What did Santa put your presents in as a child?

I don't remember there being special Santa stockings when I was young (I'm 39)

I used to leave out a pair of my mum's tights!

My cousins would use a pillowcase.

I put up a school sock! I can't remember but probably got things like little care bear figures, cassettes, a small soft toy one year. And a satsuma.

I have never really done stockings either for my dc , always had xmas sacks with presents , moving on to xmas bag full as they have got older

My brother and I had sacks which were hung at the top of the stairs with a book, sweets, maybe a small toy, an orange and a pound coin. They sacks were large, but there wasn't a lot in them.
Actual presents under the tree. Definitely in seperate piles when we were small, then mixed together when we got older.

One half of a pair of tights. American tan. My sister had the other half.
I am pleased to see I’m not the first to say that on this thread, normally I’m the only one!

We had stockings with our names on. My mum had made them. But, certainly when we were older, he tended to leave the presents in gift bags.

Pillow case Grin I actually have fond memories of that. My parents second duvet set being reused every year , I've always done fancy smatzy named sacks for my DC and actually sort of wishing they had the same memory of occasionally mismatched pillowcases.

That in retrospect my dm must have ironed Grin, there is something endearing about that in a childhood full of less pleasant memories

We used mum & dads hiking socks

Although I did make one of the felt “Santa stockings” at school in home economics in about 1988 so had that from then.

I’m mid thirties. We had stockings for small presents and the rest were under the tree

One of my dad's socks. The other one retained by stealth so it could be filled and swapped in the early hours.

My sister and I each had one of a pair of old grey hand-knitted woollen socks that had been Dad's, with a pink ribbon through so they could be hung up. I still have mine, despite it being a bit moth-holed.

Yes I always used to be the odd one amongst friends growing up for it. Those tights didn't half stretch mind!

Pillow cases, with all the presents in - nowt went under the tree, so anything big would be sitting next to the pillow case.

My mum used to wrap absolutely everything, recycling the paper each year so some smaller gifts would be practically embalmed in tape!

We'd sit on dp's bed to open everything, everyone armed with a pair of nail scissors to cut neatly along the tape lines so dm could retrieve & save the paper to use yet again.

Later in the day the extended family would congregate at dgm's house for more lunch, & there would be more gifts from dgps, aunts, uncles etc.

Dm made us all stockings. Dh hates mine because it's stretchy and so never looks full.

I had (still have, actually) a Clothkits stocking. It had a pocket on the front with a little stuffed Santa sticking out. My brother had an identical one.

Pillowcase!!!

I am a romantic and I have always always wanted a Christmas stocking to hang up, with my initial on it.

This year I have made myself (and the rest of the family) one. I am more excited than the kids!

Thinking back it wasn’t even one of the “best” pillowcases, more your emergency bedding stuff. Old and yellow! Makes me feel nostalgic

We left a pillow case by our beds and a sock by the fireplace.

I didn't even know "proper" Christmas stockings were a thing until after I left home.
