For me

  • I park in parent and child spaces when I have my kids with me. I don't make my life harder by parking in a tiny normal space just in case that childless bloke in the Porsche 911 who runs into Asda like Linford Christie might have a better reason for it than me
  • if I have a bad experience I complain. If I find my £40 steak swimming in fat with a pube in it, I don't refrain from saying anything just in case the chef has had a bad day.
  • I go to the supermarket during the pandemic, I don't leave shaking and sobbing and riddled with guilt over it because I bought a Galaxy. I even take my kids with me.
  • I don't "seethe" if, when the secret Santa budget is £5, I get a Bayliss and Harding gift set. I accept that £5 means limited options and I say thanks, move on and don't take it as a personal alight for years to come. I don't have the hump becauSe they didn't personally whittle a keyring from wood in the oak tree that tenderly grows in their back garden

What makes you unmumsnetty?

I never cook from scratch.
I wash most things at 60 degrees.
I spend a small fortune of our DCs at Xmas and birthdays.
I have never restricted our DCs'screen time.
I don't feel remotely guilty about having a cleaner.
I find going on wholesome walks incredibly tedious.
I frankly enjoy a 5* resort especially if it's all-inclusive.
I loathe camping with a passion.
I really like men and rarely scream LTB.
I love a huge, lavish wedding. The more opulent the better. I especially love an adult-only wedding.
I hate wine.
I don't take myself seriously.

justanothermamma · 01/01/2021 19:52

I'm realistic about life and know I'll never be perfect, I do my best but...

  • The washing sometimes gets left for an extra day.. or three.
  • I was my sheets towels when I can but sod doing it everyday!
  • My toddler is not always impeccably behaved, are any?
  • I wear UGG boots most of the time (not a chav they're just like slippers you can go out in, YES)
  • I smoke (never inside and only after the kids have gone to bed)
  • I use disposable nappies for my baby.
  • We have loo brushes.. (why is this frowned upon?)
  • I let my toddler watch her iPad when she needs a poo to keep her on the toilet.
  • I send my toddler to nursery because I want to. I have gotten so much shit for keeping her there while I'm on maternity leave and not using grandparents..?! Why there is an expectation for grandparents to babysit I don't know - if they offer and they're retired, fine but my parents still work full time.
  • I got married at a registry office and had the reception at a village hall, it wasn't lavish but everyone had a fabulous time so who cares?
  • My toddler could probably order a Happy Meal herself at the drive thru.
  • I always answer the door and the dogs bark like mad when it goes anyway so it's already embarassing before I get to the door so I may as well see what online shopping I've ordered has arrived.
  • I love working and I look forward to going back after maternity. Anyone who makes a Mum feel shit for wanting to work needs to fuck off.
  • My husband is WONDERFUL, we are a dream team when it comes to the kids and with life in general.
  • My Mum spoils me still and I spoil her back because she deserves the world.
  • My husband had a girlfriend when I first met him. Yep, I was that person.
KateF · 01/01/2021 20:03

I love Mumsnet and have been here a long time but

  • I trained for a 'profession' but am far happier in my low paid childcare job
  • because of the above I am poor
  • my teenagers have been allowed to make their own choices about education and none of them have chosen university
  • I have a dog and go out to work
  • I think it's daft to judge a child by their name
  • I have no idea what class I am and no interest in pigeon holing people by class

I don't have anxiety

I don't know hardly anything about the daily lives of other people in my community, much less whether they are breaking rules or laws

I care more about facts than opinions

I don't care how clean things are

I don't project my history or problems onto other people's stories

finisterreforever · 01/01/2021 20:06

I don't like Duran Duran and especially not John Taylor

Cattermole · 01/01/2021 20:07

Him Indoors is a stay at home dad and I work.
It gives me a deal of pleasure to do the laundry and the hoovering. He bought me a turbo-powered hoover one Christmas and actually I thought that was really thoughtful - he'd bought me a tool I use, to make a job I do, easier.
My elderly cat likes to lick the cream off hot chocolate and I let him.

firstimemamma · 01/01/2021 20:11

I'm working class.
I'm an unmarried sahm (for now) and we planned for it to be this way.
I don't drink.
I'm a vegetarian.
I was thrilled and so happy when I found out we were having a boy, not "absolutely devastated" as so many on here seem to be.
When I think I might be pregnant I don't ask on mn if anyone thinks I might be, I just go and buy a test.

Keeping2ChevronsApart · 01/01/2021 20:13

@thedamnseason

Would ban all private education and healthcare. Would never call my partner my other half or hubby. Yuck. Would equally never use DH, DD, Dfuckingdog, DSC etc It makes me dry heave. Ditto 'naice'. Ditto Mummy of ... usernames. I like my friends, have lots of them. I fucking love a wedding. Not a TERF.
Oh no I just called mine my other half 🤣

Can't stand DP, he's not my boyfriend - we're not 15 and not keen on partner either. Maybe I'll just stick 'him' 🤔

midsomermurderess · 01/01/2021 20:16

I don't find myself sat here shaking and crying.

Keeping2ChevronsApart · 01/01/2021 20:23

@glas14368

Also not rich. Staggering amount of people if here asking if they should buy a house which when I have a nose, turns out to be 1.5 million. Or people saying that they save £1000 a month. Or should they send kids to private school or give them £250,000 instead.

Just wow. Are they just boasting on here or looking for advice.

Like mentioned above on the thread about whether you can tell if someone has had a private education. A lot of the posters probably couldn't but it was an excuse to say they move in those circles.
lemonsquashie · 01/01/2021 20:27

I can type the full words: husband, kids, mum etc

Ginfordinner · 01/01/2021 20:30

Just thought of some more.

I hate "snuggling" and "cosy"
I don't like candles
I rarely drink hot chocolate
I hate winter
I love hot weather and weaaring summer clothes

Waxonwaxoff0 · 01/01/2021 20:46

I'm an extrovert and love going out with my friends and seeing people. I don't look for reasons to cancel social events.

Newdonewhugh · 01/01/2021 20:55

I couldn’t care less about covid.
I’m never livid, in tears, or shaking with rage.
I don’t believe in cutting people out of your life.
I like all my family.
I not obsessed with whether people are married or not.
I don’t get angry when strangers on the internet disagree with me.
In fact, I think I only come on Mumsnet to marvel at what a diverse World we live in. I’d say that I have a different opinion on most things to 90% of Mumsnetters.
I’m a born rule breaker and Mumsnetters are really, really , really into doing what they’ve been told.

finisterreforever · 01/01/2021 20:55

@midsomermurderess

I don't find myself sat here shaking and crying.
Me neither. I'm also not done and I can carry on because, really, there's no choice is there ?
letsgomaths · 01/01/2021 21:10

I wear trainers without socks all year round (I have loads of pairs); Ugg boots as well.
I love hot weather.
I think it's very WRONG that we're sacrificing so much on the altar of Covid.

ZoeCM · 01/01/2021 21:14

I believe contraceptive failures are rare.

I don't think it's okay to sleep with someone else's partner. Yes, the main responsibility lies with the cheater themselves, but it doesn't mean the other party has behaved admirably.

I don't think staying together for the sake of the kids is necessarily a bad thing. No, it's not great for kids to grow up with two parents who aren't happy together, but it's still probably better than all the drama that comes with being part of a blended family (or two). I think the impact of divorce on children gets downplayed hugely to spare adults' feelings.

I don't have much sympathy for gender disappointment. A mild preference is understandable, but the whole "grieve for the daughter you don't have" thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If you have a child, you should accept them for who they are and love them unconditionally, not wish you could swap them for someone of another sex.

BadlyArrangedToasties · 01/01/2021 21:17

I have a cockapoo and she goes off lead
My kids eat mcdonalds
I don’t obsess over screen time or set screen time limits
I don’t keep track of what I do or my husband does or insist it’s always 50 50. Sometimes I do more, sometimes he does more. It all works out in the wash.
I iron. And I iron my husband’s shirts
I have a loo brush
I have a bin in the loo

MrsBennetsnerves · 01/01/2021 21:20

I'm not a mum and am too old to become one.
I'm from a working class background.
DH has a hobby which I'm not annoyed by. I also take part in the same hobby.

OrigamiOwl · 01/01/2021 21:32

I want a hot tub.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 01/01/2021 21:32

I have another - I think it's fine for people to dislike dogs and even not want one. This is a VERY unpopular view here. One of the worst threads I ever read was a few weeks ago when a lady with a baby posted saying that her partner's dog (he had the dog before he met her it was an old dog) was a nightmare to live with - forever barking and woke the baby, needed constant walking, would piss and shit everywhere etc - and she had to deal with it all as she was on maternity. It was so bad that she was considering moving out, her OH was expecting her to do everything

She got called evil, a bitch, a cunt, told to "get out of the dog's house then", a sociopath, all sorts. It was horrific to watch.

Ginfordinner · 01/01/2021 21:36

I don't mind ironing

Lucieintheskye · 01/01/2021 21:36

-I was 18 when I met my now husband- he was 34.
-We live in an old house with some land but aren't tories
-I'm a housewife and DH is a mid-high earner, I don't feel financially dependent on him or oppressed by him
-I like being able to have dinner on the table and be wearing clean clothes and makeup when he gets home from work

  • I own a lot of clothes and wear different ones for each season
  • We don't have children and haven't decided whether we would like them.
  • I adore my MIL, she's one of my dearest friends
  • We have loo brushes!
DressingGownofDoom · 01/01/2021 21:37

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 01/01/2021 21:38
