Looking for inspiration suitable for a veggie, a fussily carnivorous husband and two moderately fussy kids.

@sheldonsgreenwithenvy that sounds amazing, so trying this

NeedToKnow101 · 22/12/2020 20:50

Lightly simmer till just over al dente. Let steam steam off. Stir in butter, salt and pepper and nutmeg. Yum.

I like them just boiled but we are doing some fried with bacon lardons too.

VerbenaGirl · 22/12/2020 20:54

Sautéed with chestnuts, plus crispy bacon for non-veggies. Everyone loves them.

DriveThroughSwabber · 22/12/2020 20:57

JorisBonson great minds!

Similar to Samuel Johnson's opinion o cucumbers:

"It has been a common saying of physicians in England, that a cucumber should be well sliced, and dressed with pepper and vinegar, and then thrown out, as good for nothing."

Blanched then fried with chestnuts or roasted with pecans and honey

darktriad · 22/12/2020 23:28

I'm going to roast mine with carrots, parsnips, butter and sage, no idea what it will taste like, but attempting to recreate a dish I had recently in a restaurant, I may add bacon but undecided as yet.

BalancingStick · 22/12/2020 23:35

Roasted then stir with butter and whole grain mustard

CherryRoulade · 22/12/2020 23:38

hEither chop in Half and stir through a little oil, Parmesan, Pandora crumbs and a little garlic then roast or shred, stir fry in shallot butter with smoked lardons and chestnuts.

Fuckingcrustybread · 22/12/2020 23:44

As pp have said, it's too late. They should have been boiling since 2019.

Crankley · 23/12/2020 00:26

I'm not a fan of eating bullets, I like my sprouts soft so boil in salted water. I make enough to make bubble and squeak on Boxing Day - yum.

mumulala · 23/12/2020 00:42

Sealed in a silver foil parcel with seasoning, knob of butter and splash of white wine. Put in oven and they steam in the parcel, they might caramelise a little too. Keeps the flavour in.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 23/12/2020 00:47

I chop them, then sauté them with pancetta and chestnuts. Amazing!

Emmelina · 23/12/2020 02:01

Halved, steamed til soft then tossed in a pan with butter, garlic and cubed pancetta until nicely coloured!
