Anyone not acknowledging this new years eve at all?

Single, 2 small DC. Lots of friends having family zoom quizzes, laying out nice buffets etc. I'm getting the dc in bed then reading my book in my pjs.

Anyone else? All seems a bit pointless!

Single parent with toddler here. We’ve had McDonalds for a treat, sofa cuddles then bath and bed. Literally couldn’t care less. Tomorrow will be the same as today so feel no desire to celebrate
Happy/Safe New Year

we would normally have been at the pub we go to with our friends but as we cant i will probably have one drink and like you go to bed early then get woken up when the ruddy fireworks go off at midnight

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 31/12/2020 19:05

Me. Two small DC, husband working. Tried making a fun party tea. Uneaten. Waste of time. Considered sitting up but I'll still have to get up with DS at the crack of bloody dawn to the same shite, different year.

Sounds nice and peaceful.

I'm definitely watching at midnight on the tele because I love seeing the countdown and fireworks around the world, but that's it. Tea, toast and chocolate!

FestiveStuffing · 31/12/2020 19:06

DH and I probably won't bother. DS (2 months) was up half the night last night and DD (2 years) gets up at 6.30 a.m. We're both exhausted so I think we'll be in bed long before midnight.

DrWankincense · 31/12/2020 19:07

I wasn't going to as we normally don't but DD has been quite down so we've spent the day cooking lovely food and we are both getting our fancy frocks on and having a party to say thank fuck 2020 is over.
Not that I think we are out of the woods yet but she needs a little lightness and frivolity.

Worriesandwobbles · 31/12/2020 19:08

Never see the fuss about new years eve, rarely make it up past midnight. This year has been so rubbish I am just glad to see the back of it. Will however be trying to finish all the alcohol and chocolate in the house so I can start January with good intentions 😂

RosieLemonade · 31/12/2020 19:10

Having drinks and dinner. If things looked brighter we would be celebrating. But the future looks bloody dire.

OverTheRainbow88 · 31/12/2020 19:10

No fuss here, kids in bed will eat tea then probs go to bed as well!

May go mad and pop a sleeping pill to sleep through all the fireworks m

Krazynights34 · 31/12/2020 19:11

I’m going to drink all the booze and have a dry January.
My DD often gets up at2/3/4 am so that’s on the cards too

becca3210 · 31/12/2020 19:11

I will be in bed before 12 but no doubt awake up at 3 thanks to my son 😂

speakout · 31/12/2020 19:13

I don't celebrate the calender new year at all.
Normal food, shower, early night.

OublietteBravo · 31/12/2020 19:17

Well I did my tax return. I think that’s about as exciting as today is going to get.

ImFree2doasiwant · 31/12/2020 19:18

Glad it's not just me. I do feel a proper misery though. I just can't be arsed.

catfeets · 31/12/2020 19:19

Just a normal night here for me and the baby. My DP is working and I'm hoping my arsehole of a neighbour doesn't make my night hell.
I don't usually do much for new year anyway.

HerRoyalNotness · 31/12/2020 19:21

We got some fireworks in but there was a massive storm this morning and it’s still raining, so most likely won’t do anything much.

TokyoSushi · 31/12/2020 19:23

Buffet dinner and then I usually go to bed about 12ish anyway so will likely stay up. DH was up for work at 4:30am so will likely be in bed, so it'll be just me and the dog.

DC 7 & 9 will stay up until about 10 ish.

HedgieHog · 31/12/2020 19:26

I’m not doing anything any different this year, staying in with my mum, might make midnight but not bothered if I don’t
New year brings the worst out in me, I get maudlin and reflective so not bothered about making a fuss on a normal year let alone this odd one!
I used to love it, trips into London every year with a gang of mates. Great fun at the time.
Don’t feel like you are missing out, just do what makes you happy with your little family ❤️

Thesagacontinues · 31/12/2020 19:27

Same as last year for us (me, dp, ds7 and ds1).

Just had curry, now watching a film and probably be in bed by 10.

SteveHarringtonsHair · 31/12/2020 19:28

Single here too, my DM was supposed to be coming but my eldest has been ill on and off all day and youngest has lost his sense of taste and smell so spent part of today booking a test for us.
I’m on furlough (again) and can’t see anything worth staying up for.
I feel like a right party pooper though.

madcatladyforever · 31/12/2020 19:30

My friend just died. It doesn't seem right to celebrate anything so I'm off to bed.

missbunnyrabbit · 31/12/2020 19:33

I'm not doing anything because my bf would rather celebrate with his mates than with me. I'm not bitter Smile

(No one in his village social-distances)

purplecorkheart · 31/12/2020 19:43

I am so sorry for your loss madcatforever.

I am curling up in bed with youtube. Learned over Christmas how little I matter to my family so really can not be bothered to but on New Year act that I am happy.

InFiveMins · 31/12/2020 19:45

Just me and DP - we're chilling out and will order a takeaway later and watch TV - nothing special, can't be bothered. Feeling very pessimistic today and thinking whilst I can't wait to see the back of 2020, 2021 is looking pretty shit too.
