when normally wouldn’t have.
Considering holding my choc stash for barter purposes when yet more shit hits the fan . . . 😂

PurpleDaisies · 04/01/2021 10:57

Half a bag of frozen mini veggie sausage rolls. Half a large red cabbage. Half a jar of mincemeat. A tin of roses and a tin of heroes we got as presents.

A lot of booze!

Coffeeislife04 · 04/01/2021 11:10

Cheese and crackers stollen match makers nuts and shortbread for the people saying they don't understand why people buy so much in our case its usually gifted on top of the Christmas food shop hence why its still here.

AlternativePerspective · 04/01/2021 11:25

Nothing. In fact DS went into the fridge the other day and exclaimed that it looked as if we had a food shortage 😂.

We do have some cheese, cheddar, truffle cheddar, Red Leicester etc and some crackers left but I buy cheese all year round anyway as we often just have bread and cheese for lunch/tea/ a snack with crackers. I don’t eat chocolate or biscuits so savoury is better.

WhatACrockOfShit · 04/01/2021 11:32

Nothing, it's all gone

Peridot1 · 04/01/2021 11:37

I definitely bought more this year as figured there was nothing else to do so we may as well have nice food. And lots of it!

I did go a bit overboard on cheese. Kind of forgot we wouldn’t have guests and an evening of sitting around the table with a big cheese board and nice biscuits. But it will all be eaten.

Weepingwillows12 · 04/01/2021 11:44

Loads of christmas chocolate and a christmas pudding. Eating last of the turkey today. We made a ham and turkey pie filling on boxing day and froze it then had a few days off turkey and aiming to make up the pie later. Got some frozen party food in the freezer but that will last a while.

Didnt do too badly on food waste this year but we scaled everything down a bit.

honeylulu · 04/01/2021 12:33

About a third of a tin of celebrations and same for quality street (more than usual as school closed early so we ended up opening the chocs intended for after school club etc!)

A handful of jelly beans and half a pack of Bombay mix.

Pack of shortbread (forgot I had bought it).

Half pack of pringles x 2 flavours (only because kids haven't found them yet).

Small pot brandy butter (will it freeze does anyone know)?

Got the main stuff about right this year so leftovers got used within a week. Other years have had far too much

honeylulu · 04/01/2021 12:34

Oh and 3 or 4 mini cheeses. This was a better decision (mini individually wrapped selection) than several big blocks!

user1471538283 · 04/01/2021 12:37

Lots of chocolates, a frozen small Turkey crown and a frozen gammon, some cheese and crackers. But it's being arsed to cook so as I'm on leave after working all Christmas we are having Pizza Express for lunch!

Tier4muffintop · 04/01/2021 12:38

Cheese, biscuits and pickles
Naice crisps
Mince pies
Christmas pud
Selection boxes
Fancy chocolate
A small bit of stolen
More booze than I started with
Xmas Grin

Thecherryontheverytop · 04/01/2021 12:39

A bit of cheese and some selection box chocs...thats it nothing else left.

FourTeaFallOut · 04/01/2021 12:40

Two thirds of a Christmas cake I made, which isn't very nice Blush

CaptainMyCaptain · 04/01/2021 12:41

Nothing apart from two mince pies from a reduced box DH bought after New Year. We only buy what we need. I don't buy chocolates and haven't needed any party food this year.

HeronLanyon · 04/01/2021 12:41

Is it good enough for a boozy bread pudding type thing ? Booze in case taste masking is required Grin

FourTeaFallOut · 04/01/2021 12:44

It's too disappointing to think about - I'm not sure it's fit for the birds. I'm just keeping it around because it looks pretty.

Wellthisismorethanabitgrim · 04/01/2021 12:44

Just had prawn cocktail for lunch to use it up, this week's menu will contain a lot of pates and cheeses! I'll make macaroni /cauliflower cheese later in the week to use some of the cheese up, have already made all the leftover veg and herbs into soups which are in the freezer. Christmas pudding and vanilla liqueur cream one night will be eaten this week, no idea why I buy one as we never ever eat it on the day!

We have some biscuits, chocolates, snacks etc left over but they don't need to be eaten quickly so they will just be used as and when. We do have a lot of lovely booze left over, so dry January is unlikely in this house!!
