Why did they kill off Mr Heckles in Friends?

That was a mistake. They could have kept that background storyline running throughout (like ugly naked guy until Ross took over and Gunther loving Rachel) for little heckles interruptions on their lives.

He had the tacky lamp that rachel got mr heckles was great.

Yes he stole Marcel and gave him a lovely pink tutu dress which Marcel refused to take off when he came back to Ross

Mr heckles lived below Monica and Rachel which was why he was always complaining about the noise. And why when Rachel fell off the balcony and was dangling by her Christmas light entwined ankle, she could see him through the window while he ignored her pleas for help

I’m watching now and he died in episode 3 of season 2. I hadn’t realised it was so early on in the shows life. If someone had asked me I’d have guessed he was in for at least 3 seasons. They got a lot of value out of those short scenes.

Yeah i was rewatching a couple months ago and was surprised how little he was in it. If ever asked for a character mr heckles is always first to come up.

Wasn't it to show Chandler how lonely his life might turn out to be if he carried on being so picky about women he dated? When Chandler read his yearbook, he was shocked to see how many similarities he had with Mr H when he was a young man?
