Eggy, it's the new one Netflix made with Kiernan Shipka. I didn't know that there had been an earlier one tbh.

Back to work tomorrow. Sad

Just watching Canada (hopefully) beat the Russians at the World Junior Hockey Championships. We are winning 4-0 with 5 minutes left. The winner will go on to play the winner of the USA - Finland game (later tonight) in the final. Fingers crossed!

Sunbird24 · 05/01/2021 01:25

I had an accidental 2hr nap after work 🤦‍♀️

halfpasteleven · 05/01/2021 04:43

Just giving DD her bottle..

@MissConductUS best of luck for your return to work tomorrow.

Frownette · 05/01/2021 04:47

@Therainisback I remember those lime green ones! I can even remember the taste :)

Just heard a bus go by so the day is beginning

mathanxiety · 05/01/2021 05:10

Bananas - make my mouth itch. I rarely eat them fresh, but banana bread has no adverse effects.

Foxes - my mum has one at the bottom of her garden. She was hanging up washing one morning and had the feeling that something was watching her, turned around and there he (she?) was. She retreated to the house. The fox managed to find the garden of a huge fox fan to hang out in, but mum grew up on a farm and knows their ways.

Frownette · 05/01/2021 05:16

@mathanxiety does your mum like foxes? My dad was actually quite fond of them and felt privileged when he was gardening one day (village) and one came up close and didn't run away.

Banana bread is gorgeous!

Frownette · 05/01/2021 05:23

@Therainisback I had a google on the lime milkshakes but it's coming up with lots of healthy stuff, definitely not the same thing. The stuff of our yoof was practically radioactive.

I may have to start a thread to see if we can track it down.

Frownette · 05/01/2021 05:24

@MissConductUS good luck with work, it feels so odd going back, then like you've never been away!

mathanxiety · 05/01/2021 05:46

Yes, mum loves foxes. They are possibly her favourite animal. Growing up on the farm they weren't popular due to their fondness for hens, but she always held a secret admiration for them. She also loves hedgehogs and has one somewhere in the wild bit at the top of the garden too.

Frownette · 05/01/2021 06:33

Lucky mum, I haven't seen a hedgehog in years :)

I just bought häagen-dazs at half price so may do banana fritters with that later. I vaguely remember some chat with @MissConductUS about maple syrup and I do have some in but not the purist stuff.

It's not like I have anything else to do until IT this afternoon...

@mathanxiety your mum sounds ace

kittlesticks · 05/01/2021 06:49

Good luck everyone returning to work today, I was back in the dreaded corner at the desk yesterday. Yawn!
Our owl was hooting a lot last night, and the kids were sweet this morning when DD got into bed with DS to wake him up. He blearily declared 'I think she wants to play with me.'

Frownette · 05/01/2021 06:59

@kittlesticks that's sweet you can hear an owl :)

Do you like your job? It's always discombobulating after the festive season waking up and getting back to 'normal'. I think we're back in another lockdown but it doesn't really impact on me much so I'm not paying attention to the news. Only thing is I wanted to train my friend in something and I'm uncertain if I can travel there and stay couple of days, I'll have to check that. I have friends in police so may do a quick text.

EggNogPegg · 05/01/2021 07:35

We get lots of hedgehogs in our garden. We live in a terrace, so lots of gardens next to each other. I was out looking for EggyCat2 at 11pm in the summer as I hadn't seen her for several hours. I could hear bashing and rustling in the trees on the no man's land between ours and the gardens we back on to. It sounded like there was a grown man breaking through it. All of a sudden a hedgehog wandered out into next doors garden. It was a good size, but still, the level of noise was disproportionate to it.

I remember the bottles were upside down behind the counter ( like optics in a pub) this would have been mid 70s. Was it called Quicka?

Champagneforeveryone · 05/01/2021 08:09

DJ has gone to work - apparently he is a construction worker Grin

We are lucky to have lots of hedgehogs. Locally there's even little road signs warning you to watch out for them on the road.

Today I am tired and unmotivated. It should be my first day alone but DS will be online schooling upstairs. He also (somewhat ominously) told me that he's not practiced his drums for a few days as I was in bed after nights. He's also proud of how much longer he is able to drum for now

Spudlet · 05/01/2021 08:16

Good luck today to all returners to workers, job hunters, and of course, home educators [gulp]

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 05/01/2021 08:38

Morning all, can I join you? I've been lurking and think I posted briefly in earlier threads.

Could this be the stuff? If it's good enough for Mr Whippy I'm willing to be a test candidate and eat tons of ice cream (for research purposes you understand)

My news is that I am getting out of bed soon and I'm thinking about putting a wash load on but am dithering on whether to strip the bed and put the New sheets I got with my grocery shopping on Sunday. Decisions decisions

"Crusha"?
Frownette · 05/01/2021 09:05

@NotanotherboxofFrogs go for it Grin

Report back. It's in the interests of science.

I made such a prat of myself just after 7am, I was on the phone then heard the recycling van so said I'd call back and scrambled downstairs to find out if it was recycling or black bins then flicked everything around the kitchen in my haste to get recycling out and ran down the road barefoot to catch up with the vehicle. It was still dark and the lorry was holding up several buses and cars. The lights looked quite pretty in the dark. I left front door wide open as well. Not sure if collection will go back to normal on Friday after Xmas period.

TenCornMaidens · 05/01/2021 09:32

Morning all. Last day before home schooling starts tomorrow and DH goes back to working from home. We have done the quick cryptic this morning (LOVE) and we are about to pop to our local country park en famille for a brief walk. Trying to get the teens back onto normal school hours. It will be muddy and cold, I expect.

Spudlet · 05/01/2021 09:45

@Therainisback @sueelleker There was Nesquick as well, but that was a powder. I used to like the bits it left at the bottom where it didn’t quite dissolve properly. DM was always a bit too skinny with her powder rationing though...

MissConductUS · 05/01/2021 10:29

Welcome back @NotanotherboxofFrogs. I've just put on a load of wash too, mostly so that my running bits don't get mixed up with the kid's clothes when it's sorted.

I remember Crusha milkshakes. I think we had them at my junior school.

There are some men up a ladder at the end of the corridor. Hey have removed a ceiling panel. They aren’t wearing high vis though. Disappointing lapse in standards.

QuestionableMouse · 05/01/2021 11:32

I've worked over the holidays so no panic about going back. We're waiting to see what's going to happen now with the new lock down. Boss seems determined to stay open but we're mostly doing delivery and drive thru orders which leaves me at a bit of a loose end.
