How many glasses do you have?

Vitaminsss · 01/01/2021 18:17

Boring one, sorry!

Browsing JL’s website - I didn’t realise there are so many different types of glasses. Eg Specific glasses for Prosecco/white wine/red win/gin/cocktails etc, alongside standard glasses/mugs.

Does anyone actually own all the separate variants? What would you say are essentials? Thanks

We're good at breaking glasses!!
Got about 2 pint glasses, 4 red wine glasses no one drinks red wine here only 3 large wine glasses, two medium wine glasses, 3 or 4 irn bru glasses, 1 champagne glass and two of those chunky ikea tumblers.

Mydogisagentleman · 01/01/2021 18:35

Loads.
Red, white and champagne for wine.
Pint glasses and general squash glasses. Gin glasses and tumblers

Plonque · 01/01/2021 18:36

Well I started off with
6 x tall tumblers
6 x short bulb-type glasses (think wine without the stem)
12 x chunkier tumblers that'll fit a whole beer can in.
4 x chunky dishwasher safe wine glasses.
4 x polycarbonate wine glasses (for kids at Christmas or using outside)
8 x IKEA £1 finer wine glasses but still DishW safe.
6 x shot glasses.
There's a few missing out of these sets now due to breakages and I have Several mismatched single wine glasses from sets that have also been largely broken over the years.

Too many and none of them match coz we're always breaking them and many parents give a gin/wine glass at the end of term.

WisestIsShe · 01/01/2021 18:38

We have lots too. Tall tumblers for squash/water, red and white wine, champagne, few liqueur ones and a couple of spirit tumblers. And the requisite novelty shot glasses, I have no idea where they came from.

DelphineWalsh · 01/01/2021 18:40

X2 short tumblers for spirits
X2 high balls for long mixers
X1 wine glass because dh doesn't drink wine
We use insulated bottles for water

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 01/01/2021 18:41

I’d love to have the room for all the variants!

I have 8 of each of the following in my “glass cabinet” - flutes for fizz, port glasses, large stemless wine glasses, large stemmed wine glasses, small stemmed wine glasses, tall tumblers, short tumblers. These all match.

I also various beer glasses and some other “odds & sods” as well as the IKEA tumblers for general every day use.

AuntieMarys · 01/01/2021 18:41

8 white wine, 8 red wine, 8 champagne, 8 gin glasses, about 20 beer ones, 6 shot glasses, 12 cocktail glasses plus about 10 tumblers. And yes, we use them all

DrunkenKoala · 01/01/2021 18:46

4x red, white and champagne glasses
4x pint glasses
4x half pint/soda glasses
4x tumblers
2x latte/hot chocolate glasses

DP has a couple of specialist craft beer glasses.

DisneyPrincess37 · 01/01/2021 18:54

There is only me and my DP we have:
2 x wine glasses
1 x gin glass
4 x Prosecco glass
6 x small drinking glass
6 x large drinking glass
4 x shot glasses

Although we also have 3 unopened boxes of shot glasses, drinking glasses and beer glasses for when we move!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 01/01/2021 18:56

Loads and loads. Less matching as they break.

ShrikeAttack · 01/01/2021 18:56

Tons!

8 white
8 red
8 champagne
8 highball

8 brandy
12 shot
12 liqueur
4 martini

6 margarita
About 12 everday tumblers
4 pint
6 for other beer styles
4 hot toddy
Probably about another 10 odds and ends.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 01/01/2021 19:00

LBOCS2 · 01/01/2021 20:44

So, so many.

We have at least:

4 red wine glasses
4 white wine glasses
8 fizz glasses
4 champagne flutes
4 tall beer glasses
6 pint glasses
6 glasses-which-were-Nutella-jars
4 small glasses with flamingoes on
6 small water glasses
6 large water glasses
8 JL water glasses
4 gin glasses
4 champagne coupes

Almost all of the 4s used to be sets of 6, anything over 6 but less than 12 were probably at one time sets of 12. And I'm sure that's not all of them, I just can't remember any more 🤔

ShirleyPhallus · 01/01/2021 20:48

I am a total snob about glassware. It gives me the heebie jeebies if you go to someone’s house and they have a random assortment of wine glasses, pouring a bottle of wine between 4 people using a tiny old fashioned pub wine glass, a medium one looking like it’s been nicked out of a pub, a massive glass and then a random tumbler. Those people always seem to have those Coke glasses too.

Actually I think it’s cos if people have that much mismatched glassware I assume some of it will have been nicked from a pub.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 01/01/2021 20:53

4 pint glasses.
6 tall all purpose glasses.
6 ex Nutella jars that make excellent bedside water glasses.
4 juice glasses that have little cats on them.
6 champagne.
6 white wine.
4 cocktail.
4 brandy.
4 port sippers.
4 shot glasses.
2 gin glasses.

PandaBabyJuly · 01/01/2021 20:55

2 x tall tumbler glasses
2 x smaller tumblers
4 x red wine glasses - no one drinks red wine but I didn't know they did white ones ha!

7 million plastic beakers because we "needed" doc mcstuffins, peppa pig, Minnie Mouse etc ..... and we always break glasses which is how I only have 8 as above!

Chicchicchicchiclana · 01/01/2021 21:00

1 pint glass.
2 tall thin tumblers.
2 tall glass hot chocolate mugs with handles.
6 large glasses,
8 medium glasses.
Couple of random whisky glasses came free with bottles of whisky.
Few Nutella jars.
6 sherry glasses.
Maybe 10 wine glasses, cheap, various, come from the supermarket.
6 champagne flutes.

TheChosenTwo · 01/01/2021 21:05

I have an excessive glass collection!
Most of it has a tall cupboard and each set live in their boxes to keep them safe Grin
The majority of it is non essential, dh and I drink wine out of tumblers as we are clumsy fuckers and knock stemmed ones over easily.

Margo34 · 01/01/2021 21:16

Inthetropics · 01/01/2021 21:18

itssquidstella · 01/01/2021 21:22

We have hi balls, tumblers, pint glasses, champagne flutes, wine glasses and whisky glasses. Also a couple of shot glasses knocking around, although we mostly use them as measuring cups!

itssquidstella · 01/01/2021 21:22
