Another thread in the saga filled up (so no forwards link)

I think maybe we're endurance athletes, or maybe multievent like a decathlon Grin

FFS. The evening just keeps on giving. This will identify me if any of you lovelies know me ( but frankly I don’t care) DH just turned up on the doorstep, having done a mercy dash for indigestion meds for DD, pouring blood from his head having come off his bike not wearing a helmet.

He has been dispatched to A&E with a kindly neighbour. Sigh. I’m not sure whether I’m really angry that he wasn’t wearing a helmet, really angry with Johnson and his idiotic leadership or just generally pissed off already with 2021. It might of course be all three. I am dreading home schooling. DS managed ok today but nearly lost it this evening. It’s going to be exhausting.

AaahWoof · 04/01/2021 21:22

I wish I was dead.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 04/01/2021 21:26

@ShoeJunkie

I’m so 😡- why go on tv on Sunday and tell everyone that schools are safe and should stay open knowing full well that there going to be shut within days. The shutting I can cope with (just) but why lie?
It's what he does. He lies in the way most of us breathes. I don't think he would recognise the truth if you turned it into a cartoon sledgehammer and beat him into the ground with it. Those who voted for him knew that and deserved everything we're all getting.
Weedsnseeds1 · 04/01/2021 21:26

AaahWoof solidarity.

TheOrchidKiller · 04/01/2021 21:26

I was going to type a long post but basically FlowersFlowersFlowers for everyone.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 04/01/2021 21:26

Damn, breathes should be breathe, of course - too angry to check for typos.

Aztectrousers · 04/01/2021 21:30

Fucking hell. I don’t even know what it means. Tier 4 here anyway so the only difference is the schools shutting? Pardon me but haven’t schools been closed for 2 weeks anyway and what difference has that made? My kids are adults now but I really feel for those of you with school age kids. I just could not have coped.

This and the bloody vaccine debacle is just the icing on the cake.

DrDiva · 04/01/2021 21:31

So non essential shops like clothing remain closed. While essential shops such as wine retailers may open.

Then I shall run naked down the street waving my can of cider. Clothes are non-essential after all.

I’m so angry and desperate I have started getting flippant. Those who know me know it’s a really bad sign.

Hawkins001 · 04/01/2021 21:31

isaysteadyon usually I name them by creature type eg elephant, sprollings, elf's, dwarfs, rogues, ect my favourite card is hydras growth, as when you build the counters up , then us a eg creature x 1/1 tokes based ion the creatures strength and power that can make eg 20 1/1 tokens ect

TheOrchidKiller · 04/01/2021 21:32

@Seriouslymole
I think your DH's accident & the stress it's caused you should let you off all homeschooling tomorrow. Hope he's ok. (Mine has had numerous cycling accidents, sometimes disabling himself at inopportune moments. They are stupid sometimes).

Iheartmysmart · 04/01/2021 21:33

FlowersWine from me as well. So sorry for all of you who have children and are going to find the next few weeks an absolute nightmare.

If Boris et al fuck up the vaccine programme then I think there will be massive civil unrest. I’ll be there with my placard!

Mrsfrumble · 04/01/2021 21:36

I really want to ask (but don’t want to venture out into the flaming trash pit that is the rest of MN tonight) if this means the school curriculum will be paused again. If they’re going to be closed to most children for at least half a term - probably more - then surely they must.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 04/01/2021 21:38

@Seriouslymole I hope your DH isn't too badly injured and recovers well.
So many of us are down tonight, with good reason to be as well, so sending solidarity to all of you.

wanderings · 04/01/2021 21:38

We need civil unrest NOW. Perhaps parents will start demonstrating with their children; that would be much safer than the children being in school.

Are we going to see more coroners speaking out about suicides?

DS has a whole school day scheduled in sat at the computer - which is generally a good thing I think but feel we could all do with a bit of a recoup!

TabbyStar · 04/01/2021 21:40

Aaahwoof and everyone else struggling Thanks

I home educated DD for a while, many home educators do very little that could be described as the curriculum but many HE kids are ahead when they do go to school. Google unschooling.

DD (17) and I have decided to go on a healthy eating thing. She has absolutely nothing structured to do at all, and has no idea when she'll see her BF again, but she's making a plan to do something nice for herself every day.

I seem to seesaw between feeling positive and planning to do things (work-wise, am v worried about my finances) and then feeling overwhelmed and not able to do anything at all other than scrolling.

I did a big rant about this on the previous thread. If you can organise it, great.

Those of us who were not supported last time are unlikely to try again.

Sonicthehedgehogg · 04/01/2021 21:44

BrewWineThanksCakeGinfor everyone that needs it this evening.

@AaahWoof Extra Thanks for you, I remember how hard the first time was for you. Don't give up now, the NHS needs feisty bitches like us in it Wink

MissEWeatherwax · 04/01/2021 21:46

Flowers to everyone. I’m still going into the office. I don’t care, I feel safe. Unless someone can magic up a extra room, I’m going in. Plus the drive to and from work is some alone timeBlush

I could do a VERY lengthy response to this but IME coroners' understanding of the causes of suicide are simplistic at best. And at any rate, they won't be recording any in real time as it takes a while for court to meet etc.

Thank you. I’m hoping it’s just a “glue and go”. And apologies to all for the stupid twat not wearing a helmet and wasting NHS time.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 04/01/2021 21:47

Flowers @AaahWoof. It's really hard. We're here.

Nope the resident broomstick brigade are already gearing up the parent blaming for not enforcing and supporting home learning, not making sure their children have a laptop each and work space within the home (fuck I'll just whack up a quick extension overnight or shove one child back up into my uterus). It's a cesspit out there.

And now I have the fuckers on my FB who were dramatically terrified and praying the schools would close - swearing about Boris and PMing me reminding me that their kids and my kids "will be wanting to have daily chats won't they"

I'll get banned from here anyway cos I pointed out that the home learning from some schools last time was fucking shite and the behaviour of the teachers with the flower bombing was fucking disgraceful.

TabbyStar · 04/01/2021 21:52

I had a similar accident Mole, a lot of blood and I was picked up by an ambulance (a car turned left across me so I hit it) but it was just a graze and they sent me away to walk / bus home through London with my jacket covered in blood on a Monday mid-morning (I was on my way to work). I do have a small bald patch though.

Jourdain11 · 04/01/2021 21:53

Am I having an English fail... what is flower bombing?
