@lightand thanks for delurking and sharing your news. You are quite a friend to help them move. That's hard work.

mouse, try it on your DH first, just to make sure it's safe. 😀

Sadly DP lives an hour away which isn't much useful. My sister is visiting tomorrow though... 🤔🤔😂😂

Squirrel26 · 03/01/2021 19:36

I’m back to work tomorrow for the first time since Christmas Eve. I’d love to be retired. I am 38. Blush

Raera · 03/01/2021 19:40

May I delurk?
I can share that today I have added fresh spinach into my lasagne layers after hearing a tip that it's good.
In the oven now, I will report back

Silkiechickscat · 03/01/2021 19:40

I stopped working when lockdown hit in March - I just to love working but now I only miss the money. It feels far to early to retire (late 40s) but DS needs 1 to 1 whilst schools off and even after we moved rurally a couple of years ago and very little work around here. Once house is sold it'll be fine as long as goes through - only threat is a tougher lockdown otherwise should be in a couple of weeks.

DH is playing piano, too tired to go to old house, can't say I blame him but hope he can go tomorrow.

Silkiechickscat · 03/01/2021 19:42

Went through school timetable tomorrow with DS and he's been allocated to 2 geography classes, this was enough to make him nearly collapse to the floor in laughter. I think you may need to be ASD to understand that. He kept saying go through the times and again and again. Xmas Confused

MissConductUS · 03/01/2021 19:50

@Raera Welcome and thanks for delurking. We look forward to your report on the recipe modification.

I have to report, that DS is still working.
And DH has announced his intention to make mint joghurt and lime jam at 23:00 h.
DD has changed her bed sheet and covers.

mathanxiety · 03/01/2021 19:53

I've only had Christmas Eve and the day itself, plus NY Eve and day off. And the two weekends. It's been nice, though very busy with seemingly endless cooking and clearing up on my 'days off'.

Fresh snow on the ground from last night, and hoping the car doors are not frozen shut as I have errands to run.

kittlesticks · 03/01/2021 20:14

Evening all.
Refilled the fat ball bird feeder, and made more to go in the fridge with DS.
Made the family a mish mash dinner as we have a big shop coming Tuesday and just need to use some things up.
Went down quite well, especially with DD who at less than 2 seems to eat more than nearly 4 year old DS.
DD was making us laugh at bed time pressing DCat's nose and saying 'boooop!' DCat is such a floppy patient soul.

'Going' to work tomorrow meaning I will be back to the corner of the lounge on my fold up desk. Joy!
Trying to think of reasons to be cheerful. Kids are asleep, bathed, and have full tummies.
Both our jobs seem to be secure for now.
Don't have to commute or panic about what to wear.
Don't need to worry about the kids tomorrow as mum and dad have them. They will be in nursery from Tuesday so the pandemic guilt can start then.

Hope everyone else is finding reasons to breathe!

kittlesticks · 03/01/2021 20:16

@Prokupatuscrakedatus glad your DS is still studying - I fear we have all this worry to come with our kids. I already find them worrying enough!
Sending you a wine.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/01/2021 20:21

@kittlesticks - Thank you for the wine Smile
There are children (I even know some of them), who simply go to school, get the job done and know what they want to become. Mine do not fall into that category ...

Silkiechickscat · 03/01/2021 20:23

I just showed French DH a cheese and pineapple hedgehog as he asked me what I would like for dinner. I'm not very hungry after a roast dinner and crumble and custard so I said cheese and pineapple and showed my serving suggestion Xmas Grin It made him laugh.

Sunbird24 · 03/01/2021 20:33

Technically I haven’t really been off, I’ve been on call, but as nobody’s called me in it’s felt the same!
Glad it’s not just me with the first day back jitters...

Silkiechickscat · 03/01/2021 20:36

There was no pineapple at coop so just have wensleydale cheese.

kittlesticks · 03/01/2021 20:41

I actually love cheese and pineapple. I also love that festive cheese we get with fruit in it? Do you know the kind I mean?
Nobody else in this house likes it so I pretty much got that to myself this Xmas.

Mildmanneredmum · 03/01/2021 20:42

I have first day back jitters too, so I'm in bed with a cup of tea watching a boxset of Murder She Wrote. Wouldn't be able to cope with anything more exciting.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/01/2021 20:54

Mildmanneredmum DD just bought herself the complete series, bc. she finds it calming.

Silkiechickscat · 03/01/2021 20:58

Yes I like wensleydale with apricots but none at coop, have with cranberries sometimes there.

Therainisback · 03/01/2021 21:20

Back to work tomorrow for me too & dreading it. I'm 52 and can't wait to retire, not that I'm wishing my life away.Hmm
In other dull news I've wrapped 19 birthday presents today for various relatives from my Mum. This takes us up to March (she doesn't do last-minute).

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 03/01/2021 21:22

I love pineapple on a pizza

DH is watching American football. I have done about a million loads of laundry today and been over to DMum's to help her sort her phone bill. Far too boring and mundane even for this thread.

Commiserations to all going back to work and school tomorrow. My job search will re-start in earnest.

MissConductUS · 03/01/2021 21:51

I'm listening to the BBC News Hour on my local NPR (National Public Radio) station. It's pretty boring but the news reader has a posh accent.

Welcome @Mildmanneredmum and thanks for joining us. 😊

Nydj · 03/01/2021 21:55

I’m back to work tomorrow - been off since Christmas Eve - but as I am wfh, the feeling of doom isn’t as strong as it usually is after a few days off work. Good luck with the job hunting @HeartsTrumpDiamonds.

Doublechins · 03/01/2021 21:55

Hi everyone I've been lurking on your thread for a while. It's such a lovely thread as other parts of MN are crazy at the moment. Hope you don't mind me joining in.

My dull news from today is I finally managed to get all of the kids xmas things put away today. Now the place is relatively tidy I realised how much it needs a clean though!

Sad to have to put the alarm on again.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 03/01/2021 22:12

Thank you Nydj! I've been looking for over a year, it's a bit soul destroying. So many firms have had hiring freezes due to Covid. Positive outlook though, 2021 will be my year!

DH is stressing about returning to work too. One of his main resolutions is to pace himself better - WFH you don't get those little natural breaks in your day that come from small social interactions. When he is in the office he also takes time every day to grab a coffee in the morning and a salad or whatever for lunch but at home he tends to just power on through.
