What did Santa put your presents in as a child?

I don't remember there being special Santa stockings when I was young (I'm 39)

I used to leave out a pair of my mum's tights!

My cousins would use a pillowcase.

32, we had felt stockings with pictures on. Pillowcase seems too big to me! We put them on the end of the bed and they would be magically filled by morning. I loved stretching a foot out to feel the weight and crinkle!

Stockings were from Father Christmas and some tree presents would be too.

We used our largest size knee socks for stockings at the end of the bed.

Santa presents were left in the sitting room downstairs, door and connecting door were both locked, we'd go to Mass first, then home for breakfast, then wait for Dad to get dressed and then, finally, joy!

I had red decorative stocking and pillow case or Santa sack but it was my mum and dad who filled them because Santa doesn't exist.

Pillow cases.

One of dad’s thick woollen work socks

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 20/12/2020 10:00

An actual pair of old tights!

Itmaybeus · 20/12/2020 10:01

In my 40s we had pillowcases. As did my cousins.

Angel2702 · 20/12/2020 10:02

Definitely lots of Christmas stockings some my Mum made, others were bought. My Mum still has them on her stairs as decorations. I’m 38.

Presents from parents were downstairs in special Christmas sacks.

lazylinguist · 20/12/2020 10:03

Big, above-the-knee fishing type socks of my grandad's. We only do little bits and bobs in a stocking from Father Christmas. The rest of the presents are from whoever they're actually from, and are set out under the tree, so no pillowcases or shopping bags needed.

lazylinguist · 20/12/2020 10:03

Forgot to add - I'm in my late 40s.

Graffitiqueen · 20/12/2020 10:05

Pillowcase

Nuie · 20/12/2020 10:06

Initially one of my dad’s long wooden hockey socks and then later into a pillow case.

FippertyGibbett · 20/12/2020 10:06

A pillowcase

Camomila · 20/12/2020 10:11

We had one present wrapped in different paper and labelled from Father Christmas...which now I think about it was weird as the baby Jesus was the more common gift-giver.

Stocking on the 6th January filled with sweets and chocolate.

bellsbuss · 20/12/2020 10:13

I'm 45 and had a Christmas sack as a stocking.

Inaquandry19 · 20/12/2020 10:15

A black bin bag for presents and one of my dads football socks for nuts/fruit etc.

CoolCatTaco · 20/12/2020 10:15

Nothing, big unwrapped stash under the Christmas tree!! Mid forties...Xmas Wink

Nowaynothappening · 20/12/2020 10:16

Never did stockings, just presents under the tree.

Ingot · 20/12/2020 10:16
  1. One leg of mum's nylon tights
catnoir1 · 20/12/2020 10:18

Nothing, he left them out unwrapped on a chair in my living room.

catnoir1 · 20/12/2020 10:19

No stocking.

MagicSummer · 20/12/2020 10:19

I never had stockings or pillowcases! Father Christmas just used to leave presents at the bottom of my bed, all wrapped up!

Twobrews · 20/12/2020 10:22

A pillowcase. If we where at my paternal grandparents for Christmas part of the ritual was her taking us to the ottoman on the landing and choosing a fresh pillowcase. Grandma used to keep a bar of soap in between each item and the smell was wonderful.

Glacierminty · 20/12/2020 10:28

A pillowcase and later years one of those plastic Santa sacks.

PaperMonster · 20/12/2020 10:40

We used a pillow case.
