I don't have any pets but I haven't used my HWB at all this end of the year. I don't know why I haven't got round to it as it's certainly cold enough.

What a fabulous, humble invention the HWB is.

Yes, because Icant use an electric blanket with the mattress.

WildRosie · 29/12/2020 13:02

My Mum used to swear by her electric blanket and was always trying to convince me to buy one. I never have done. HWBs are more versatile - good for cold toes and poorly tummies as well as bed-warming.

I very nearly bought a single electric blanket today (to cover my half of the king sized bed!) but opted against it. I do have a bean bag thing that goes in the microwave, it's about 3ft long and when it's hot I lay it on me like a snake. It's Amazing.

I’ve been using mine for months but not for bedtime, I have it to keep me warm while I’m working from home! I work in the kitchen at the dining table and it’s freezing in there because the floor is tiled and I don’t like turning the heating up too high all day or it would cost a fortune. So a nice cosy HWB cuddled on my lap does the trick nicely!

OxfordwillsaveusbyFebruary · 29/12/2020 19:53

Not recommended for dogs!

Plump82 · 29/12/2020 19:58

I have an plug in throw that i use in bed or on the sofa and one of my cats is glued to me when its on. He loves it. We gave them a hot water bottle when they were babies last Christmas but they don't use their beds any more so i dont bother.

tillytown · 29/12/2020 20:02

My dog is using one of those bags of rice/pulses(?) that you heat up in a microwave, I gave it to her when she tipped over and hurt her leg in October and is now addicted to it. I have no idea how to clean the thing, its starting to stink

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/12/2020 20:07

Electric blankets are great, you should get one.

CausingChaos2 · 29/12/2020 20:10

I’ve got an electric blanket and heated throw Blush

So soothing on achey joints! The cats appreciate them too...

Toddlerteaplease · 29/12/2020 20:11

I put my summer duvet under my winter one. It's so toasty. The cats have a heat pad but I think they find it a bit too hot.

Cailleach · 29/12/2020 20:14

My cat has had hers at night for a few weeks now. My electric blanket just died on me so I think I'll just get myself a hwb instead - much cheaper.

Xerochrysum · 29/12/2020 20:16

I used it during the day. Carry around the house. It's very comforting. And I place behind my back or neck on the sofa when it's aching. But mostly when I'm on pc in the dining room, wooden floor is very cold.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 29/12/2020 20:16

My dog likes the cold and will happily trot past her comfy cosy bed to lay on the freezing tiles.

I love my hot water bottle more than anything. I’ve a big long sausage shaped one for laying on the sofa with. When DS was in primary and I was still on school runs I used to tuck a wee one in my waistband under my coat to keep me toasty. It fell out once in the Co Op and he was mortified Grin.

ThatDamnKrampus · 29/12/2020 20:18

Oh I love hot water bottles, we seem to have more HWB than we do people plus those micro bags.

I used to have an electric blanket when I was a child and would have it on the highest setting and forget to turn it off - I can imagine it would be a fire hazard but the trusty HWB, you can't beat it!!

ThatDamnKrampus · 29/12/2020 20:18

Oh and yes we are using them now and have been since October!

VexingVixen · 29/12/2020 20:20

A work colleague made me a wheat pouch with lavender. The few times I've heated it up to take to bed, the dog has commandeered it!

EmmaStone · 29/12/2020 20:25

I use a HWB when WFH to avoid putting the heating on. I find I start getting a bit chilly around 2:30-3:00.

Electric blanket for the bed.

Sunbird24 · 29/12/2020 20:29

I bought myself an electric heated cushion after discovering how good my mum’s was for pain relief following my IVF egg collection. Best investment ever! As I’m allergic to all over the counter painkillers I used it a LOT during my miscarriage, and and have been cuddling it when I first get into bed so I keep my body warm but my feet cold, just how I like it. It has 3 heat settings and turns itself off after 90 mins too.

RandomMess · 29/12/2020 20:29

The dog has a special animal friendly one in her crate as well as wearing her equafleece as pjs. For WFH I have an electric throw it is utterly awesome!!

FestiveFannyGallops · 29/12/2020 20:32

A HWB is the ultimate comfort item especially for pain.

YesPleaseMary · 29/12/2020 20:36

I think there have been three or maybe four nights this year when I haven’t had one in bed.

laudemio · 29/12/2020 20:37

Yes!

laudemio · 29/12/2020 20:38

You can get electric blankets which are zoned so you can just do your toes or torso or both.

confusedofengland · 29/12/2020 20:49

My 3 Dses were each brought one in a nice cover by Father Christmas. It is their favourite present by far!

PaperMonster · 29/12/2020 20:51

I’ve an electric blanket for bed, but have used my HWB today alternately on my hip and my shoulder both of which have been painful today as a result of driving too far (only a 40 mile round trip, but my body’s kind of given up on driving).
