So much grey! I’m surprised the grass isn’t grey (Rightmove)

(Not judging the house in any way, just the amount of grey)

This one would be so much easier to redecorate to your own taste.

Yes the NatWest hole is a proper feature here! It’s typical of the local humour. We also have Straws bridge nature reserve that the locals call Swan Lake. As there are lots of swans. It’s a down to earth, funny place to live.

HedgieHog · 02/01/2021 17:52

A lovely bright sofa, accessories and art would work a treat
I know grey is no longer en trend for a lot of people but I think you could move straight in to that home and live just fine as you match to your own taste over time. There are a lot of worse properties to move into

I like it.
Decent house for a family.

I find the awful fake grass more offensive to be honest

S0CKS · 02/01/2021 17:54

only thing I dislike is the outside it does make me think that they just threw some grey paint at the walls.

SaturdayAfternoon · 02/01/2021 17:55

The house seems decent and is clean (the most important thing). It’s not the house I reacted to, but the colour scheme (I was wondering eh6 the photos were black and white until the penny dropped). It started me musing about why grey is better to sell a house (instead of plain white). Decorating a home is one thing. Decorating a house to sell (which this seems to be) is another.

@theverygrumpysanta

I mean the colours scheme is fine... BUT why has no one commented on how close the toilet is to the sink!? Also, how do you get into the bath? It looks like it has glass along half the side before the toilet...do you have to climb over the toilet to get into the bath?
YES! the loo and sink are the wrong way around! you'd have to be reasonably nimble to get in & out of the bath/ shower. They've also put the radiator in a collossaly dumb place in one of the bedrooms (in the alcove)
SaturdayAfternoon · 02/01/2021 17:56

Even the car outside is grey Grin

the half fitted kitchen with the awkward sized gaps just left open instead of cutting the units to size makes me sad. Suggests the entire thing has been an almighty bodge on a budget

SaturdayAfternoon · 02/01/2021 17:57

I think it’s because it’s all (inside and out) more or less the same shade of grey.

Each to their own but I was looking at a house on Rightmove recently, all rooms grey, by the fourth picture my vision went weird - like snowblindness! Confused

MatildaonaWaltzer · 02/01/2021 17:58

2nd link house has gravelled the entire garden! that's as bad as the fake plastic grass :(

SaturdayAfternoon · 02/01/2021 17:59

I can’t work out the outside area - there seem to be three areas (not just front and back)

OP posts:
bettbattenburg · 02/01/2021 17:59

Apart from the ecological disaster that is the back yard I like it

Beamur · 02/01/2021 18:01

Some friends of mine have just moved into a nice house, but redecorated throughout to sell - in grey - it's horrible. Dismal.

MrsWooster · 02/01/2021 18:04

I regularly shout at the telly about this- Homes Under the Hammer is a devil for the grey.

Bananaman123 · 02/01/2021 18:04

Ha when i sold my flat the hall was beige, kitchen yellow, bathroom blue, spare room purple, bedroom toffee and living room toffee. 15years ago mind

I'd never heard of ilkeston till today. Now I want to see the famous NatWest hole in the wall and write a TripAdvisor review on it. I like that kind of humour.
corlan · 02/01/2021 18:09

I think you'll find that's not 'grey' dahling - it's 'Elephants breath.'

Florelei · 02/01/2021 18:09

I like it! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Rtmhwales · 02/01/2021 18:09

Our entire house was painted that grey, with grey carpets and grey hardwood flooring. Tbh the walls are just as easy to paint over as the white ones were and mark less easily with toddlers.

Tal45 · 02/01/2021 18:10

I don't mind the inside but the way they've painted all the outside grey is odd - I guess they had paint left over, it'll probably all wash off when it rains :-D
It does look like the pics are in black and white though.

Bence69 · 02/01/2021 18:12

That’s my house ....Wink
