Best wine to go with a Double Decker?

Neither of the DCs like them, so DH and I have won one each from their selection boxes - but they should be enjoyed with a drink!

What drink?

Going out on a limb, but surely any wine would do!! Or spirit

pinkdragons · 29/12/2020 20:33

I'd prefer a brandy with a Double Decker, I think.

Lambrini

Skip the wine and have a Bailey's hot chocolate Smile.

MrsWembley · 29/12/2020 20:35

I don't have Lambrini, but I do have cheap brandy! I also have a good single malt, maybe that will work?

Sweet wine-moscato perhaps. Love double deckers, my chocolate bar of choice.

MrsWembley · 29/12/2020 20:35

Not a big Bailey's fan...

Something fizzy?

checkingforballoons · 29/12/2020 20:37

Rum and Coke, obviously

AlexCabot · 29/12/2020 20:37

Merlot to compliment the top notes of marshmallow?

I'm currently pairing a lovely Chardonnay with Quality Street.

MrsWembley · 29/12/2020 20:37

... although DH has just suggested he might take his to bed, "with a small Irish cream..."

Pimms

waitrosetrollydolly · 29/12/2020 20:40

Chocolate and single malt is how they serve the whisky in the Balmoral in Edinburgh ! It's a real thing !!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 29/12/2020 20:41

I think a good gin and tonic would do the trick nicely.

I’m now craving a Double Decker!

Doublechins · 29/12/2020 20:41

I just can't have alcohol with chocolate 🤮

The best combo I could do would be a baileys coffee with it. Actually I might just do that.

june2007 · 29/12/2020 20:45

An irish coffee might be nice?

LynetteScavo · 29/12/2020 20:46

Brandy or rum.

Baileys would be great. Try putting a double decker, Baleys and ice in a blender. It will be an amazing smoothie. Trust me.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 29/12/2020 20:47

Best question of the year!

Gin would be best otherwise a nice Sauvignon blanc...

AuntieStella · 29/12/2020 20:49

I don't think wine and chocolate mix, though you could try a very rich malmsey?

I'd prefer brandy or at a pinch southern comfort

Sauternes or possibly Tokay. Failing that, a good Viognier will get you through. Like other posters, I’d go for spirits rather than wine with a double decker. Cognac perhaps.

Or port - goes with anything (any port in a storm and all that...)
