So much grey! I’m surprised the grass isn’t grey (Rightmove)

(Not judging the house in any way, just the amount of grey)

It’s grim, dull and yes I’d be ripping most of it out.
I’d be more distressed at having the cladding next door. You would have to look at that every time you came home.

Grasses · 02/01/2021 18:14

You can get grey grass. I’m disappointed by their lack of commitment.

@theverygrumpysanta

I mean the colours scheme is fine... BUT why has no one commented on how close the toilet is to the sink!? Also, how do you get into the bath? It looks like it has glass along half the side before the toilet...do you have to climb over the toilet to get into the bath?
The shower screen moves, you just push it over the bath, get in then swing it back.
ShowOfHands · 02/01/2021 18:21

This fashion for grey is so peculiar. Its such a cold colour. I've been shopping for a bed for a couple of weeks and there are thousands of grey options. At least the house can be painted.

bellagogosdead · 02/01/2021 18:22

It would be just my luck to be in that bath when a small child needed a poo!

Manteo · 02/01/2021 18:28

Mrs Hinch has a lot to answer for!

Indecisivelurcher · 02/01/2021 18:31

Is this a useful place to ask whether I should get grey carpets or more of a brown? I don't really like the whole grey, but as its a more modern neutral so should I get on board.

InFiveMins · 02/01/2021 18:35

I think it looks fine. For that price I wouldn't care how its decorated to be honest.

Thewiseoneincognito · 02/01/2021 18:40

My kitchen cost almost as much as that house 👀😐

That aside, it needs gutting I expect it was a quick flip with B&M tiles etc, cosmetic coverups masking a need for real work.

FlamedToACrisp · 02/01/2021 18:41

I must admit if I was trying to sell that house, I'd have sanded the rusty metal handrail across the front and painted it black. Even if it belonged to the council!

aeiouaeiouaeiou · 02/01/2021 18:46

@SaturdayAfternoon the first thing that struck me about the bathroom is how to get in the bath/shower, I hope the shower screen moves or else you'd have to climb on the toilet Wink

1forAll74 · 02/01/2021 18:48

Yes, far too much grey. But I hate any grey paint. Someone gave me a grey kitchen mat once, but I had some gold coloured spray paint in my shed, so sprayed the mat with it, it was quite nice after.

Ilkeston is an old fashioned town, and not everyone's cup of tea, it's quite a working class area, but people are down to earth and friendly, and Derbyshire is a nice county to live in.

Not that it's got anything to do with grey ha ha, but William Roache (Ken Barlow),, and Robert Lindsay the actor were from Ilkeston.

Nunoftheother · 02/01/2021 18:54

@MatildaonaWaltzer

the half fitted kitchen with the awkward sized gaps just left open instead of cutting the units to size makes me sad. Suggests the entire thing has been an almighty bodge on a budget
Yes, I thought this.

Reminds me of my aunt's plans to paint her kitchen fuchsia pink immediately before putting it on the market. Hmm

Chumleymouse · 02/01/2021 18:55

I work in Ilkeston with lots of the inbred locals and it’s a shithole , it’s full of knuckle dragers who just hit each other with old bones 🦴

TheUplift · 02/01/2021 18:56

Howling at the trip advisor reviews brilliant 😂

Not a fan at all of the grey wood-effect flooring and think it will date really quickly.

MadameMiggeldy · 02/01/2021 18:59

Ilkeston is not bad at all. Commutable to lots of central towns and cities. Miles better than Mansfield (apologies to residents of Mansfield)

Chumleymouse · 02/01/2021 19:02

The best thing about Ilkeston is the scala cinema it’s a proper old skool picture house, its not as high tech as the modern olds but I love going there.

Charlottejbt · 02/01/2021 19:02

It's a lot of money for a grim looking rabbit hutch.

TheMandalorian · 02/01/2021 19:03

I've tried to look at houses on rightmove which were grey everything paired with lots of mirrored furniture and crushed grey velvet. Then also, coloured LEDs everywhere. It was like trying to look at one of those magic eye pictures.

Chumleymouse · 02/01/2021 19:04

Right next to that house ( just out of view ) is a busy island ( ring road )

80sColourfulChristmas · 02/01/2021 19:05

Christ. You can't even buy a Garage for £110k here. Or a Caravan and that's actually a fact, no exaggeration!

museumum · 02/01/2021 19:07

I like grey as a background colour. Always have. Add colours in furniture, rugs, art.
Maybe a feature wall here and there in another colour or wallpaper but I’d be very happy to have a grey base to start with.

Dreahil1 · 02/01/2021 19:12

Then outside grey walls look awful. I really like the bathroom. Not keen on the kitchen titles.
