Hairdresser made me look like Duggie from hey duggie :-(

Just that really.
We don’t live in the uk, I went to the hairdresser yesterday and she gave me a slightly unwanted sleek Bob (I asked for a trim but think this got lost in translation). I’ve washed and styled it myself this morning and now have to go around answering ‘woof’ to everything for six weeks until it grows.

Any tips for getting my hair to look less like a set of ears?!?
Or can you cheer me up with your tales of less-that-awesome haircuts?

My hairdresser cut about 5 inches off my hair when I was pregnant - she was scared to show my in the mirror I could tell, I managed to hold it together until I left and then cried for about a week.

Stupidly I went back to her after the baby was born and this time she used a razor to thin my hair, which just accentuated the post-baby hair regrowth you get and now I have loads of tiny flyaways round my face.

Sittinginmyoodie · 30/12/2020 08:25

Deffo need a photo

What type of hair do you have for a start?

I'm guessing she blow dried it and you can't replicate this at home. If so, buy some straighteners.

Lollyneenah · 30/12/2020 08:25

Sorry OP But this has made me laugh Grin

I once bleached my hair and slathered it in red hair dye to attempt a pillar box red.
It turned a neon glowing orange. I tried to style it out as only teenagers can do but I'll never forget an old lady on the bus saying "good gracious" as I plonked myself down in the seat opposite hers 😂

In the mean time, strip this woman of her hairdressing badge.

Awoof

My phone camera has died, or I would provide evidence for you all to laugh at!
Just imagine duggie with blonde not brown hair, female and approaching 40 and you’ve got it.

I think it’s mostly gone a bit odd and bushy at the bottom. Normally I do very little with it - it’s past my shoulders and wavy and gets roughly shoved back in a pony tail 90% of the time. Now it’s almost triangle shaped.

Woof!

My post-lockdown haircut made me look like Grayson Perry. Much as I love Grayson, it wasn't the look i was going for.

triceratops12 · 30/12/2020 08:47

A woof woof!!

I'm sure there's an episode of hey dougie called 'the hair badge' where they do his hair. Maybe you could take inspiration from this in how to style it?

Ah teenage attempts at dye I wanted that bright pink that Gwen Stefani had in about 97/8 but have mousy brown hair. Was informed by my equally daft mate I would need to buy blonde dye, then red to achieve said look. Dyed it blonde with her help. The roots were blonde. 2 inch of the ends also orangey blonde. Middle bit had no sign of having been bleached whatsoever, leaving me blonde, brown, blondey orange. But being a teen, who cares and stuck the bright red/pink on anyway, in the teenage stupidity thought process that that would somehow make it look better. It really didn't and I ended up with pink/orange/scarlet hair in vertical stripes. The daftest thing was my mates thought it looked cool and was done deliberately Grin

@EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide

Do phone cameras die??
Of course they do.

Especially if you whack them with a hammer so that you can't take any incriminating selfies of dodgy haircuts.

doodlejump1980 · 30/12/2020 08:57

@Lollyneenah strip this woman of her hairdressing badge. Awoof.

^😂

Do phone cameras die??
Nope.
SoupDragon · 30/12/2020 09:00

Of course they can. Do you think they are magically protected or something? All parts on a phone can die.

SinkGirl · 30/12/2020 09:03

Surely if you’re now Duggee, you know every bloody thing about everything, and can call on your Blowdrying Badge, Haircut Badge, Clippers Badge and if all else fails, your Headscarf badge.
(Also your Phone Camera Badge so we can see).

MutteringDarkly · 30/12/2020 09:03

Was it triangular shaped immediately after it was butchered? If not, but has turned that way since, you could deploy a LOT of product to weigh down the ends and/or straighteners as PP suggested...

As a young teen my mum allowed me the treat of going to her hairdressers. Except he gave me the same "style" he did for my mum, so chopped my hair short then did a round brush blow dry on it so I looked like I should be sitting on the top of a knitted toilet roll cover. Not easy to survive that at 13, tbh.

Kljnmw3459 · 30/12/2020 09:06

How about wearing a stylish headwrap for 6 weeks?

RosesandPumpkins · 30/12/2020 09:07

Muttering 🤣🤣🤣 wow the imagery

Sexnotgender · 30/12/2020 09:07

Oh dear. My toddler would love you though if that makes you feel better😂

Awoof!

Soubriquet · 30/12/2020 09:15

When I was 16, my mum arranged for me to have my hair cut, coloured and styled

Then a photo shoot afterwords as i was being bullied and she thought it would be a confidence booster

My hair was dyed with brown and blonde highlights, and the hairdresser styled it zig zag like so it looked cool.

Until I washed it myself. I couldn’t style it how they did so I just had these big sections of blonde and brown through my hair

Looked awful Grin

WhySoSensitive · 30/12/2020 09:36

The same has happened to me. I look like an angry middle aged woman when I’m only 29. I’m actually heartbroken.

Bloody loved my hair, needed it shortened to give it a good cut and get rid of the dead ends and she’s given me a very short graduated Bob. Long at the front so barely noticed when she was cutting it!

AMBE123 · 02/01/2021 17:48

I usually have a shortish reverse bob styled to one side, kind of a 'wish I looked like Kristen Stewart look' When I got my post-first-lockdown hair cut after 4 months, I said I quite liked having the extra length now that it had grown down to chin length, and just wanted a trim to give a bit of shape.

So she cut the top in 2-3" layers and left the sides long. You know, like a straight haired poodle. When I went back she insisted that is what I'd asked for Shock
Thankfully I was still working at home!

I agree with the other posters, maybe weight it down with product or silicon shine spray and use straighteners. Either that or maybe scrunch dry it into waves / use straighteners to wave it?
