@formerbabe

Oh and I can understand people having a preference for certain things but don't say, oh I couldn't possibly sleep on a polyester sheet or wear a non cashmere jumper...I can guarantee that if you lost everything tomorrow or were homeless or living in a refugee camp, you'd be able to.
This. Some people on this thread need to remember that for some people having the bare basics day to day is a struggle.
karala · 26/12/2020 14:30

manners - people not saying please, thank you or excuse me. People who behave badly in public spaces

Crinkle77 · 26/12/2020 14:38

I'm snobbish about crushed velvet furniture, large telly screens in the wall above the fireplace (makes my neck ache after a while) inspirational quotes on walls and those awful posed/staged large family photos that people have hanging on their walls.

MrDarcysMa · 26/12/2020 14:44

@formerbabe I'm actually referring to my mum here. She has plenty of money yet won't spend it on quality stuff for the house.
Obviously I'm aware that some people can't afford quality things.

@roastedpudding

I really look down on people who choose to be stupid.

How do you know it's a choice and not a matter of circumstance though? Not everybody has been brought up in homes where education is encouraged and that's through no fault of their own.

(two degrees, a PGCE and an MSc)

It's always a matter of choice.

It doesn't matter whether education is encouraged at home or not - it's encouraged in school and teachers love students with ability and interest, whatever their circumstances.

It's about the person themselves, whether they're lazy and willingly ignorant or whether they follow that natural curiosity that's the source of all great creativity and innovation.

Hmm never read so much nonsense in my life.

Thanks for illustrating my point, formerbabe

What a nasty comment @FluffyHippo. I assume you're insinuating I'm ignorant and stupid because I have a different opinion to you. How absolutely charming.

Katjolo · 26/12/2020 15:06

Smoking over/ around children. Vile. Babies/toddlers sat in a buggy and glued to a tablet.

No, I'm assuming that your dismissive comment - your unwillingness to even entertain a point of view that might be different from yours - indicates the kind of ignorance I dislike.

@SpeckledyHen

Only buy food in Waitrose. Happy to buy cleaning stuff in Aldi as it’s lots cheaper than Waitrose but won’t compromise otherwise.
Waitrose and Aldi use the same processors for many food products which just have a different label /sleeve put on them depending who is selling them- same product exactly.
JimmyTheWeed · 26/12/2020 15:10

Bed sheets. I have really sensitive skin so must have ones with a high thread count.

Pomegranatemolasses · 26/12/2020 15:13

Has to be Maldon salt and Kerrygold butter.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 26/12/2020 15:15

Anyone who says, holibibs, hubby, preggers.
Anyone who can’t hold cutlery properly.
Anyone who “booms” up their car to try and get a crappy old vw to sound like a Ferrari
People who think a degree in travel from the university of the south west of whatever county is the same as an academic degree from Oxbridge/RG uni.

Plussizejumpsuit · 26/12/2020 15:16

@Mooselaurels

High definition TV. If it's not in HD, I don't watch it.
Hilarious!
XingMing · 26/12/2020 15:16

Huge wine glasses, especially filled to the brim.

Unsalted butter, I go without or use olive oil rather than put "spread" on bread. (It doesn't have to be French butter though.)
Supermarket eggs are invariably pale, stale and tasteless.

Lesina · 26/12/2020 15:26

Shoes. I am not talking high end fashion Jimmy Choos etc but I will not wear anything other than good quality leather shoes or boots. The idea of wearing primark ( insert any fast fashion brand) or shoe zone shoes makes me want to vomit.

Plussizejumpsuit · 26/12/2020 15:33

@EddieVeddersfoxymop

Cars. We only have BMWs. Slightly ashamed of that one as its a biggy to be a snob about but in my defence a family member sells BMWs for a living and we get very good deals! Blush

Also, guitars. We both play and have very nice guitars. Grin

This is why snobbery is so odd. As I think BMWs are tacky and it feels bonkers anyway would be snobby about them (ie think they're superior for having them).

Same for people re tinned soup and only buying a brand. When it all tastes crap to me.

So actually we all (me too) should just like what we like and not eb as judgemental!

You fo realise this is all some people can afford. I feel like yiu need to experience some really challenges and hardship of wearing primark shoes makes you want to vomit!
Chocolate1992 · 26/12/2020 15:49

Nice quality carpets and cheap meats (the meat I buy for the dogs that comes in a box people actually eat Confused)

theantsgomarchin · 26/12/2020 15:49

Hotels. I don't understand people that go on holiday and stay in 2* hotels that aren't even as comfortable as their own homes. I'd rather stay home!

Chocolate1992 · 26/12/2020 15:50

Also, I couldn’t drive an old wreck of a car... been there done it and it’s so embarrassing as well as uncomfortable..

buttonmoonb4tea · 26/12/2020 15:58

@FluffyHippo so you're basically saying anybody who does not have four degrees and a Phd is ignorant and not educated to a level you feel is sufficient for you to interact with. Am I correct?

You also said that opportunity does not affect the level of educational attainment and that attitude does. You are aware that children from dysfunctional homes, abused children and children with additional needs will all have their ability to take in information, retain and learn severely impacted don't you?

Or is your view very simplistic? Demonstrating the very ignorance you can't stand so much.

DillonPanthersTexas · 26/12/2020 15:59

The funny thing is that about 90% of new cars on the road are on finance. I used to drive around in a 25 year old mercedes that I actually owned outright.
