Hairdresser made me look like Duggie from hey duggie :-(

Just that really.
We don’t live in the uk, I went to the hairdresser yesterday and she gave me a slightly unwanted sleek Bob (I asked for a trim but think this got lost in translation). I’ve washed and styled it myself this morning and now have to go around answering ‘woof’ to everything for six weeks until it grows.

Any tips for getting my hair to look less like a set of ears?!?
Or can you cheer me up with your tales of less-that-awesome haircuts?

Sounds like it’s to heavy on the ends and needs to be professionally thinned out on the ends bottom perimeter don’t let them used thinning scissors thou a good stylist can do this with their scissors ✂️ ( qualified hairstylist) hope this helps xxx

I ended up with a cross between Grayson Perry and Wendolene from Wallace and Grommet last year. I cried for a week and in desperation turned up at a different hairdressers in tears. She ended up giving me a pixie cut which looked great and so much better than the Grayson Perry look but I'm now growing out as I missed being able to do other things with my hair.

I used to have a kind of shaggy pixie cut and the hairdresser would occasionally insist on blow drying it into a bouffant when it was done, but it was so short that it made me look very like Myra Hindley Confused My facial features are also quite similar to hers - how the hairdresser didn't see the resemblance I have no idea. I was young and too shy to say anything, so I always went straight home to shower while praying I wouldn't run into anyone I knew!

Four years ago my hairdressers who was also my bestie said she would colour and perm my hair well this was perfect as it my daughter's wedding so she gave me a discount and i treated my daughter to her hair being done at the same time as me, my daughter wanted a two tone look and with a red and black, I told my friend my colour was to just be lightened as I like the dark brown hair I had, by the time she had finished with my daughter's cut and colour, I didn't realise at the time that she had cut my daughter's hair lob sided, and well I'm in the chair as so to speak waiting for a perm to set after a colour, and I waited and waited and then i started to complain about my head burning and she kept saying it's fine don't worry it's gonna be great, well it was great the colour was all wrong and by the time she washed my hair my head was throbbing, we went home that night I woke up to burning really bad and a screaming headache, I got to bathroom sink only to find the complete top of my head was really red and I could see blood and then I was in shock my hair was falling out in clumps, I went to A&E and they told me I had third degree burns and that my hair may never grow back properly, needless to say after informing my so called friend, she informed me she had no insurance and that she didn't know how to help, she shut up shop never to be heard of again, my daughter's hair was ruined she had hair down to her waist to and now it was below her shoulder blades and had to be cut again, she was so angry and upset that her hair was ruined for her wedding, four years on after alot of burn cream and heat therapy and I used alot of pony and tail to shampoo and conditioner, to strengthen my hair again. I still have a patch that reminds everyday of never going to the hairdresses again. Anyhow that's my story of hairdressers from hell.

WhySoSensitive... 'angry middle aged woman...' Grin V funny. I know what you mean.
I have v thick hair (now long but had all sorts including a kind of graded bob as I frazzled my hair underneath going through my silver blonde phase and dying it myself Confused) and previous cuts have ended up resembling that overly coiffured kind of frumpy female newsreader hair. It's always fine in the hairdresser but when I get home I can't deal with it it.

Probably sounds a bit basic, but have you tried changing your parting? Also, maybe try adding a slight wave using straighteners.

My worst hair cut was a fringe cut way too short so that it bounced up to just the first few centimetres of forehead. Awful.

Sweetpea1532 · 05/01/2021 04:16

...I got a brill idea in my teen years that I needed a perm, and well, how hard could it be?
Thank goodness I overestimated my perming abilities so it 'took' on only half of my waist length hair. Of course the part that 'took' just happened to be my fringe. This was back in the 70s and I must have blocked out the horror of my head since I can't remember the remedy for my frizzy fringe which stuck straight up...I know you all require a photo but since one isn't available, I have provided an adequate facsimile
@FrenchFancie
Would you please let us know how you are getting on and since your camera has died maybe you could draw us a photo alsoGrin

Do half up half down. It completely takes away the triangle look when done in the tight way. Play around with it and see what works.

You could also try curling it with rollers or a wand, which is probably what I would do, but I know that isn't everyone's cup of tea. (I already have curly hair but still sometimes prefer the precise look of a curling wind as I have more control over the end result)

In the mean time, strip this woman of her hairdressing badge

Awoof

This made me howl . At least it’s January and you have genuine cause to wear a hat

NoDontDoIt · 05/01/2021 05:01

I've been there....try a side parting and half up half down as suggested!

TheDoctorDances · 05/01/2021 08:57

It’s hat season, get some fashionable hats to cover it until it grows out.
