Board game like pandemic? Collaborative game play?

Looking for a board game like pandemic where you all kind of play on the same team towards the same goal rather than against each other. Any suggestions?

The Captain Is Dead

Forbidden Island!

Forbidden Island is very similar to Pandemic. So much so, our DC's had absolutely no interest in playing it.

Harry Potter battle for Hogwarts if you are fans.

Ravine
and, to an extent, Secret Hitler.

Mansions of madness

Blueemeraldagain · 21/12/2020 23:36

I’ve just bought one called Ravine. The aim is for the group to survive a planet crash on an island. It’s much more straightforward than Pandemic but I love the twists and turns and the fact that no two games are quite the same!

Blueemeraldagain · 21/12/2020 23:37

Ha, a plane crash. A planet crash would be difficult to survive...

Zombie Kidz if it’s a mix of age ranges

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 22/12/2020 00:55

Would Mansions Of Madness be ok for a 12 year old or is it too much horror?

ChristmasBubble · 22/12/2020 00:57

Listen again to one of Jeremy Vine's radio 2 shows from last week. There was a segment on board games. Most I'd never heard of.

Mostly I would say it would be fine unless it’s a 12 year older who gets scared easily by 12 rated films. It’s very fantastical type horror with monsters etc so it’s great fun. If anything they might find the game play a little complicated but if playing with older family members they should be fine and it comes with an app that helps tell you what to do. I think most 12 year olds would find it really fun.

Ravine and, to an extent, Secret Hitler.
Secret Hitler is fab but I think so much better if you're near the maximum rather than minimum number of players (it's a 5-10 game) so it wouldn't be my game of choice for most people this particular Christmas!
VenusClapTrap · 22/12/2020 09:43

My 8 and 10 year olds love Mansions of Madness. It isn’t really scary.

RainMoon · 22/12/2020 10:53

Thanks for all the suggestions will look them all up!
Looking for games that can be played mainly by 2 adults

Forbidden Desert

A couple of games have a minimum of 3 players, looking for something to play with DH in the evenings when we’re on our own. Suggested the Harry Potter one, looks amazing but DH said as he’s not a fan he might not get all the bits.

Mansions of madness is 2 players

RainMoon · 22/12/2020 17:11

Thanks @Trisolaris is it normally around £75? It does look good and I think it was showing me different things before

I love pandemic!!! @RainMoon do you have the Legacy edition?

Dead of Winter is also collaborative (although there is the added twist someone is a traitor).

Maximum apocolayse is also good.

DoubleHelix79 · 22/12/2020 17:21

The Sherlock Holmes one is good - you work together to find clues and solve cases.

SingToTheSky · 22/12/2020 17:21

Flashpoint fire rescue! You have to save people from a building before it reaches a certain amount of damage. Cooperative like pandemic but different enough to be worth having both.

AnathemaPulsifer · 22/12/2020 18:08

Came on to say Flashpoint as well.

FixItUpChappie · 22/12/2020 18:11

Horrified - fun theme too with classic universal monsters.
